Working on Deep Dubby Ambient Jungle in Ableton 'M25 Enfield Junction' VOD

- In this VOD I'm working a deep dubby ambient jungle track in Ableton called 'M25 Enfield Junction'. I'd hoped to stream this session but was having internet problems so just recorded it instead.
This is my second session on this track. The process is usually the same: listen back to last bounce of the tune; make some notes; save a version; do the work; bounce out; update Trello (couldn't do this as I was offline).
I felt like I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with the breaks here and my time would've been better spent just laying down the 'sound' and timbral quality of the break. That's what I needed to hear, not a million different patterns. Although in jamming out I think I stumbled on a cool little pattern towards the end.
I'm supposed to be exploring new opportunities within the track and I feel like I could've been more adventurous in trying out random stuff, instead of almost an hour programming breaks!
A lot of the sounds I'm using in this track come from @groovining: www.groovingbi...

There's a brief moment about an hour in where I chop James Brown 'Cold Sweat'. Had to mute this to avoid copyright infringement. It's only 20 seconds or so. Otherwise enjoy! ❤
love love these livestreams
Thanks so much Sara! It's amazing that people enjoy and get something from them. Personally, I've always liked watching others work and see how they do what they do. I definitely learn by just watching. Glad to hear it's resonating. Thank you.
The best in the game, madly underrated. ❤
Aw cheers Jasiu x - sorry this couldn't be live - it was weird not having the interaction!
Cheers! Will def enjoy watching this later, now off to bed.
Cheers @vndm - hope there's some useful stuff in it
@@HumanSynthetics oh I'm sure it will. Your video on the Think break helped me so much in honing my break chop skills in Ableton. Thanks mate. Beers are on me when your in Amsterdam.
Mate you've caught a wicked vibe in this one. Loved hearing some of my samples in this, really made them your own! Breaks are dope as well, I instantly went and found that Blue Magoos one. 1:01:30 sounds so sick when those melodic/harmonic bits come in over the pads. Keep it up dude✌
Easy when the sounds are so inspiring man!! I could literally make a tonne of tunes from your packs, in fact you'll probably see loads more as I started a bunch when I first bought the ones I have. Yeah that's a good one eh?! From a random folder Ned Rush sent me. You'll get this - finding exactly the right break, with the right timbre for what else is going on can be a real rabbit hole. Think bringing in 'Cold Sweat' just a tiny amount bought it to life and then stumbling on a kind of cool pattern about half way through the jam - I'll extend that section out as the 'main' pattern I think. Thanks again man - expert bare Groovin in G samples incoming!
And beers for you too @groovining. You two guys are the mentors of my second Youth as a budding junglist.
Cheers Pepijn! Hope you like the samples. We're doing another head-to-head later this month, come tune in will be fun! @@VNDM-MUSIC
@@groovining cool, looking forward to that. And yes: samples are mega inspiring. Just previewing them gets the creative juices flowing instantly.
@@VNDM-MUSIC @groovining sounds like a trip to Amsterdam is needed :) thanks so VNDM, glad to share everything I know with you, and everyone :)
so inspiring to watch! Learned a lot too 😁Thanks for sharing🙌
So very glad to spread inspiration and learning, always! Thanks for the kind words Peralta
@HumanSynthetics M25 Enfield junction? I’m M25 Potters Bar junction 😅
Hahaha yeah! I know it well. I used to go to school in goffs oak (same primary school as Victoria Beckham incidentally!). I have fond memories of the Enfield garden centre and aquatic centre which was just off the Enfield junction, as well as being the way mum drove me to school. Guess I was kind of just channeling those times and memories. Would've been about 96!
Crews Hill!! I hit those gardening joints this week with the kids 😄 Great videos- I’ve managed to watch a few. I’ll try to send you a ‘finished’ tune at some point
