Fully affirms the reason why Gilmore is one of my top favorite guitarists. Thank you Ayla for explaining the guitar tones. I never realized how much was involved in creating the guitar tone for that song.
I have the dubious accomplishment of having listened to the wall on an 8-track player, when I was a kid. 🎹 Now I find technically, the playing is so easy, but centers around getting good tones and timing.
Great video. Gilmour is one of my top 5 biggest inspirations on guitar. It's nice to see a younger person such as yourself showing so much appreciation for the rock greats :)
Hello Ayla, it's really gratifying to see more and more women getting into electric guitar. I am a professional guitarist and a big Brian May and David Gilmour fan, and I must say that you have recreated David's sound very convincingly. I've been involved with David's sound for many years and know how much time it takes to research it. So I think it's great of you to share your findings here. I myself play through the Fractal Axe-Fx III Mark II and US-made tube amps from Hi-Tone, which are a great alternative to Hiwatt amps. In my home country there is a company that also builds great amps. They are called "Mywatt" and are hand built by a man named "Max Weber". They sound stunningly good, and cost less than half of a Hiwatt or Reeves amp. I suspect, however, that you don't want to go that deep into the matter. With musical greetings from Germany Your Mic 🙂
Just goes to show yeah, I'm almost 70 years old I always learned something from you. You are a beautiful person inside and out !⚘️⚘️⚘️🌈 🙏🌎☮️🇺🇦🇺🇦🕚 By the way I have never heard anybody emulate David's tone As closely as you do(Alya)
I just stumbled across this. Really well explained. Clear, concise, really honest, no unnecessary bullshit and absolutely correct to credit gilmourish too (which is essentialfor anyone wanting to get near DG tones). I don't have or use a line 6 or similar. I use individual pedals but the approach is the same. Great demo. Will definitely check out more of your stuff.
Love this song and love playing along with it. I'm no pro, so may be off base here, but the chord progression used in "Run Like Hell" is also used in Soul Asylum's "Black Gold" and the outtro to Supertramp's "Give A Little Bit". Both great songs as well.
The funny thing I found, was how much Dave's daughter looks like he did in the seventies, around the dark side of the moon era, (female version, of course) I don't know if she plays music though.
Your hands move like David. Especially in the higher cords. Good job on everything. I think the greatest mystery of "the floyd" is how they did everything. And it's always fun to learn
Great demo/analysis. I love that you acknowledge how ridiculous the words are that we use to describe tone. I'm putting "funky sparkle" in my mental file box.
So, thanks for the great video. I have a Line 6 Pod Go, which has the same sounds as the Helix, but way less dsp. So I skipped the boost and just turned up the gain on the HiWatt. Sounds awesome and the flanger was the special sauce I was missing.
Love how you broke down the problem and segmented up the vid. Awesome. Your sound is the closest I've heard. By the way, perhaps I heard some ground loop buzzing so maybe try a 3-2 prong adapter.
Just made a preset in Bias FX based on your pedal settings and with very minor adjustments (because of the pedals being different) I got pretty dang close. Thanks!!!
Thanx for your videos, they're great. I'm so glad you had a lot of fun making this one. Know what could be even more fun? Doing the same thing for some of the live version of this track. The tone in those always sounds a lot beefier than the studio tone.
Gilmour said 380 and 507 I question this bc the dajays will give only a few repeats then clash with each other making noise. I set my delays correspondence with each other and going into the slower delay first with one repeat then feeding that signal into your second delay will keep the decay volume level up high. In other words the repeats stay at the same volume untill the last few, then fade away. On most live shows you'll be able to count 6 loud repeats before dacaying to nothing. Great vid you made i like it for sure..
