I remember hearing him compared to your girlfriends disapproving dad after you bring her home late one night. Way, WAY scarier than some musclebound doof.
Arn Anderson's Spinebuster was perfect. The smoothness, the momentum, the anticipation at the top, the impact, and that sit up... Like an artist enjoying his latest masterpiece.
WWE's ring used to have a large spring underneath it that they could tighten or loosen depending on what matches were on and who was in them. So for the larger wrestlers like Yoko, Taker, Sid, Bam Bam, Hogan etc they would tighten it up as they were heavier guys so the ring would take their weight but still have some form of bounce to it. For lighter guys they would loosen the spring leading to the ring becoming more bouncy allowing for high flying moves to be performed and more give on the canvas leading to some of the more high flying matches where the ring seems like a bouncing castle. They got rid of the spring a while ago now and its more akin to a WCW ring with just the wooden boards across a metal frame whereby the metal frame is light enough to bend but strong enough to take on the larger wrestlers. But WWE's ring never changed size, its always been a 20x20 (sometimes they did use an 18x18 but mainly for house shows as its easier to transport). But WCW used a smaller 15x15 or 16x16, this allowed for less bounce and more impactful hits on the canvas and not to forget but the smaller the ring the larger the wrestlers look especially on TV.
Definitely one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. Constant professional and he cared about his opponents health. He admitted in an interview that he didn't even drink with the other horsemen when they were at wild parties. I have the upmost respect for him.
I dunno some of them he had his head really far down like he was driving them into the mat & you’re usually supposed to lift up beforehand. That’s how Ahmed Johnson broke a few of Farooq’s ribs, was by driving him to the mat with his head down.
I could sit here and watch Arn Anderson dropping spinebusters all day. What a beautiful move, and the way he did it - twisting around before driving the opponent into the mat - always looked so devastating to watch. One of the best moves by one of the best of all time.
Cleanest spine buster ever. The timing. The height, rotation combined with gravity makes it look like he is actually trying to tackle them into the mat. Always flat and evenly distributed with bounce. Safe and critical looking at the same time
Funnily enough Karl Anderson does a really good spinebuster, if he was bigger and taller it would probably look better but i guess Andersons does the move well lmao
Flair took that move so well! It looks like he even puts more of his lower back into the bump instead of just flopping his body back. Really looks believable, miss this kind of wrestling
With how quiet the crowd was in some of these, it really makes me wish I had been a wrestler during that time. I would have had no problem getting put into the spinebuster. As I'm raised in the air, the crowd hears me shout out "OH GOD!" and BOOM! I'm out like a shattered light bulb.
Arn's spinebuster is a thing of beauty. The way he does it is a work of art and aside from probably CW Anderson IMO, no other wrestler has come close to doing it as well.
The TRUE MASTER OF THE SPINE BUSTER ! DOUBLE AA ! Arn Anderson Enforcer of the 4 horseman ! With that move he should have wore that original 10 lb of gold around his waist but he did for the team ! 4 EVER Ride on ! 🐎 4 LIFE 👍 !
That spinebuster on Undertaker...I love how Arn pauses for a second after hitting the move before he rolls out of the ring, as if he's saying, "Yup...still got it." And knowing Undertaker, he was probably thrilled to be part of the spot.
What I loved about Arn was while everyone either looked like models, ugly monsters or roided out freaks he just looked like the average blue collar guy who enjoys to brawl
Growing up in the 80s, 6-16, I watched all wrestling but I thought I was a wwf kid. But now when look up classics it's Arn Anderson and the origional 4 horseman and the Road Warriors wherever they were I seek out most. Didn't realise at the time I dug Arn Anderson as much as I obviously did
To me arm Anderson will always have the best spine buster I've ever seen . Me and my brother use to debate this when we was kids. And it still holds true. I've seen some impressive variations of the move, but it's just something magical in the technique how arm does it.
Arn Anderson”spine buster like watching moving art. From the lift, to the left leg lifting up to help the Elevation and the follow through. Just beautiful to watch.
The Survivor Series 88 one on Shawn Michaels is one I always remember. Everything about it is perfect. The camera angle, the sound, the smoothness of the motion. Even Tully celebrating just feels perfectly timed. Goes in my ultimate highlights reel
A man of pure technique! Between this and his DDT, Arn was one of the snappiest wrestlers in the business. I mean, Triple H did the spinebuster for 25 years, and never quite got the torque on it that Arn did. The tribute was there, but it was never the thing of beauty and craftsmanship that Double A brought to it.
It's great that you saved Arn Anderson's spinebuster on The Undertaker until the end, since it's one of the best in this bunch. Selling it as well as 'Taker did was a great show of respect to Arn as well. 🙂
The catch, the pivot, the protection… Arn Anderson (Marty Lunde) is a man who every wrestler should watch. Psychologically, physically and also emotionally. Nobody has to listen to him, but they’re fools if they don’t.
People have a hard time admitting that Hogan sold very well. He did his entire career. He had a few bad misses in his older years. Not bad enough to ruin how great he was at selling moves. The first time HBK hit him with SCM. Good stuff.
For anyone who's followed wrestling for more than a handful of years will easy have this in there top 10 most iconic moves , coliseum video made sure we never forgot it that's for sure
Best sellers of the AA spine Buster Shawn obviously is number 1. Followed by flair just walking into it lol, sting, taker, regal, Marc mero sold pretty well… and of course dolph Ziegler(it should of been me)
If you look at this video... AA is spinebusting LEGENDS... Barry Windham, Brian Pillman, Stone Cold Steve Austin (he was Stunning Steve Austin then), Curt Henning, Shawn Micheals.. The list goes on... FOUR HORSEMEN FOR EVER!!!!
What's really cool is how you can see that every one is slightly different. Arn will roll out differently, come into it differently, etc. He was such a taletn
#this is Anthony from the DMV back in the day I don't care what nobody says ARN ANDERSON IS THE BEST UNDERRATED WRESTLER OF ALL TIME YOU CAN SPINE BUSTER EVERY WRESTLER INCLUDING THE NATURE BOY BUT WHEN HE IS FINE IN THE PINE THE UNDERTAKER CLASSIC AND WITH RESPECT 🐴 4 LIFE 👍 ☝️🤕🤠 HE SHOULD BE REUNITED WITH TULLY BLANCHARD WHO CARES ABOUT THE BRAIN BUSTERS THEY WILL STILL HONORED AS THE FOUR HORSEMEN THE MOST UNDERRATED TAG TEAM IN WRESTLING HISTORY. 🐴 4 EVER AND SHOULD BE IN THE CLASS IN THE RUSSELL HALL OF FAME WITH THE UNDERTAKER 👍
It's the gawd damn look of definitive confidence looking down after nailing the move and the arm movement that Arn Anderson did on the Undertaker that leaves such an impression on the mind, even as a little kid watching it. I've never seen him before, but he left a gawd DAMN memory for me even if it's just a few seconds because of the way he did it. The body language of someone who is a bad ass. Just taking that brief second to let him look at the damage he did before getting out is better than alot of other sneak attacks because it was just enough to let you know WHO it was, but enough to know that it will still be effective when he rolls out.
Great wrestlers tell a story, but Anderson's spinebuster was poetry. The lift, the pause at the top, the precise rotation and vicious snap to the canvas ... it communicated something about the man who did it, a move both elegant and angry.
Arn Anderson Is the GOAT at the SpineBuster. No one else can compare to how fluid the motion was for Arn. He made it look so beautiful. There are certain moves done by certain wrestlers that make them the GOAT's at that signature move. Spinebuster-Arn Anderson, Spear-Goldberg/Edge, Superkick-Shawn Michaels, Neckbreaker-Rick Rude, Headbutt- Bobo Brazil, The Claw-Baron Von Raske, The Clothesline- JBL, Cutter-Randy Orton/DDP, Figure 4- Buddy Rogers/Rick Flair, etc...... the list goes on and on. These are just my opinion of who has the best of these moves.

