I broke up with my hobonichi for the composition book!! Best decision i made! Cheaper and i could make it the way i wanted! I covered the front with vinyl🤷♀️🤭
I gave up on traditional planners over a year ago and started using the Composition Notebook. I cover mine and decorate them. I am so happy that I can get three quarters in one book. I do a monthly and weekly calendar, daily work notes, sermon notes, etc! Yours looks great!
Oh hi! I am so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you!! I love that you decorate the cover and you can get three quarters in one book?? THAT IS AWESOME!! I hope you have a wonderful day and again, I am happy you are here!
I’m a writer and artist and so have used a wide range of different notebooks/journals/sketchbooks , and it’s funny but I always go back to the composition notebook lol. They make writing and creating so easy and inviting. I think it’s because they’re classic and nostalgic of childhood. Also they seem “serious”, as in you’re doing serious work, but yet they’re cheap so you don’t feel precious about them. I love the black and white cover pattern style. I also love yellow legal pads.
I love walmart composition book. Been using one as a journal and it's been working really well, even with fountain pens. I can glue to my heart's content without feeling bad about ruining a pretty notebook.
I use washi tape and tape 2 pages together. I then can slip a piece of cardstock or something heavy between the 2 to prevent bleeding/ghosting. Pull it out when done with that page. I use these a lot for art, for specific goal planning, journaling, and for a creative outlet. I love your spread! The tape method also allows me to use watercolors, water color pencils, gelatos, etc.
I run to your channel lately to see what new and creative layout you come up with! The way you transform these pages is awe inspiring! The planner peace feeling with these lil' $1 notebooks is REAL tho, right??? I'm here for it all! Happy Tuesday!
Hi!😊 so, planner peace, I don’t know if it’s planner peace for me because I’ve been really fortunate to be happy and inspired by the planner I chose for each year but the hobonichi weeks is my personal next level. Before I would do 1 planner and 1 journal for the year. That was it. Anything more and I felt overwhelmed, it was too much. I am so happy and so comfortable in the weeks that it’s like my cozy little security blanket and I’m trying other journals, I’m using more of my stuff than ever! I have watched altered composition book videos and I have made a couple but I used mine for creative journal book things. I love the idea and think they’re so fun! This spread is super pretty! I love these soft and neutral colors you’ve been showing, it’s gorgeous and inspiring!!🥰 I hope you have an amazing week, thank you so much and sending all the love!!❤
I looooooove me a good composition notebook. Unfortunately I live in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and we can’t buy those😢, so I’ll have to make do with different notebooks. I ❤ your layouts, they’re so pretty 🤩.
Oh my, I can’t imagine life without a composition book! I’m in the US, do you want me to send you some? I can send it to a P.O. Box or post office (or the Netherlands equivalent) 🙂
@@nicolew8347 aaahhhw!!! That is so sweet! But luckily we do have notebooks (just different ones) and I have so many of them that I can bury me, myself and I and my entire family underneath them 🤣😂. Thank you so much for the offer, though, I truly appreciate it🥰❤️
I don't have a life so I use them as art journals. Love them! I have purchased all sorts of planners in the past but finally came to the realization that it isn't the planner that is the problem, it is my lack of having anything to record. I can do it all on a calendar. I would LOVE to actually USE one though...call it FOMO :).
I've been making planners and journals from composition books, for the past 6 months. I use one for a monthly planner, and another for twice daily journaling, for that month. I also have a couple for party planning, events and trips, one for my sewing projects, one for household projects, a reading log, etc. I have ADD and easily get bored with a planner, so I was spending a small fortune, switching mid-year. My creativity is satisfied because each month, I am decorating a planner and journal for the next month. It's allowing me to use stickers I have been stashing. I also use $1.84 pack of BIC Crystal colored pens, and crayola markers, to decorate. So, yea. It's definitely a win, for me.
I often cut down my comp. notebooks to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and for some reason that gives me planner peace. I only use mine for journaling, though, and those who have more to plan, or need an agenda, the comp. notebook is perfect, I would say. You can glue stick two pages together all through, as well, and then you don't have bleeding or ghosting. Love the way you organized your pages, though! I can see how it includes everything you could need!
These are currently 50 cents at Walmart for back-to-school season. Awesome. They also come in wide rule, but I prefer college rule or 5x5 grid (Unison brand on Amazon). Yea, there are a billion “altered” comp book videos on YT, but I stopped watching them because I’m far more interested in actual, functional planning (with occasional stickers and washi here & there). I also love the classic black & white marble covers and don’t like to cover them up. They’re nostalgic for me. I just put a small sticker on the lower right corner, usually. I also cover my comp books with clear contact paper to make them durable (just the covers, not the spine, because I like that to stay as flexible as possible so I can fold the notebook back when needed). I plan to sell off my collection of expensive leather planner covers and stay with blank notebooks going forward. Planning does not have to be expensive or complicated. ❤️
@@planwithapril2280 I have watched several people use altered composition notebooks and I am very intrigued! I too have used Hobonichi planners for some time. My composition notebook is my all in one book: planner and journal and notebook for lists. I love the fact that I have everything together. Each book is like a time capsule of a few months
If you want to go down another rabbits hole, look for saddle stitch book binding. Those composition notebooks are super easy to make, and you can play with size and paper quality. And the covers, of course. Aaaand it's kind of addictive 😂
There is something so endearing about composition notebooks. Seaweed kisses has a video reviewing a lot of brands of composition books. Chic Sparrow and I’m sure others even have leather covers for this size (which I know defeats the purpose of being one inexpensive 😂). Can’t wait to see more next time.
I think Chic Sparrow covers are gorgeous!! I wouldn’t have thought of that!!! Okay, I think I’m going to purchase a few different notebooks and see what the differences are. I so far really like the paper from pen + gear!!
