This was their pinnacle, their most successful/monumental album. The rest were great but this will always be their #1
Absolutely agree! I found this gem back in 1999, and although Spiritual Black Dimensions was just released, Enthrone was the music for me.
This album has gotten me into black metal when I was young. It is so well composed and so wicked, with great lyrics and Shagrath's voice is great to say the least.
This one is timeless and coming back to it is always a delight!
It has some cheesy lyrics here and there... "Lust, sex and sodomy", " we spit and piss on his sacred flesh" and many others, but musically it's flawless. Oh, and they were 19-20 when they wrote this, so the immaturity is to be expected....

A real masterpiece! I saw them live in Stockholm 1997...first gig outside Norway. Yes Im old but really proud of that. I fucking love this album still today...stay metal!

Dimmu Borgir albums. Mostly because of their dark and demonic sound. And i see SBD as one of the darkest albums ever made. But this album brings back so many great memories it's so hard to select an top 6 Dimmu albums!

My teenage years, so much power in this. This for me is best dimmu borgir album, every song is classic, catchy melodies, melanholy, great riffs, its simple and great. Every song have personality and have that catchy melodies that are so legendary. After this album borgir goes to much proggressive and experimental.
The guy who played the keyboards for this album kicks ass!
That would be Mustis, I stopped listening to DImmu seriously after he left.

Muchos aportes y enriquecimiento artístico y sin duda alguna ese piano lo hizo brillar lástima que no se le atribuyó el reconocimiento que merece siendo el corazon de la banda y lo que le dio ese tono que distinguió a esta banda tan especial. Ojalá que por lo menos nos traigan un álbum como este en algún momento!

this one is my personal favorite dimmu album ever; perhaps because I had some of the best times of my life when this album came out and I played the shit out of it ... it's embedded itself into my life force and my death force when I'm gone
Probably not your death force, after you die it will be nothing, an experience that is no more and irrelevant. Find beauty in that if you will.
"IN DEATH'S EMBRACE" my favorite song from that album. This song brings me good memories

By far dimming Borgers best album by far up in my top 10 just behind slayer reign in blood masterpiece
That's the song that got me to pick up the album. Heard it randomly on someone's myspace back in the day lol. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed. While In Death's Embrace is great, A Succubus In Rapture and Spellbound are the top contenders for me. Also, the guitar tone on this album is terrific.

@@hauntedhotdog Great songs in this album, but Spitural black dimensions' Reptile and Dreamside Dominions are the greatest songs they ever produced. Abrahadabra's Dimmu Borgir and Eonian's Interdimensional Summit also give me goosebumps.
This was such a good album.. I did like Spiritual Black Dimensions, but this one and Godless Savage Garden have such a unique tone to them...and Entrance is still one of the best songs ever. Stormblast was great, pure raw black, but I still keep this one in pretty heavy rotation. Good to see it up here, and hopefully introduce a new audience to a classic sound!

It’s the presence of the keys in the mix. They are so prominent. This album overall really showed the true power of black metal.
Entrance is my favorite one too, but it has a few other competitors. A Succubus in Rapture just takes it to a new Dimension of the Spiritual and Black variety (haha), LOL. Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia was my first, I love that one just as much, sometimes more, but I think this one wins for me.
The Night Masquerade has the best vocals from Shagrath in their entire catalog. Still my favourite album to this day.

It was the only way to get to the masses. I think their first 2 albums are more interesting, and have a lot more variety. Specially "For All Tid."
I was 18 when i discovered this album.
And i listened it during my visit in the Vatican lol. My family looked at me like "wtf are wrong with this guy? He makes strange face expressions" lol😂.
Now i'm 41. Good memories.
As far as DB goes. Stormblast will always be my favorite. I feel that album is incredibly special.

My all time favorite album... so many late night memories listening to this.
I adore this album, what a fucking masterpiece. So many achingly enticing riffs.
I still remember that amazing night in 2012 when they played it in its entirety.
The is the 1st time I listened to the whole album and I'm amazed, damn!. It's not pure BM and that's just great, some old school Thrash metal roots, symphonic atmosphere and great vocals. It's a Masterpiece from DM.

This version of Enthroned Darkness Triumphant is a Reissue from the Year 2007/2008 10th Aniversary edition if im not wrong
Raabjørn song originally is from For All Tid
But For All Tid Album songs, specially this song and others Like Hunnerkongens was re-recorded at 98 EP Godless Savage Garden
Passed the test of time with the highest marks. On repeat since 1999.
Some of my favorite parts:
22:00 that scream is incredible
25:30 strong Stormblåst-vibes, always loved this riff!
27:22 how can you not love this part?
41:34 So much atmosphere!
47:43 Honestly I could repeat this part forever. It's one of the most beautiful musical parts of their entire discography and one of the most beautiful musical parts I know.
There are way too many others to mention. Such a great record. I feel like the production is a bit too polished and lifeless (Edit: I don't think it's lifeless anymore, just a bit too compressed for my liking), but thankfully the keyboard arrangements and beautifully melodic riffs more than make up for that, and create one hell of an atmospheric record. One of their finest efforts alongside Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon.

After spiritual black dimensions they go different style of metal, and it is not black metal. Old good times from 90's, those wos great times. And In here finland, we have many great black metal bands, old ones and New bands. Hail To the True black metal!!!!

I'm 63+; first time I listened to them. This album will be a go to for sure.
Such a darker element from their later work. Absolute masterpiece. 27:20 is such a gem with that nasty bass leading in with the layered guitars. Just good stuff.
Returning to my teens. There was some controversy about commercial back in the days about the lyrics chancing to english....But I loved it and I still do.

Even though I enjoy Dimmu's material up to Abrahadabra, this album is probably my favorite from them.
They never topped the melodic staples of this album, Dimmu went too mainstream after this.

Their best ever album. An overall fantastic release, and an essential black metal album. I ve always thought of them as a user friendly version of Emperor (no offence intended), which actually is quite good, as a concept and as a way to perhaps introduce people to black metal, who otherwise would be unable or unwilling to comprehend it. Thank you Dimmu for this fantastic album. I also like a lot their ''For All Tid'' album , if I spell it correctly.

Probably with the time they win in technique BUT The essence now is lost.....
Discovered some great black metal stuff from 1994 onward, but this one marked the decade for me. Hell I even didn't have the money to buy the album back then but every song stuck like gum. Tried to catch them all on cassette from the local metal radio show.