WWE / WCW Arn Anderson's finisher.
Pretty sure around the 1:16 mark that’s him hitting one on Austin
I love Arn. He looks like your uncle that enjoys getting into fights a little too much.
I remember hearing him compared to your girlfriends disapproving dad after you bring her home late one night. Way, WAY scarier than some musclebound doof.
He's your uncle that loves his Glock a little too much lol
That's literally just the Anderson's in a nutshell
Arn's that uncle at the BBQ who ain't taking any kid's shit.
I love being that uncle.
Triple H, The Rock, Ron Simmons, JBL delivered some impressive spine busters in their time but Arn Anderson is by far the master of the spine buster.
Ṇot just the master, the pioneer.
Triple H's spine buster looks like it was heavily inspired by this one. Same with Batista, but to a lesser degree.
@@PacketWrangler How could Batista's be inspired by AA? He didn't even do the spin!
@Eric Levingston I've always like Ron Simmons's and I do find myself liking how smooth the Rock's is sometimes
The rock had more of double leg counter than a spine buster.
The low center of gravity, the lift in the hips. The controlled rotation. A perfectly executed move each and every time.
It's that little pause at the top, when the opponent sees what's coming. Insult added to injury.
It looks like it would kill you, but probably felt like a back bump. That man is my GOAT
Definitely the pause and snap
Arn Anderson's Spinebuster was perfect. The smoothness, the momentum, the anticipation at the top, the impact, and that sit up... Like an artist enjoying his latest masterpiece.
Well said!!!
I absolutely adored that spinebuster he got on Undertaker at Mania. The crowd exploded.
Can't wait to se your Ron Simmons compilation!
Lol, it will be the next one
it was beautiful
Arn's spinebuster was the most beautiful - Farooq's was the most violent. Both were great.
@@MrHarris73 No doubt. Ron Simmons looked like he was trying to put his opponent through the ring.
Oh yeah, that Spinebuster was great.
FINALLY! There's an AA Spinebuster comp on RUclips!
A million times THIS.
BECAUSE THEIR ALL TRASH EXCEPT ON THE UNDERTAKER.
I KNOW RIGHT!
That's literally what I typed into the searchbar
I would also like a AA DDT compilation. Arn also had arguably the best DDT in the biz alongwith Jake Roberts.
I loved the way the WCW's canvas sounded when someone would hit it. Just felt more impactful/devastating than WWE's canvas.
YES! Always wondered why that is. Really loved the sound of the WCW canvas.
@@Soulrakk not sure why WWE's still sounds like crap. WCW > AEW > ROH > WWE.
💯% TRUE
Sounded like pain! Made it seem REAL!!!
WCW rings were smaller and the canvas was a bit more hollow causing the ring to sound like it was about to break after every bump
His spinebuster looks so clean. If you watch slowmo its also one of the safest executions of the move.
Absolutely agree.
He made them look vicious, but I think that the one recieving it feels almost nothing.
Look like a few guys heads slammed into the mat though when slams them on their back vs their butt
Definitely one of my favorite wrestlers growing up. Constant professional and he cared about his opponents health. He admitted in an interview that he didn't even drink with the other horsemen when they were at wild parties. I have the upmost respect for him.

