First of all, I think her family should be praised in how they’ve gently nurtured Angelina’s natural talent and skill from a very young age.
Secondly, this young lady could sing the phone book, in any beat, tempo, rhythm , genre, and make it unique and soulfully melodic.
She could sing Happy Birthday and have it sound as though you never heard the song before in your life.
That’s power. There are only perhaps a dozen such people on the planet capable of such a feat.
Thank the tech gods and talent scouts they have video of her going back to 7 years old so we can all witness her progress as she now enters into young adulthood.
It’s good to be alive with Angelina Jordan in the world.

I think there are 2 things about Angelina at this age. The first, as you mentioned, is her incredible control of her lower register (watch "How Great Thou Art" for a master class). The second - even at this young age, you can feel every bit of soul and emotion coming from within her. No other singer, no matter what age, does that as well as her in my opinion. So glad you have become an Angel - please bring your wife along too!
Angelina is a typical 8-year-old Norwegian girl who understands English and speaks with just a hint of a British accent. Then she takes the stage. In a split second, she becomes this 30-year-old professional jazz singer with a completely different American voice, confident and relaxed, and delivers the song with precise timing, perfect pitch, and much emotion. She has arranged the song so that it starts out slowly, switches to jazz/blues, and gently builds in tempo, amplitude, and pitch to the finale (where she very unusually ran out of air). It is over and again, in a split second, she is the little eight-year-old again. There is no explaining that. She says that when she sings, she goes to a really nice place where she feels good. There really is a homemade video of a few seconds of Angelina at age 1-1/2 with a toy microphone in her hand singing the Whitney Houston song "I Will Always Love You." From age 7, when she first auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, to the present 16 years old, she has steadily increased her prowess as a vocal artist until her age is irrelevant. She is now a world-class star. And humble, and kind, and a bit shy. Her contract with Republic Records should bring her international acclaim.

You should have played the introductory chat because there she is just this adorable 8 year old little girl, and then suddenly, when she gets to the microphone, she's like a 30-something seasoned jazz performer. Unbe-freaking-lievable! Now you need to check out the version she sang for Quincey Jones' 85th birthday bash at the O2 arena when she was 12 - complete with top notch jazz orchestra and the original Quincey Jones arrangement. 1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway.
2. AJ is currently signed with Republic Records.
3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music.
4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. Hopefully this will remain as she continues her career with Republic.
5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot and I hope by now that you have discovered the incredible reason why she does that.
6. AJ sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old!
7. We all hope to enjoy her performances for many years to come.
8. BTW I'm 80 and have been involved privately in music since age 7.

She has been called a musical prodigy by many, and I can't argue with that at all. After she performed Bohemian Rhapsody on America's Got Talent-Champions the remaining members of Queen put a link to her performance on their page and gave her their permission to copyright her version. Growing up she would listen to Jazz with her grandma (A Prodigy in her own right) and the outfit she wore for the performance was designed by her and her grandma. Once you fall down the rabbit hole there is no going back. Love your reactions, they bring a huge smile listening and watching how she affects you. :)
The Barefoot Angel at 8 years old coming from Norway to the USA, appearing in a popular daytime TV show, and showing no sign of nervousness singing an iconic song with her unique and angelic voice. Angelina is an unmatchable artist and humanitarian.
The key to AJ is just that her brain is wired up for musicality. She has an instinct for what works musically. Add in the voice, the intellect, personality and now the looks of a model and what can you expect. Just a global super star.

She really is not "up and coming vocalist" my friend. She was a professional vocalist at 7-8 years old, better than most adult singers.. Just the way it is. When an artist that truly Respects and enjoys their craft and Loves sharing it you get what use to be called the Halo effect, (Derived from the thought that the light of an angel's halo was so brilliant and uplifting it would move people to tears of joy). Great reaction! The tears that Angelina has prompted from you so far are because of the sheer magnitude and variety of what she does, the beauty, the skill, all of it, it's overwhelming. The tears that she will demand when you listen to her original "Million Miles" as @Barry Sowder has recommended are different. She knows where the nerve is that runs to your heart and jumps on it without apology. Many get "sweaty eyeballs" but no one really minds!

Not sure about the "nerve that controls the heart" but she sure knows where the controls are on my eye sweat ducts. She jumps up and down on that one mercilessly, with that angelic grin she uses to conceal the demonic ... ah, what's the use? She has umpteen performances of this, but you may want to listen to 12 year old Angelina opening Quincy Jones’s 85th year birthday concert at the O2 (BY INVITATION). Quincy wanted her to sing his arrangement for Frank Sinatra, so that’s what she did. There is no good video from the concert itself, but some of her angels took the video from the rehearsal and used the concert audio (which went out on BBC2 the following evening), and the result is excellent! The orchestra borrowed the LSO’s studio in St Luke’s Church for their concert rehearsals.
This is where Angelina met Mark Ronson, who then sent her his background track for “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart”. Needless to say, she did a great version of it!

