  • In 2009 I had the honor of talking with legend Rona Barrett. Throughout much of the seventies, and certainly all of the eighties, Rona Barrett was the face of Hollywood. If it mattered she said it, if it hurt she remained silent.
Today it's unfathomable that gossip has grown into - reality TV. Decorum and class have been tossed aside for bucks and booty. Kardashian creates it, the stupid eat it up. Under Rona's eye people like her would have never gotten a mention.
I often think of the old line from TV's TAXI. If I love you and your work you get a great review; If I dislike your work but like you - you get a lousy review. If I cant stand you at all - good work or bad - you get NO review; therefore your career goes no where. How we need that kind of Hollywood leadership again!

Tom, thank you for posting this! I love "Miss Rona" and have wondered what she is up to. So glad to hear she's getting into the senior housing area. So needed!

Rona is a class act. She reminds us that you have to keep going. A "purpose" is what life is about - a "reason to be" makes positive energy grow.

RONA BARRETT'S HOLLYWOOD was one of my guilty pleasures as a young teen in the USA in the early '70s. I had no allowance, so it was babysitting money. Greetings from France. :)

This lady was a "class act". My uncle was interviewed by her in 1970 when he was building Magic Mountain in Valencia, Calif. My pic depicts my uncle's hard-had worn while building the park, and the original log as well.
I have a photo of the interview, but I wish that I could procure the video as well! Thank you for posting

I Moved to LA from NJ in 84; so much has changed since even then. I wish I had a time machine. People like Rona saw LA (and maybe America) at its apex. Everything was possible. Anything you could dream (including home ownership) was obtainable. Your Uncle was a fortunate to be part of that time.
