Actually turned a meme into a real modular. Haha. It sounds pretty good! The useability is a bit lacking but then it would force you to truly master the disting.
Very cool to see the Deca-Disting in practice here. While I'm not a fan of all of the menu diving, I've really wondered if it is good to have the Disting EX in my setup to essentially instead of getting modules that I would rarely need. Kind of like taking the approach, "Hmmm... I need a comparator for this patch. Ah, Disting has that!"
I've got 3 distings and what I've found is you come across a few algorithms you use A LOT so you learn those algos by heart and the menu diving isn't so bad. my 3 are usually a quantizer, a delay and a precision adder but it's nice to have them for anything else I may need that I don't have a specific module for. there's so many aglorithms it pretty much covers anything you would want or need
@@G0nz0uk I think it was effectively set to C, yes - although you don't specify an actual root note in those terms in the algorithm itself as it's kinda arbitrary, i.e. it depends entirely on how the destination VCO is tuned. There's a transpose parameter so you can use that in conjunction with the tuning of your VCO to set whatever you want the root to be.
Always something to be said for doing something simply because you can! This could probably make some wild sounds with a bit of work. I made a patch using 9 ALM MFX, but that was much cheaper when you only use software modular, haha. Chucking 16 Rings in a patch is usually worth a try too, can't see much benefit to this approach with hardware though 😂
I recall LooPop threatening to do this a while back… Anyway, not for me- though I should admit to having three Mk IVs and a single EX. That’s probably enough.
Fantastic demonstration of the Disting's capabilities - and on the tenth anniversary of the Disting mk1, no less!
Fun experiment and well done demo video! 👏😎👍
So far I only own one Disting Mk4 and one Disting EX. The family must grow! Very nice demonstration.

Great explanation of the patch.
Brilliant, I have 2, might need to grab another 8
I was kinda waiting / hoping for someone to make a video like this, thanks !
This was FUN..thank you for making this! 🍀
Great stuff! Really enjoyed that. Like you say, it's unlikely anybody would own 10 Distings, but a fun 10 minutes anyway!

Excelente. Thank You
love-love-loving this to bits!!
I did the same! 😂 But with the very first Distings ever released
yeah 10 is bit overkill ... but I have 3 distings :)
this was a fun video
This is lovely. Can I ask what notes those are for your pattern or scale please? Beautiful sound.
Thanks! It's the Pentatonic Minor scale (set in the F-6 Shift Register Random Quantised CVs algorithm)
Thanks wonderful thanks, is that with C as the root too? Assuming you can set that too.

I wouldn’t wish this system on my worst enemy haha.
Even as someone who has released 4 disting-themed albums, my response to this video is NO THANKS

... or 5 Disting EX's
It had to be Done…
it really did.
Man i couldn't even manage one disting.
This is my worst nightmare 😂
A disting is very handy to have occasionally, but personally I can't read the screen. Don't know how people read it.
For 2600 USD it would have a lot of options and potential.