Bingo. What a good point you make about her ability to hit the low notes. There is a multi-verse of reasons to love Angelina, but awareness of this ability adds a new dimension. Nerd alert: I grew up listening to this song written and sang by Kay Ballard in 1954. Many other artists featured this song on their albums including Peggy Lee, Julie London, and Frank Sinatra. The closest arrangement to Angelina's version is by the Brazilian great, Astrud Giberto. Which version did she hear that made her want to sing this song...at age 8? Regardless, she made it her own. Every single plaintiff note is pure Angelina. At age 8. Boggles the mind. Great reaction especially tears within the first 8 bars.

Angelina grew up singing Jazz and this is obviously her favorite genre, the biggest influence, the origination of her versatility, deep soulful expression and deep emotional connection to her audience. She can sing any song and any genre. ♥👣
She is absolutely fearless in choice of covers. No artist is too big and no song too daunting. Most Artists shy away from singing Acappella as it will quickly show any flaws. Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣👸🏻
Angelina has the most beautiful deep voice which is always in tune and quite often in her lower register. I believe she is a Contralto which is rare for a girl especially at this age. You will soon realize she is always Pitch Perfect and always performs at a Master Class level. Her voice was powerful and beautiful at 8 yrs old and today at 16 it is phenomenal! Enjoy the ride. The one thing I believe everyone can agree with me when I say that Angelina Jordan is the type of vocalist that can switch her voice to sound as close to the original artist as possible it's not normal and I personally love how well she does it at all times

The guy is totally fake but I understand some reactors needs to be fake to attracts different fan bases. Big fan of Angelina - & your reactions.(Unfortunately on this one, you cut out her short interview before her performance. And in that interview Angelina answered 2 key questions: 1. How old were you when you started singing? Answer: 1 1/2 ! - & 2. How did you do on Norway's Got Talent? Answer: I won it at age 8 - just a few months ago!) Yes, she was 8 yo, afterwards she flew home to Norway. It was November 2014, Winter in Norway. She fulfilled one of her biggest dreams, she sang to the recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize. Singing Outside in Oslo, in November, barefoot, first for the audience and then for Malala and Keylash, and also for the royal family. She almost got pneumonia, that day, and was sick for days. a few years later, she was singing to the Obamas and Kofi Ahnan, barefoot.

"If you wanted a cover to be as close to the original as possible, you'd listen to the original." Not necessarily. Even when Angelina does a cover "as close to the original as possible", she still makes it sound better than the original. Check out her version of "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" on her CoverChannel (uploaded when she was 13). She sang it over Mark Ronson's original instrumental track, using a vocal arrangement that (to my ears) is _obviously_ intended to be as close to Miley Cyrus's original as possible. And yet… even with all the similarities, she _couldn't help_ but make it sound better (IMHO).
Now her orchestrated version when she is 12 sung for none other than Quincy Jones for his 85th Bday Event was phenomenal.

After reacting to a few other ones, I belive you must react to her rehearsal for the Quincy Jones 85rh birthday concert in O2 arena. She is 12 then.
Angelina also doesn't oversing a song. Something most young vocalists with amazing voices don't know how to do. They show off those pipes every chance they get but Angelina sings with so much restraint and control and lets the song breathe until it's time to let it all hang out. A great example of this is her performance of "Feeling Good" at Allsang På Grensen when she is 10yo, the finish is spectacular.

If you take her name “Angelina Jordan Astar” and look at the meaning of “Jordan” as in “crossing the river Jordan,” her name basically means “small angel resurrected as a star.”

Just FYI, I think Angelina's version of "Valerie" (on her CoverChannel) is sung much more like Amy's original (technically, Amy's _cover_ of that song - even more technically, Mark Ronson's cover sung by Amy) than "Back to Black" was. As with most covers she does where she "evokes" the sound of the original singer, the way she sang "Back to Black" was more like Amy "might have sung it" than how Amy _actually_ sang it. If you get my meaning. (I'm ignoring the fact that she sang completely different words, BTW. I'm only talking about the _manner_ in which she sang.)

I just think she has her own idea how every song should be sung, which will sometimes be similar and sometimes very different from how they've been done before. So I don't believe she has ever intentionally mimicked the artists she is covering as much as endorsed their choices. By Carole King's own admission, Aretha Franklin made Natural Woman her own when she covered it. Yet when Angelina sang it as a tribute to Aretha, it fascinated me, since I assume she hadn't heard the original, that it was closer to the way King did it. Apart from Fly Me To The Moon and obviously Bohemian Rhapsody, I believe Angelina's most radical reworkings are California Dreaming and Avicii's Wake Me Up, which are both almost unrecognisable.

That is an absolutely amazing song, but there is also absolutely nothing to back that statement attributed to her parents not wanting it released because of a reference to suicide. She auditioned at Norway's Got Talent singing a Billie Holiday song (Gloomy Sunday) that talks of suicide. It's a rumor that refuses to die.
