Hi L.W. Thanks for this wide ranging Funchal walk. So good to learn from your good local knowledge. Interesting to hear about the building boom and soaring prices. I also didn’t know about the Natural History Museum 🚶♂️😮. We are just back from Paguera, Mallorca. We had a great time, all went well 🏝🏖🏡⛰ 👫🌊🌊 ☀️. See you about, cheers, Don 👋
Morning Don, yes they are rather soaring. we were pondering on relocating here but brexit and the high costs are making it a trickier prospect. Ah so you’ve been in lovely Mallorca, good to hear you are out and about and travelling again. Did you take any footage? Look forward to seeing it if so.
Hello there Debbie, oh how nice of you this is our first ever '$ thanks' in that way and it means a lot to us!! Hope to bring you many more your way and to stay in touch. All best wishes to you.
You’re welcome Biaf, glad to introduce you to a new area. I’ll be sprinkling in a few narrated walks here and there, so I’m pleased that you like them.
Did you go for your recorded walks to Jardim Magnolia (Rua Dr. Pita) yet ? Small but nice, and home to an excellent restaurant. They cut too many trees a couple of years ago to put the tennis/paddel fields, in my opinion. I know the neighbourhood quite well, because I stay every year in the summer at Enotel Magnolia (former Quinta do Sol) when I come over from Belgium.
Good morning to you Britt, I do plan to be narrating a bit more, so hope you'll enjoy 'em. Thanks for the feedback it's appreciated! All the best to you.
Thanks for dropping by to let us know you enjoyed it Nazar. Do hope you get to visit sometime, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. All the best to you.
Hi LW, a pleasure to be in Funchal again and to explore some new streets with you. Are you planning to do more narrated films? I love both I have to say.
Hi there rbs, it’s certainly lovely to be back here. Yes I do plan to add a few narrated films in along the way, so I hope you’ll find them interesting?
Finally, a sunny video of Madeira. All the videos I have seen so far have shown heavy clouds and been quite dark. Looks like a lovely place. How do you feel there as a foreigner. Are the locals welcoming?
Glad you enjoyed walking in sunny Madeira with me. Thanks for taking the time to connect. the weather is very often sunny and I have a few more sunny walks here if you ever fancy another virtual stroll? We always feel very welcome indeed in Madeira, a lovely island all round. All the best to you.
Thanks Ian & Yvonne ☺ It appears I'm the only person so far with the requested info, but regarding the Harvey Engineering Co. Ltd, Glasgow contraption in Jardim de Santa Luzia, the company supplied a steam engine & gear train for driving the sugar cane crushing mill at the William Hinton sugar factory in Funchal. The machinery & mill chimney are all that remain of the mill. Does this mean I win one of the coffees you spoke of?! (Sssh I cheated, I used this oracle called "The Google" on something call the "interweb", so please don't respect me less lol!) Have a great weekend my friends! 🤗
Hi there Rua, ha ha, thanks for taking the time to do your homework, even if it was through the oracle! Enjoyed your recent walk too. An interesting tour all round and what great kids you found to chat to. Shame you’re not still in Madeira, we could have met up for a Chinesa. We’ll be here again in Dec and Jan if you’re about? Oh and it’s Mike btw😊
@@LivingWalks My apologies, for some reason I thought it was Ian, d'oh! I guess my prize is now forfeit! 😢😫🤣 I see what you did there with my name changing me from French to Portuguese lol! 😜 I was thinking about heading there in Spring so I don't know if I'll catch you then?
Hi there Mr R! ha ha no prob's, I don't mind being called Ian, it makes a change from Mike! Ah you'll have a great time in the Spring I know. We'll be there in January, and perhaps the spring too, so let's stay in contact! All the best to you mate.
Morning @leanderian, pleased you enjoyed the narration, I'll be bringing a few more like these. Ah, "portly" people... at a guess, perhaps something to do with the cruise ship in port, or the pastel de nata's are just too nice? All the best to you.
Hi mingmangmung, well it very much depends on where you go. We love to walk the Levada's and on certain walks you may not see another person all day, similarly in the North and many other smaller towns. In Funchal of course, there's going to be a lot of tourists and hopefully you can see from our walks here what it's actually like as they are done in one long take so unedited. We love Funchal nonetheless even though there's quite a few tourists around, it has a great heart and soul. Hope you enjoy it if you go.

I liked the narration. Any idea why there are so many "portly" people wandering around Funchal?

Is it as touristy as they say? I’m planning to go but I don’t like the artificial feeling of very touristy places
