My mother was all Macedonian . And everyone loved it. In honor of them, my grand Daughter and I are making a Zelnik for my Son’s 55 Birthday and Father’s Day this year. I wish my Baba and my mother was still with us. I love watching your hands make the dough, just like they did. Thank you for the memories God Bless you🙏🏻
Very talented Gordana. Other than my Baba Milanka I have never seen anyone stretch dough as good as you do! Keep the videos coming. You are a pleasure to watch.❤
This reminds me of how my late mom made maznik. She could stretch that dough so thin and over a 10 seater table. People would always ask her to make it for special events. They could pin point who made it by the way it looked and in seconds it would be gone. I've tried making it twice but it's not quite like hers. I've never really been able to master the dough. But I will certainly try it again thanks for all your tips. Im excited to try it again. Thanks again for the detailed instructions. ❤
Love it 😊 just use the right flour, and be patient, for the waiting time, for the dough to rest enough before stretching. Also, take the time stretching the dough, you’ll make few circles around the table, but it’s fun. I am glad that you like my video, and good luck. Text me if you’re having any questions, any time 🥰
Hi Cordana, love you step by step instructions. I have made it for the first time and it was absolutely delicious the family really enjoyed it too. Can you please share with me what ingredients I need to do a meet one or a pumpkin filling? Thanks again for the wonderful step by step instructions. ♥️🙏🏻🌹
I have made this using filo but now you inspired me to try it your way. Your way is the way my grandmother and mother made it (when my mother got old it became too much work for her). Great video. Thank you 🙏!
Amazing..great job full of love..I learnt from my mama the same way. 2 differences..we didn't double or bash the doe.. I will be trying your way.. Thanks to the great channel, you have a lovely softness which I like. Looked delicious.🤩♥️
Hi Gordana thank you so much for sharing your recipe for the zelinik it was very enjoyable to watch. Yesterday was myI first time making it I had so much fun following your video and making it. Need to improve a bit more but the taste was definitely there. I would like to make it again but with a different feeling of maybe with meat or pumpkin do you have a recipe of those two fillings please. ♥️🙏🏻🌹
Yes! Definitely! For the meat filling, you need to fry chopped onion in vegetable oil until tender, in separate pan browned ground beef on oil , crumbled up, then mix along with the onion , add salt and black pepper for taste. For pumpkin filling,I use butternut squash, raw, I know it’s hard to peal, then cut smaller pieces and use food processor to make it almost like shredded ( you can menially shred , but is hard), Spread butter Spread shredded squash on the dough Sprinkle sugar Sprinkle lemon zest and roll If you like pumpkin pastry, watch my video
I'm making this for Father's Day dinner this Sunday and I'm currently letting the dough rest before I try to roll it half as good as you as a "practice run"! We usually only get to enjoy this once a year when we attend our local Macedonian Festival near Buffalo, NY, so I'm pretty excited to see if it comes out okay. Thank you for this video!
I'm rewatching this video because I'm gonna be making Maznik for another family event tonight! Everyone is excited because of how good I made it last time, thanks to you and your entertaining and informative video! Thanks, again, Gordana!@@gordanaskitchen4972
@@gordanaskitchen4972 Here I am, again! My wife loves this stuff so I'm making it just for fun! I'll be able to remember the recipe eventually! Thanks!
Didn't hear that pita is called maznik in Macedonia . It just plain pita. You can use meat, and that is a burek. If you use cheese, then it is called sirnica, and if you use spinach, that is zeljanica. You can make apple pita, potatoes pita etc.
@@MilenaHarbinja Inly in few places in Macedonia is known as a Maznik. Can be made with anything you want. It’s called Maznik with cheese, maznik with meat …… Burek is layered usually, and zeljanica and sirnica is not Macedonian language, at least you are coming from north of Macedonia. Let me tell you something 😃No meter how it’s called, Pita or zeljanica or maznik or sirnica, we love it so much, it’s definitely Delicious 😋😋😋
Yes! Thank you so much 😊 and all depends on how much you want to make? One pan or more? I make more, like 2-3 pans so i can freeze it. It’s a lot of work, but all of my family loves it, and when I make, I make allot So, for one pan you will need approximately 3-4 cups flour, I flatten tbsp salt, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1/2 tsp vinegar and just pinch of yeast Add water as needed, so you make nice soft dough, then follow the directions on the video It’s fun to make 😁i love it 😍 And I always make extra phyllo with apples Same process, but instead of using cheese, you shredded apples, add sugar, breadcrumbs, cinnamon, lemon zest, walnuts, roll it up, spread butter and Bake, it’s really delicious 🤤 Enjoy 😊
