    Texas fans have the same opportunity to purchase tickets to support their team. If they don’t come then that is on the fans and not because of the location of where the game is being played. My wife and I got the opportunity to watch OU play Texas A&M in the semis of the baseball World Series a couple of years ago in Omaha and man was that ball park packed with both teams fans. My point is, you have the opportunity to fill the seats with as many fans as those willing to travel. If anything, Mike should be blaming the lack of Texas fans that were not willing to make the trip to fill the seats.

    There's homefield advantage (Sooners play in Norman, NOT OKC) and there's the host city. In 1989,the NCAA along with the chair of Women's softball reached an agreement to have OKC as the host city for WCWS,,a move that generated alot of dollars but also fan interest from around the country. A city that's geographically situated perfectly, and in the past 35 years ,it has gotten some of the best reviews for hosting a national tournament championship. The Floridas,the Alabamas,,,Michigans,FSU, definitely the UCLAs and Arizona schools have thrived playing here. To suggest that Oklahoma has " an advantage "?,,a "homefield advantage? Is so grade school mentality sore loser stuff. It took OU 10 years before they won their 1st national title,"10 years,,while Ucla/Ariz were just piling up trophy after trophy,,collectively 16 times!!! Where's the "Oklahoma homefield advantage???? Nobody was crying during the Bruins/Wildcats domination!! Finally,,the players,the practice,the effort all started paying off for the Sooners,,the Gators won a back-to -back pair,,FSU,Alabama won before the freight train rolled thru winning 8 and a 4peat!!! Excellent coaching,excellent players playing at a level unheard of it seems,,,,no cheating,no sign stealing,just a bunch of girls who are so freakin awesome at playing softball,,,so before you start whining and crying about unfair advantages,,figure out how one of THE best pitching staffs gave up 16 runs in 2 games. In 22 appearances,,26 seasons,Horns have 0 National Championships in 8 WCWS,,,THATS,why you're whining and crying

      I believe there is an advantage just look at the people in the stands. It's 90% crimson but it would be like that anywhere there was a softball stadium like this. Sure, they could move it to a neutral site, but it wouldn't be a softball stadium and the atmosphere would be horrible. Just like it is at the B12 BB tournament. 40K seats with 5K people there. In order to take away the "home field" advantage pitch the ball better, hit the ball better, catch the ball better, run the bases better, coach better take the locals out of the game. I'm not 100% sure but I think everyone has the opportunity to purchase tickets.

    Texas has had more opportunities to play at Devon Park than anyone in the 2024 WCWS other than OU, so there's that. Also, the freshman was more poised and well-spoken than her coach. Respect. Lastly, OU made adjustments after losing to Texas in the regular season. Texas did not. OU hitters knew what was coming and sat on those pitches. OU pitching made adjustments that should land Rocha in the HOF. This Texas loss is on the coach.

    • @mstevens94
      @mstevens94 Месяц назад +6

      OKC put the money where its mouth is and built a 15,000-seat stadium for softball where no other city wanted to. If everyone did that, the site of the WCWS would rotate every year rather than being in OKC every year. It is not OKC's fault that Texas was woefully unprepared against Oklahoma and made mistakes that cost them a championship. It is not OKC's fault that Texas fans said Oklahoma cannot get it done against Texas when it matters most, notwithstanding, the last time Oklahoma faced Texas in this same series was two years ago, and got blown out in both games for OU to win their second straight championship and now this series where Oklahoma accomplished their four-peat. Texas ultimately deserves that indictment. Oklahoma does not need it; they have shown up and got it done twice now, against Texas and twice against Florida State.

    As an OU fan and someone who lives 15 miles from the venue, does OU have an advantage playing in OKC? Yes, of course. Much easier to make the 30 minute trek downtown that the 7 hour drive from Austin to OKC. So even if Texas fans can buy 50% of the seats, they won't use up that allocation. But is it unfair? No it is not. Not when OK taxpayers ponied up the big bucks for that stadium even before OU softball was good enough to be on the radar -nobody else in the country has a venue of that caliber. Not when at some point OU's softball resources were so limited that Patty almost quit due to her low pay in the early 2000s. Mike should focus on his girls' competitive spirit, complaining about the location unfairness is just being defeatist.

    Those softball schools who have switched from slapping a softball to hitting HOME RUNS, line drives playing sound defense great pitching vs slapping have scored more runs vs those a one run inning mindset. So if a team wants a part of the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HIT THE BALL HARD.... BOOMER SOONER!!! AWESOME YEAR!! CONGRATS!

    Ok, first of all I understand that a press conference is about questions and answers. Alot of the questions so far for the Texas team is based on the Oklahoma team and not the Texas team in my opinion. Talking about the gap between Oklahoma women's dominance and not focusing on Texas and their ability on make it to the championship. Sure Texas is young but please direct the questions on Texas not Oklahoma. Every reporter asked the same question and it is all related to Oklahoma and their dominance not one question focused on Texas and their ability to get there. Sounds to me that the reporters are biased

    As if they didn't outwork everyone else in their position to earn it
    So if his team had only ONE all-american that speaks volumes against his coaching 😉

    The talk about coach White is more deserved than not, but you have to wonder why he is the only D1 coach who flashes his school sign (Hook-em!) after then end of every interview. To me it is his way of saying that he has a weak side, and need you to like him more than he can produce.

    • @hopemcdowell56
      @hopemcdowell56 Месяц назад

      He’s not the only one. A lot of team coaches do this. Texas A&M said “Gig ‘em” after their interviews, Tim Walton said “Go gators”, the list goes on.

    Both teams are great. OU dynasty does not go without the well-deserved accolades. Texas was the #1 bc they worked hard to be the #1. OU overcome a lot of adversity this year to be the #2. Coach White is correct Texas lead the country with the highest team batting average. They also broke a lot of records. The commentators of the games let OUs amazing success overshadow other great teams successes. & as a coach he’s disappointed they did not get the recognition they also deserved and constantly being compared to OU. OU is definitely the standard but each team is unique, and deserves their OWN spotlight. It is somewhat disrespectful bc they can all shine bright without having to live up to Oklahoma. I think that’s where their responses and Coach White are coming from. Outsiders comparison.

It is approx 6 1/2 hrs from Austin. That’s an easy drive so no excuse if not enough UT fans aren’t there. Texas has a great team. I can see Florida and UT in the final next year.
