- First Contact from Star Trek: First Contact
Jerry goldsmith
NOTE: Yes I have already uploaded this track but I wanted to all the tracks to be together so this is why you are seeing this again on my channel. Plus it really is a great piece. - Игры
This is really one of the greatest soundtracks of cinema, and it gets overlooked because it's Star Trek.
For sure
If it was Star Wars they'd be all over its proverbial dick.
Jerry goldsmith.
Only Michael giacchino can be brought up as a modern film composer that approaches our past greats.
Non Star Trek fan here agreeing with you.
If humans have a real first contact situation as in the film during this particular track, I hope to live to see the day. If not, this music will always inspire me to think of what it’ll be like for those who will be there to witness history.
“Live long and prosper.”🖖

"My god. They're really from another world." ~ Zefram Cochrane, April 5th, 2063
"And they're going to want to meet the man who flew that warp ship"
"I envy you...the world you're going to."
"I envy *you* taking these first steps into a new frontier."
I remember that quote to this day.
Fuck...remember when they actually used to make MOVIES...
Beautiful scene.
Makes me...😣,@@Angyali.
The dialogue is beautiful.
I also love that Picard develops this special relationship to Lily (and not Cochrane) which amplifies her pragmatic character and role in this endeavour even to a greater, much deserved extent, since she actually was the person behind all the logistics (and made it happen in the first place). Obviously, she never received any sort of the fame Cochrane did afterwards.
No big deal, nothing to see here, only the most beautiful, moving sound ever. This and STIII Search for Spock soundtrack floor me....
There are similarities between those soundtracks. They both have that mysterious aspect to them
_Captain's Log: April the Fifth, Two-thousand Sixty-Three._
_The voyage of the_ Phoenix _was a success... again. The alien ship detected the warp signature, and is on its way to_ rendezvous _with history...._
EVA_Unit_4A this deserves all the likes because who doesn’t hear Captain Picard when they read this?!
Captain, I am detecting a new star trek show called... Star Trek Picard?
@@JeanLucCaptain
That's not a show, that's a dumpster fire.
@@EVAUnit4A DON'T LET IT TOUCH YOU!
@@EVAUnit4A ALL HANDS ABANDON SHIP! REPEAT! ALL HANDS ABANDON...
3:00 That moment when Zefram Cochrane and the Vulcans encounter each other in combination with this track.. pure awesomeness.
“Live long and prosper.”🖖
“Thanks.”🤝
I like it when he shot the Vulcan in the enterprise episode
I like the Vulcans jump up all freaked out when Roy Orbison plays on the jukebox
“Live long and prosper.”🖖
“Thanks.”🤝
It's nice to know that first contact with the Vulcans comes only on the heels of World War III. It shows that even in eras more devastating than the present, humanity can still pull together and forge an enlightened world. I suppose, as Spock said in Star Trek '09, a Stallion must be broken to achieve its full potential.
Star Trek is the classic tale of Humanistic optimism, Gene Roddenberry beliebed that we could strive for a better future.
Happy first contact day everyone! 44 years to go. Someone needs to name their son Zefram Cochrane already. My wife won't let me, so come on fellow nerds, get on with it
See there, Star Trek inspires us to hope and dream of a better future, that is it greatest gift to us. Born in a time where it seemed that our nation was tearing itself apart, Star Trek showed a future where man was of one accord and not just with each other, but with a galactic government composed of 150 different alien species all joined in a single cause of advancing our knowledge and understanding of the universe and our place in it. I do believe that has prophesied a realistic future for us, especially in these dark times, she is a beacon that guides us when we get lost, she reminds us that no matter how dark things get, the sun will rise again, and every day we come one step closer to 1st contact.
The turning point. For humanity.
if i see our planet today, god i wish this point become real
This is the best track in all of the Star Trek soundtracks.

