Do drop by with your thoughts about retirement, or just to connect. We always enjoy hearing from you... and we'd especially love to hear from you if you are Madeiran, so do drop by and say hello!!
Hello Yvonne ,Mike , Luis and Nancy! A wonderful interview about pursuing a better second half of life! Well done! Looking forward to seeing you all very soon! Cheers! Monique and Doug
Well hello there you two lovelies. Pleased you thought so, we're certainly enjoying meeting people such as Luis and Nancy and the two of you! It makes it all worthwhile. (Incidentally Mike's working on Doug's walk and chat as I speak). Look forward to seeing you both in a few weeks. Lots of love Yvonne xx
Hello there T&H, very pleased to have brought a little bit of the Island to you and thank you for your kind feedback. All the best to you. I hope to bring you many more.
Good morning Valeriy, how nice to know you found the conversation inspiring, it's good of you to drop by and connect. I do hope to bring you many more.
Wonderful interview and walk showing the beauty of Funchal. Thank you for sharing, my wife and I are working towards moving to Madeira. We feel the same way as Luis, it’s never too late to learn something new. Hope to meet you both when my wife and I have our scouting trip in 2024
Our pleasure Mark, good of you to take the time to drop by. We'd very much love to meet you on your scouting trip in 2024. Do keep in touch and best of luck with your plans.
Former New York City boy too. I love the urban vibes of Funchal - as some others have said, it’s like a mini-Lisbon. We will be there in February for about six weeks as we prepare to move (at least part time to Madeira) The difference is that I when we move there, I will be a Portuguese citizen thanks to the (former) law of return for direct ancestors of expelled Jews. Just got my citizenship paper approved last week. Anyway, I want to concur wit others: These interviews add a dimension to your videos that is quite welcome.
Good morning to you Two Americans And a Dog , all the best to you in your new adventure, how wonderful to have your citizenship! I feel sure you'll love your time there and will want to stay. Keep us posted.
Its interesting how many Americans have discovered Madeira or mainland Portugal.I'm sure Luis and his wife have found the other local RUclipsrs Alan,Leslie, and Wolf We( Brits) discovered Portugal 40 yrs ago! retired to the Algarve 11yrs ago..Never regretted living in this most hospitable country. I'm sure you won't either, enjoy your life
Hi Jenny, yes indeed.. interesting how many Americans have discovered Madeira and the mainland. Luis and his wife and ourselves know Alan, Leslie, and Wolf well. How wonderful that you retired to the Algarve 11yrs ago. It's great to hear you have ever regretted living in this wonderful country. All the very best to you.
Hi Norbert, we do appreciate you mentioning that, it is of course a factor whenever any foreigners move in. We'll be doing another video shortly with a view on this too. All the best to you.
Very nice , the most I love about yiur channel the walking tours. Was it Funchal downtown where you started and end the tour ? If you have a map of the current video the stretch you folks walked would be great. Cheers 👍
Hi there kcsnew, how nice to hear you enjoyed it. I'm pleased to hear you like the walking tours. Sorry we can't supply a map of the route right now, we are traveling at the mo', so don't have much of a chance right now but that's right it was Funchal epicentre where we started and ended the tour. All the very best and hope to bring you many more.
@@LivingWalks Thank you, I was curious about the location rather than a map. What is the name of the street where you walked around so that I can google it. Cheers 👍
Thanks Yvonne & Mike, & also to your guests Luis & Nancy ☺ That was lovely & was great to hear insights from Luis as I'm dreaming of retirement in Madeira. By the way good evening from Dhaka, Bangladesh! I'm having a great time vlogging over here with my intense & crazy personal walking tours, so you have been warned lol! Have a truly beautiful weekend my friends 🤗
Hello there our friend Rue, How are things in Dhaka, Bangladesh! Sure you must be having a great time vlogging, we're certainly looking forward to hearing all about it when the video's are up, or maybe they are already?
@@LivingWalks There's four up already sir & madam, awaiting your audit! 😉😁 It's tough going with the heat, humidity, travel & trying to keep myself well as most of the food is chilli, salt & sugar laiden, but there are rewards to be reaped! There was also some major drama, all well be revealed in due course! I'm currently in the north east at my ancestral home so I hope to you delight you with some personal aspects of my journey out here. I'm looking forward to watch your new one which you filmed in my favourite Lido! Tried to watch it last night but was so wrecked! I'll stick it on again of course!
Oh what a pleasure to be there virtually with you and enjoy your adventures. Reminded me a little of our wonderfully memorable tours to India. I can veritably smell Dhaka. Great to hear you speaking Bengali!! Love those horns too, ah yes... we'll be watching the follow up ones shortly! Have a great adventure Rue.
You guest and I are about the same age but he's living the life I want to live. I still have 3 years till retirement and Portugal is where I want to go.
Is it true that the rental prices jumped twice higher since spring? Is it possible to find 1+1 or 2+1 furnished in Funchal for 500-600 euro? Used to be plenty of options for this price range last year. Great video. Great city! Amazing island!
Thanks for visiting One thought, well I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case, they've certainly gone a bit mad, you may well struggle to find somewhere affordable. I certainly feel for the locals. All the best to you friend.
again, just the kind of video that is interesting to me. Been thinking: an island, so nobody can come in so easily but on the other hand is it possible to get all the necessities of life ? Well, I first have to watch this video, thank you
Good morning to you Britt, well I do hope you find the conversation interesting and helpful. All the best to you in your new adventure! Hope to bring you many more.
@@LivingWalks great you and your wife Nancy go to Church too.. What I loved in Madeira was next to the people the fish, the wonderful drinks, the special plants and the levadas to walk. And yes the lack of rushing. Hard to learn Portuguese I guess. But with English you get along ok. Really love your videos
Hi Britt, yes Nancy and Luis do! We certainly love Madeira for those reasons too. Hope you enjoy the many walks we hope to bring you. Best wishes Yvonne and Mike

@@LivingWalks Hi Yes and I keep my American tradition with Halloween Thanksgiving 4th July and Christmas not only in my House as well on my store OLDE MADEIRA Antiques in Ponta Delgada
Would like to travel to Madeira - one thing holds me back, and comments are welcome: is it true that there are homeless dogs ? I imagine, yes, and wonder about the care or lack of, they recieve
Hi Karen, I haven't noticed many stray dogs I must admit, but sometimes we see the odd free roaming pets. I think others might agree. All the best to you.
the main Madeira´s problem is that laws dosen´t work at all! Justice doesn´t work and have a lot of drugs and the local´s are bad with the animals. i know that because i used to live there, thank god i am no longer there.

You're really welcome RBS, happy to introduce you to Luis and a little bit of Funchal.
Ahhh What a tonic on a foggy morning in Blighty, it makes it all seem so possible when you listen to Luis. Thank you.

Very enjoyable - I like that you're trying new things but still keeping up the natural sound walks. Keep it up!
Hi LY&M, yes we do still plan to keep the natural sound walks but add some extra interviews and narrations, so I hope you'll like the mix?