Great stuff. There's something magical about the way a Flanger interacts with Delay. I found my favorite Electric Mistress-type flanger, the PastFX Elastic Mattress. It's amazing.
great video! Not common to see someone getting a tone that's really close to David Gilmour's like this! Shout out to Gilmourish for decoding Gilmour's tones for everyone
So cool, Ayla. I don’t have the full helix, but I do have the HX Effects set up with 4 cable method going into a Marshall DSL40. This will be a fun project seeing how close I can get the tone. Thanks!
Hey, can you share this patch in the cloud for those of us who have Line hardware? I love trying patches from others to see if I can improve it and make it work with my guitars and stuff.
for a clean tone maybe the highwatt is the best choice. i have only an tone king imperial, but for a while i am using ableton 10 live and amplitube 5 through focusrite 4i4 and adam monitors
Wow! I wish I had the patience to figure out effects and the way they work. Its seems so complex. I didn't know that there where 2 delays and and a tape used for this song. Thanks for the tip.😁👍
That was cool. I myself thought it sounded close enough one or two devices in (with delay). Appreciate the demo. The types of places I played at no one would have appreciated the nuances so - I guess that work to match and buy pedals was never something I cared about. Skill on the fingering was.
That is a remarkably great run like hell tone, very nice job. I just set something similar on my muti fx pedal recently and it gets the job done, but not as true to the original like your!
So now i'm totally sold on the Electric Mistress now. I've known this to be one of Gilmour's pedals and been meaning to pick one up, but I've always just performed this song with just what I've had around: compressor + Chorus + Delay.....which gets close. Sounds so much better with the mistress vs. just a chorus (Boss CE5), though.
Wow Dude MOST EXCELLENT .. a complete feast for all Guitar geek / nerds & hey looks like blonde's do have more fun . I would say lovely Telecaster Blonde too & just the smile on your face when you are all too briefly rocking it out . Superb. Recently I discovered a new Guitar hero to follow ( yes I do consider you one of my goto Guitar heroes ) But this Guitar player par excellence is a ( Canadian originally ? ) who now lives in LA & also has the Line 6 Helix thing going on . Because in my future I think my wife & I will have to sell this house & down size I have been researching the Helix range as a way to take up less physical space in my new studio . So it's nice to know that you think so well of it. & now I am gonna listen to it again just the rock'n it out parts 'coz it's sounding brilliant .. Sony headphones just reasonable price ones But I can reference everything against them & the sound is Fab' . Big love as always to you & all of your loved ones Stay safe & I hope you get to Namm this time around . Cheers it's a lovely spring sunshine day here . But I am flat on my Back recovering from too much Garden work . Forced bed rest So thank you for brightening up my day . The other Helix user is JB Eckl . I mentioned Ludic to him so . Bye for now. & Don't work too hard . bye
I've been playing guitar for 38 years I love David Gilmore I love Pink Floyd The Wall I don't hear no flanger in the original version of this song I hear more of a phase 90 I could be wrong I'm not positive but this is what I'm hearing I don't hear no flanger on the original recording
Glad to see Ayla using modeling to help recreate iconic tones. Excellent explanation of the amp/effects side of the equation and spot on guitar specifics and tips 👍
Interesting video, but I think you missed an open A, before the open D, in the descending chord sequence (actually a Dmaj7sus2 on a guitar - which is an A but with a D on the 4th string, although played on a keyboard it's a primary triad A) I think you're playing a D11 chord instead; which sounds completely different to me.

