- World Class bodybuilder Gunter Schlierkamp begins his comeback to his sport with a photo session with Per Bernal. Gunter and his wife Kim Lyons (biggest Loser) are weeks away from having their first child. It's a great shoot and Gunter is funny and charming.

I met Gunter in 1998 I think at a bodybuilding pre qualifier at UC Berkeley. He was humongous ! He's great with his fans. Ronnie Coleman was there signing autographs...... Nobody wanted his. Gunter was the crowd favorite.

Yo Gunter! Where do I get that green tank top at?
He always talks in such a soft voice. I think it would help him to not try to soften it so much. Heck it cracks all the time, as if he is working too hard to talk that soft on purpose. I remember on a video of him here, one he accidentally pinched a finger on the dumbell rack, and his voice dropped to a deep scary bass, as he uttered "Arrggh Fuggggck!!!" looked freaking awesome scary. He should drop the nice guy soft voice thing. I think it hurts his image more than it helps.

The real Mr. Olympia 2002
Always been a fan of Gunter's. If there ever was a good representative for a performance art (better category for bodybuilding) that tends to chew guys up and spit them out... Gunter represented everything good in it. Sadly he competed in a time period of Mass Monsters with bloated stomachs, and the Apex of the arms race for size and definition. He became a mass monster himself... but never seemed like that was his niche. He wanted to be like Arnold. His comeback never did pan out, he seemed to lose interest on returning to the stage.
Had he not been such a soft spoken guy he probably would have became famous outside of bodybuilding like Arnold. Gunter was simply too "gentle". Tried to speak with a higher pitched German accent, perhaps to make himself sound softer... but coupled with his deep voice resulted in sounding like Kermit the Frog.