That’s what you call a beast. Not like some knucklehead going out and being brutal like they have something to prove. Arn was nasty and clean with it.
You can see he takes care of his opponents and makes sure nobody gets injured. Class act.
How is that class act?
@@cezarmagicchess3665 Is it not class act to make sure you don’t intentionally injure anybody?
2:22 this one at WM18 just hits every button for me… its so satisfying to watch and I cant put my finger on it, could watch it over and over
From the surprise entrance to the execution, hell even the roll out was sexy
Shawn Michaels took it perfectly.
Best sell in the whole comp, IMO. He gave it that extra oomph when he hit.
Yeah the speed and force that Michaels got on those spinebusters enabled Arn to do the super cool pop back up spot.
Hogan took it pretty good as well!
I could sit here and watch Arn Anderson dropping spinebusters all day. What a beautiful move, and the way he did it - twisting around before driving the opponent into the mat - always looked so devastating to watch.
One of the best moves by one of the best of all time.
The WCW ring makes this move sound so much more intense then some of the other rings in this video. Love that sound
The master of spinebuster.. no one can top this legend
First time I witnessed the Arn Special ..
Hands down in my yung mind , I thought to myself, this is thee most impressive move ever.
No one has ever came close do it better then Arn. Of of the most underrated wrestler.
He hit that thing on some of the all-time great of the business. What a highlight reel! Thanks for the upload.
I measure Spinebusters on the Arn Anderson scale..it goes from 1 to Arn Anderson.
0:17 that was glorious.
perfection
Cleanest spine buster ever. The timing. The height, rotation combined with gravity makes it look like he is actually trying to tackle them into the mat. Always flat and evenly distributed with bounce. Safe and critical looking at the same time
Arn Anderson delivered the best Spinebuster ever, in my opinion.Legendary.
Funnily enough Karl Anderson does a really good spinebuster, if he was bigger and taller it would probably look better but i guess Andersons does the move well lmao
Arn has that extra torque at the end ti really make it devastating.
# spine on the pine TOTALLY AWESOME !
Perfect everytime. A thing of beauty. ART..
aside from an amazing spinebuster, he’s always looked 45, even today
One of those moves when you hear the crowd go oooooh (bet that hurt)!! Perfection every time
Flair took that move so well! It looks like he even puts more of his lower back into the bump instead of just flopping his body back. Really looks believable, miss this kind of wrestling
his spinebuster on taker is just immaculate.
0:31 That was a beautiful spinebuster.
The way he pulls the trigger on those spinebusters always ensures that he hits his target.
Arm Anderson is the hardest working man in professional wrestling!!! And he is the catalyst in the 4 Horsemen!!! Spinebuster…. Nuff said.
Arn's spinebuster is a thing of beauty. The way he does it is a work of art and aside from probably CW Anderson IMO, no other wrestler has come close to doing it as well.
I love that little Roll Arn does when he’s done performing the spinebuster
Arn with that Spinebuster was butter. He was so smooth with that move.
Beautiful!!!
Nobody does it like him.
In my opinion still the smoothest Spinebuster in the business.
Me: Can a spinebuster really make for a convincing finisher?
Arn Anderson: Yes. Observe.
The irony is that Arn didn't necessarily rely on the Spinebuster as a finish. He often used the DDT.
@@LMLR187 Or the gordbuster.
Nobody delivers a more impactful spinebuster than Arn Anderson.
ABSOLUTELY NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!!
That spinebuster on Undertaker...I love how Arn pauses for a second after hitting the move before he rolls out of the ring, as if he's saying, "Yup...still got it."