To many to pick a fav...
I've never even seen this movie but this track has me almost in tears. What an incredible score! Jerry Goldsmith was a god among men.
You should go and see it, it's one of, if not the best Star Trek movie
If you see it, you will have a reason to cry, but it will be tears of joy and hope that when we do finally meet another species, it will be a race like the Vulcans, our guides, our mentors our partners in building a real United Federation of Planets where we take our place as leaders among the galactic civilizations standing tall with dignity and respect with compassion, mercy and understanding for not just each other but for all life, where we embrace each other's differences instead of fearing that which is not familiar. That is what Star Trek is!
this scene has an almost mythical quality to it. it's already such a pivotal moment in Star Trek lore, and is such a huge first step.
I stumbled upon listening to this soundtrack again and I am about to start balling, but when the main theme kicks in at the and it makes me happy and optimistic for the future!!!
The scene at the end where this piece plays will definitely have you in tears. It expresses aspiration, hope and optimism, even after years of strife and hell. It's beautiful.
Every time I see that old Vulcan hand sign, I always think of good ol Leonard Nimoy. God rest his soul.
The day of First Contact is now 40 years away.
If I make it, I’ll be 91.
3:02 an example of Jerry Goldsmith's wonderful work as a composer. He was always great at creating such emotional and heart filling sounds of music that would easily put tears in your eyes.
Jerry goldsmith wasn't just a very talented composer, he was a legend and worked on such iconic movies and tv shows. He was basically the godfather of many other great composers, like Danny elfman, Graeme revell, Howard shore, David Newman, a dozen more.
When I heard he passed away, I played the closing goodbye theme of small soldiers and lowered my head, paying my respects and said "rest in peace Mr Goldsmith."
It's amazing because I was just thinking there are basically only two other composers of whom I know who can consistently create this kind of emotion in me, and they are Thomas Newman, and probably before him John Barry. I looked up the Newmans and it seems David is his older brother. There are few composers who prioritize the importance of the moment over being overly or instantly showy and end up creating heart rending movements with crescendos and climaxes such as this.
Jerry Goldsmith, I love so much your work! I am a HUGE fan of Star Trek. First Contact was for me, the last great movie of the saga. I hope someday, before I die, I live another moment like this in the cinema! Rest in peace!
The beginning of this piece played at the start of the TNG cast reunion announcement for Picard Season 3, and I can't think of a better piece that could've been played.
Well, it was First Contact Day, if I recall. But I’m always associated that opening 4 note motif with Picard, and I’m glad they brought it back for his last (?) outing.
It's today, happy anniversary! 😊
1701EarlGrey hey, 1701EarlGrey, are you by chance hot? Lol
3:00 *Live long...and prosper.*
Cochrane: *Reaches for shotgun*
This should be the anthem for pro-human optimists everywhere. Bring on the future!
Listening to this on First Contact Day
40 years from now I'm going to drive into Bozeman playing this song.
live long and prosper - thanks
Always brings me to tears....
Such a beautiful piece of music.
The fact the Lower Decks used this music for the Phoenix is just amazing
Happy FIRST CONTACT DAY !
Today is April 5, 2021 countdown to 2063 still 42 years off and we're getting close. Live Long and Prosper! 🖖
This music always makes me cry. It so moving and powerful and emotional in its impact.
The very best.

This music and this scene give me chills every time I watch it!
That moment when 3:02 hits... pure magic.
4:14...... such a hopeful and serene emotion
Quite so.

😱😱😱🤗
I'm thinking a soft flute and/or piano version of that part should be the Picard show theme
For me, this is the absolute best part of the album, followed by 'The Star Trek March'🖖
Happy First Contact day! 😂 Let's drink some tea, earl grey, hot and wait for Vulcans...
Most of Star Trek themes great.
sounds irish, doesn't it. love it.
*all
This soundtrack is beyond amazing and reminds me of why I love Star Trek so much.
Happy First Contact Day, everyone!
3:53 - This part makes me cry every time for some reason. 😢
Live long and prosper
Tyrese Gibson.
I love the hybridization of the Quest Theme and the TMP title march at 5:10 to ~5:40
Again, happy anniversary of First Contact !
This is more reason why I think first Contact is the best Star Trek movie and one of the best movies ever made. Wrath of Khan comes up close with it's amazing soundtrack and it's also a great movie
First Contact is easily one of the best Star Trek films, right alongside Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country
It is sacrilege to call it the "best", because of The Wrath of Khan. But, it's as good as that, and deserves more credit than it usually gets.
@@StsFiveOneLima well yeah, Wrath of Khan takes the #1 spot for sure, but First Contact is still among my favorites.
Who could dislike it? :D
I've been looking for this version for quite a while, thank you!
This marks April 5, of every year to be First Contact Day. Happy First Contact Day, everyone!
”0,68 seconds, sir. For an android, that’s nearly an eternity.”
I hope that "Star Trek Picard" theme incorporates some of this, perhaps in a quieter piano version
*Secret Hideout has entered the chat*
I wish!
Only a drop of voyager was hinted. This cover expands on it:
ruclips.net/video/G6lB8TuNiIY/видео.html
I hope they cancel that abomination, it is not Star Trek!!! It has betrayed all of the values Star Trek once held so dear! Sad that Patrick chose to destroy his legacy in Trek by doing this.
@@marcmorgan7796 Two years later I'd say Season 2 started really decent so far
Got my wish in Season 3 😊
We need the Busy Man motif back in Picard Season 3. I miss it as much as I miss the TNG theme.
THE TERRAIN EMPIRE WELCOMES YOU. HEHEHEHEHE.
Jun luc picard we have control captain me it's good to see you again captain Picard you gave the queen hell good job me it what kirk would of done Picard do you mind escorting us back to are time Czilla shure Picard
Does anyone get Jurassic park 1 ending vibes from this song (before the credits)
