Well I never knew Anton Du Bek had a caravan 🕺🤔 ... I think the netting is preventing leaf fall blocking the drains ... The elecy fence must be to help prevent assistant wardens doing a runner 😂👍
My wife and I love Abbey Wood. It’s great for visiting concerts and shows at the O2 (Elizabeth Line - 10 min walk from site - to Stratford, then the Jubilee line) and central London in general. If late at night the local taxis only charge £5 cash to drop you at the site gates on return. The net is to stop tree debris falling into the CDP. Don’t leave any shoes outside at night (inside the awning is ok), as apparently the local foxes and squirrels “borrow” them, and always leave you with just the one.
It's a lovely site. We stay there when visiting London as the Elizabeth Line is perfect for getting into the city. That was a Buzzard you saw. We saw them every day on our visits along with the hordes of Parakeets. I've never seen so many Parakeets in one place before.
We have been to Abbey Wood CaMC, two or three times over the past seven years and absolutely love it. The cages over the chemical waste are to stop the leaves and acorns blocking the system. There are spectacular walks across the Abbey and the tube is in easy reach. However, I do find the site a tranquil oasis in the depths of London. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the tour Graham! Looks like a great site and such a perfect spot if you're nipping into town for something like a concert. Good to see that they're hot on security too. That green netting is a puzzler though. Cheers, Mac & Sarah
Hertford looked really boggy it's one of the original campsites, Baden Powell and all that Don't think it's changed since. Thanks for the look around, never been to Abbey Wood. The netting is probably to keep leaves out in Autumn.
The big fences are to keep us locals out. We normally rock up between 11:00 and midnight with our burning torches and pitchforks seeking virgins to sacrifice...........🤣 The area has undergone a massive transformation since the Elizabeth Line was built so it is changing for the better. I've lived in and around Abbey Wood (apart from 14 years in South Wales in the 80's & 90's) since 1969 and still love it here. Later in the spring, the woods are carpeted in bluebells and the views across London from Lesness Abbey are superb. Those trees that border the site will be full of leaves soon so the flats on Federation Road will be less visible and the road noise will also reduce significantly. It's a shame I live a 15 minute walk away from the site as I would love to use it.
We went there about 8 years ago and felt safe with the gates and security on site but coming home one night at 9pm there was drunks and drugged people around the train station, it frightened me and unnerved my husband, so we came back early after that.
Abbey Wood is great, any weekend trips to London and it’s perfect, especially location to the train station, used many times, the thing with it though is the old cliche, is what it is
We last went to Hertford ccc 10 years ago in May and our impressions were the same as your s as it was sodden then as well it certainly needs some Investment. You'll have to give crystal Palace a go before it leaves the network.
My sister has just signed up for Experience Freedom so that she can come away with us, it was cheaper than buying a Motorhome. Not sure she would be impressed with that road noise though. The nets are under trees so maybe to stop leaves from clogging up the disposal points?
Thanks for watching. That's brilliant that you sister can come away with you, I'd never really thought about Experience Freedom being used in that way. TBH the road noise wasn't that bad, I mean at night, I didn't hear anything, but Mandy is a light sleeper. It does feel like an oasis, and that you really could be anywhere... I think you're right about the nets, I don't know why that didn't occur to me at the time :-)
Thanks for watching. No charge. The caravan is classed as a trailer. You dont need insurance, there's no tax or MOT. The law sees it no different to the trailer that you might put rubbish in to take to the tip…

You are a hero for caravanning at this time of the year with this awful weather.
Thanks for watching. Not great is it. Caravan is nice and warm though. More to come in the coming weeks
Thanks for showing us around Graham & Mandy.

Thanks for watching and confirming the bird. Yes lots parakeets. We've started getting them out in Essex as well…

Thanks for watching. Does look a lovely area and I can see why popular, we liked it..

Thanks for the vlog Graham nice to see Mandy maybe the bird was a Buzzard?
Could be. Thanks for watching. I have to get Mandy in the vlog and not tell her 😆

@lesbrewster2375 thanks for watching. Yes we’ve been to Crystal Palace and liked it a lot

Great video but what’s the clean air charge for taking the caravan here?

Those nets to stop leaves going into the poo pit? Nice to see Mandy getting involved in this one.
Thanks for watching. Yes I think you're right about leaves etc. No doubt Mandy will want paying soon 😀
The netting might be to stops leaves falling in
Thanks for watching. Yes that does make sense 👍🏻
We thinks the nets are to stop leaves going into the chemical toilet and blocking the pipe. Maybe.
I think thanks a good shout. Thanks for watching 👀
Good vlog Graham did you get a boll--ing for getting Mandy in the clip or doesn’t she know or maybe she’s getting over her shyness
Thanks for watching. Haha I'm not sure she knows yet. She isn't shy, quite the opposite, just doesn't like seeing herself in camera 🤔🙄
Are the fences there to stop people getting in or campers getting out? 😂
Thanks for watching. It would certainly stop me getting out 😁😵💫
Nice site but got a two grand fine ulez charge I paid congestion not ulez expensive mistake
Thanks for watching. Ouch that's not good. I checked for ulez and our car has no charge
