The best thing I personally ever did to help with my recovery is getting into the knife making hobby. I live in an apartment so I buy premade ingots of Damascus or knife steel and do stock removal and have a buddy with a forge that helps me with heat treatment once I get a little better and have more money I'm going to try my hand at forging my own. Good plan on finding new hobbies and new friends that don't use best wishes on your recovery.

Nice work, looking fantastic! Why are a few of you Austrian smiths (well, you and a couple that were on the UK bladeshow channel too) running compressed air into your forges? Just for precise and consistent control or other reasons?
Because its smart ;)
It saves you a LOT of Propane and gets hotter with lower gaspressures since it got more oxygen.

Out of curiosity.... (hypothetical) Would you/ how much would you charge for a small 1x1 sliver of Damascus?? If that was a possibility.. and I know there is a good amount of cut offs so I just figured I would ask 🤷
We sell our normal damascus in our onlineshop, or do you want a offcut of this one?
why don't more smiths add a couple of tiles of mild steel to the end they plan on using for the tang? Tang doesnt need to be hard and the pattern doesnt need to be seen under the handle
I had 3 extra tiles left...but i couldnt fit more in my forge cause its not long enough 😄🤣

After the first couple forgewelds and after the mild steel is removed, why not use the rolling mill to get the thickness you want? Hammer is definitely way more badass and makes a better video but wouldn’t it be easier to get the thickness you want on the rolling mill?

But i wanted to have some straight downforce on it once again to keep the power on the welds and not "pull on it" too much :)
alsl i didnt want to stretch the pattern toooo much so the explosions are nice and clean :)

Nachdem ich nun doch das Videomaterial gesichtet habe möchte ich in diesem Augenblick mein verzücken über den derzeitigen Zustand und meine Vorfreude auf den zukünftigen Zustand zum Ausdruck bringen.

Can you tell us more about this Furry-Flip-Damascus? Is it made from slain enemys with fur? Who has to do the Flip? I can't stop laughing at the thoght, htat Chris is one flip after the other until Martin has finished forging!🤣🤣