I've never seen one of your videos that did not brighten my day. You are awesome and bring such a refreshing demeanor! Thank you and God bless you!
I agree it is almost comes natural to her and Ton of good vibes with her with this channel. 5 stars !
Love the version of this from David Gilmour’s concert at Pompei. Incredible.
I have the dubious accomplishment of having listened to the wall on an 8-track player, when I was a kid. 🎹

Great video. Gilmour is one of my top 5 biggest inspirations on guitar. It's nice to see a younger person such as yourself showing so much appreciation for the rock greats :)
Another wonderful video. Gilmore is one of my favorite guitarists for tone and you totally nailed the sound and explained it with perfect clarity.
I woke up this morning with this song playing in my head. Thank you so much for making this video it was fun to watch and inspired me grab my guitar!

Shivers right away on 10:51 my goodness what a tone

You have a knack of communicating. Really awesome video for someone just trying to get closer to the original. Keep being awesome Ayla ❤

Short and sweet by Gilmour/ Roy Harper is similar too..
Kirsty MacColl, New England?
The funny thing I found, was how much Dave's daughter looks like he did in the seventies, around the dark side of the moon era, (female version, of course) I don't know if she plays music though.
Thanks for the video. I love that you give the exact dial positions. I get every rig is different but it's a great starting point.
I love you collection. You got the Ultra Strat, the Tele, and the Les Paul. All the tone you need. Thanks for making this Pink Floyd lesson.
Your hands move like David. Especially in the higher cords. Good job on everything. I think the greatest mystery of "the floyd" is how they did everything. And it's always fun to learn
Great breakdown and well explained Run like hell” effects ! Long time player thanks you for your in depth knowledge ❤️🍀
Great demo/analysis. I love that you acknowledge how ridiculous the words are that we use to describe tone. I'm putting "funky sparkle" in my mental file box.
I listened to the Wall a million times and this is Awesome Ayla, also loved Get back. And Kent's jam demo last week, great artists🎸
Fun and informative video! Please do more of these. You really helped me understand my effects a little better.
So, thanks for the great video. I have a Line 6 Pod Go, which has the same sounds as the Helix, but way less dsp. So I skipped the boost and just turned up the gain on the HiWatt. Sounds awesome and the flanger was the special sauce I was missing.
Very, Very Well Explained. Thanks for you time and this Video. Excellent!!
Very in depth and well played but as a beginner way over my head book marked for later use thanks as always
Your videos are so damn cool. I'm actually learning a LOT about guitar from this channel. So thank you.
We need amp videos with Ayla!
What amp for beginners, what amp for pros, Aylas fav amps etc etc
Plz make it happen🙏🙏🙏
I loved watching this video. You made it so fun. I smiled through the whole thing. Thank you for sharing.
Great work...my personal favorite guitarist...Thanks 😎👍
Wow you got it! You are a great! This is one of my favourite songs as well

We need more tele users with Helix on youtube.
This is one of my cover bands signature tunes.
Finally, someone got it right. THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks to the RUclips algorithm for bringing me to your channel! Fantastic content and great presentation. Thank you!
It's good to know specifically what you're using your equipment for. Sometimes I will experiment with equipment. I've just started learning. 🙂
Love how you broke down the problem and segmented up the vid. Awesome. Your sound is the closest I've heard. By the way, perhaps I heard some ground loop buzzing so maybe try a 3-2 prong adapter.
Your vids are always so good and enjoyable to watch.
Great video! Definitely helped! That track kills me every time 😍🎸
Just made a preset in Bias FX based on your pedal settings and with very minor adjustments (because of the pedals being different) I got pretty dang close. Thanks!!!

Nice work Ayla! Love your videos!
very good work! thank you
Outstanding playing and tones!
This was great! Love tone vids, and Floyd. So win/win!
Oohh yes more Pink Floyd videos ❤️❤️
Great job capturing that tone and the playing. 😮 Really interesting analysis.

It was a Fender Champion 100 combo amp now you know what he used in the studio I love your show by the way

Been working on this for sevearal weeks now and dropping the bottom E string makes sense.
Very inspiring indeed. Thanks very much.
Have you uploaded this preset to anywhere?? Its perfect

I saw this and thought maybe I can translate this to my Helix LT. And then your helix popped up. Excellent!
Lovely video! Thanks for it!...more for the "to learn" playlist.
Wow! I wish I had the patience to figure out effects and the way they work. Its seems so complex. I didn't know that there where 2 delays and and a tape used for this song. Thanks for the tip.😁👍

You're really expert at this.
So elegantly done thank you

The Electric Mistress is also the secret sauce for Andy Summers' "chorus" sound ;)
You have got the groove!
Unforgettable. Thanks
This is amazing, thank you
Great sound , it’s PF for sure 🥰😘
Fantastic job, thanks!
wonderful sound and explanation !! 🤟👍
Great video … thank you.
I saw Pink Floyd do this song on 1988. My head almost exploded.
Very cool. Thanks!
I like specific details.
Helix now has all the kit you've mentioned. I love my Helix :)
Thanks for sharing, very informative.
Yes, it would help to be in the same studio, amps and effect boxes but to get the exact sound you also need David Gilmore's fingers.
Delay 1.
380 ms (Delay time)
66 % (Feedback)
56 % (Mix)
Delay 2.
507 ms (Delay time)
5 % (Feedback)
40 % (Mix)
Great work!!
This is great! Have you made this preset available anywhere?
Wow! Nicely done! :)
I love how stoned ayla is !
Wow..fantastic !!
Nice work!
I saw a video where he was talking about playing his guitar plugged directly into the mixing board for another brick in the wall.
Fantastic video!
Isn't she just awesome and beautiful
You are awesome and beautiful Steve.
Awesome so amazing!