This brought the hugest smile to my face. Thank you.
That was some fine spinebusting. Love watching AA work.
0:07 "YEEEEAAAAAP"
Lmfao 😅
Arn's SB is a carefully crafted dance. Punishing and graceful. He's the master of this move. All hail Double A!
Greatest thing ever. A MILLION thank you's, a like & a sub!

I did one of these in third grade during baseball, oh man Old ass Mr. Platt the principle rip me a new one.
Those spine busters are gorgeous! Watching AA do those makes me happy.
The crowd should be EXPLODING with each of these
the attitude era crowd was unique, u wont see that again for decades!
Such a simple move but so much impact
There's nothing more satisfying than seeing Arn's perfect spinebuster on a WCW ring, and hearing that impact sound.
Can’t lie I love the Move alone but the way Arn does it is just beautiful
Very surprising how well Hogan would take this move, not Shawn level but damn close to it.
Hogan definitely knew what the move was supposed to look like and sold it great!
I agree and ric flair sold it the worst in these clips.
To me arm Anderson will always have the best spine buster I've ever seen . Me and my brother use to debate this when we was kids. And it still holds true. I've seen some impressive variations of the move, but it's just something magical in the technique how arm does it.
It wasn't until JR at 00:37 that the spinebuster was called by name.
Arn Anderson”spine buster like watching moving art. From the lift, to the left leg lifting up to help the Elevation and the follow through. Just beautiful to watch.
Nobody had a more vicious spine buster than Double A!!!
Had a great DDT too
We need a CW Anderson spinebuster compilation next
the beauty is the opponent kind of stopped midair for a very brief short time before followed by fast body twist to the mat.
The Survivor Series 88 one on Shawn Michaels is one I always remember. Everything about it is perfect. The camera angle, the sound, the smoothness of the motion. Even Tully celebrating just feels perfectly timed. Goes in my ultimate highlights reel

Arn Anderson's Spinebuster, a work of art and one of the best finishers ever.
AA's spinebuster is iconic. THANK YOU . Just like Kane's uppercut. They look mint every damn time

Except for that chokeslam from the undertaker
He always sold individuals moves well. The issue is really about his hulking up on other guy’s finishers.
Best spine buster in the business. Both slow and fast versions.

Seeing Flair take the spinebuster looks wrong. But seeing it on Hogan, well that's just perfect.
Back then when finishers weren't normal moves and actually finished matches
Vince McMahon: "Beautiful maneuver."
Jim Ross: "There's that spinebuster!"
Vince was always the shits as the play-by-play announcer.
Green Goblin be like
This is therapeutic. This my boy AA
Arn giving a spine buster is interesting. It starts out so gracefully and ends looking like a head on collision. Just a great move.
Wow, lots of legends taking that patented spine buster. AA like a boss!
He must've taught Ron Simmons how to do a spinebuster cuz I've yet to see another execute it with such finesse
@Adam Sandoval I have to agree with you on that
What's really cool is how you can see that every one is slightly different. Arn will roll out differently, come into it differently, etc. He was such a taletn

You know you've mastered a move when the announcers are reacting like it's your finisher.
Arn Anderson's had the best Spine Buster, it was a thing of Beauty
Arn was so smooth
The master indeed. So fluid and actually looks as if it would break your back if done by a casual
That twist and his leg like pops up just a work of art
My fave Spine buster was the one on Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 88. At 0:17 I'm glad you included it
Picture...perfect... absolutely flawless
Great wrestlers tell a story, but Anderson's spinebuster was poetry. The lift, the pause at the top, the precise rotation and vicious snap to the canvas ... it communicated something about the man who did it, a move both elegant and angry.
The best way to put it: "Often imitated,... never duplicated. "
The one on undertaker is perfect - best by a country mile!
