Ohh awesome i been searching for income related ETF's and whats out there,,cant wait to see more of your video's regarding these particular style ETF's ...subscribed!
You are the man. Follow you closely. Can you do a Bali after 1 year review? Big changes in the top 10 holdings and wonder if you see something good or a problem in the fund. Thinking about investing. Thx
Sure! I will take a look. Thanks for watching. FYI - Still one of my favorites in this segment that doesn't get enough love... I think people are slowly coming around!
Dave really enjoy your video's. Being long since retired my investment journey is now strictly income based. At my age long term investing is an oxymoron, love those monthly dividends for quick compounding....hope you have a Merry Christmas and look forward to you next video...
I am curious if the tax on the distributions will be different than JEPI since they are writing the calls within the ETF itself rather than obtaining the income from Equity Linked Notes. I thought if you used futures there was a better rate (split between short and long term gains) so would this tax treatment flow down to holders of the ETF? That may make it more tax favorable than JEPI if that is the case.
Thanks for putting this together. Do you happen to know if they use Equity Linked Notes like JEPI/JEPQ or if that is a factor in your assessment of these? I've heard various levels of concern on ELNs ranging from no concern to highly concerned (not sure if any of these opinions are based on true knowledge and understanding of the ELN process or if people just have opinions.) I can't say I blame them for their price points on their options given the crazy run the market has had. I do like the idea of futures to capture upside to off set as well and think this will be one to watch but had potential. Happy holidays!
No. JEPI/JEPQ are the only version I see packing these trades within the mysterious ELNs. These are straight up index options and futures. Having said that, I'm comfortable with my investment in JEPI/JEPQ and their process of using ELNs. They are using ELNs as a vehicle to pack up the options and some equity value together so that they have distributable income each month. That is my understanding.
So they sell SPX calls and buy EMini futures and still own stocks? Stocks acting as collateral for the SPX calls? Not sure how that works. Plus they dont reveal how far OTTM they are selling. Could be anything
I want to continue to watch and see how they manage their options and futures. Certainly more to this fund versus a straight CC strategy. I see it as... The sold options are for the income and the purchased futures help with big moves against those options. Which is the current scenario so a good time to watch.
@@dresh9077 It is a bit weird. Lol. Broad holdings and this income strategy bolted on. Almost feels like they put it out there to see what they might catch. Still, a curious one for me.
I would like to see a put selling based ETF so upside isn’t capped, downside would be harsh in a bear market - but would hope a good firm could manage that risk.
@@ThePolishedapple QQQY and JEPY from Defiance. The price of those funds would fall in a bear market. But what would the monthly yields look like if we were in a 6 month downtrend for example? The option premium would still be there I assume, but maybe not as much on the put side compared to our current market climate?
Egh . If any new “ high yield etf “ launches. They need to aim for 18-25$ share price with the average return of TSLY . If. It it’s a watste of money . Better to keep investing into yield max ETFs , take the yield max ETFs dividend and invest into dividend growth stocks
TSLY doesn’t even have discussion in this. It’s a one stock play. And most the time on those performances is the fact they lose stock price over the years in return for the outsized premium.
I have been following your videos with much interest and came across your, “ETF for older investors”. At 85 I just met with my broker who feels that I don’t have any fixed income. Which ETFs would you suggest for fixed income portion of my portfolio just in case the market significantly drops since I may not have the time to recover a crash?
Probably should talk to your broker about it, but ABR is a good one. MAIN is one that didn't even cut their dividend during the 2008 crash. You can also look at CSHI, which runs options on treasuries
@@momentomori1747 Thanks for your reply. Already own both MAIN and ABR. I am interested in an ETF related to fixed income and high dividends to support my current expenses.
Hi. I have a few high yield bond ETFs but they might not be right for you. I also buy some longer duration treasury bonds. Do you have a goal in mind with this chunk as far as return?
I think the interest is there so they keep coming. Plus they rake in the big bucks so works well for the small ETF players. Think about VOO which is a huge Vanguard fund at 369 billion but charges .03% versus JEPI which is at 30 billion but charges .35%... They generate about the same!
@@wealthadventurescosting their customers loads of money in both under performance and higher fees! 😂 It’s like paying someone to help you lose. If you want to pay fund managers, at least pick a fund with a long term track record of beating the market and a reasonable expectation to do the same in the future.
Hey Dave, thanks for educating us on new issues that some of us wouldn’t know about.
Welcome and Happy Holidays James!

Interesting, look forward to this one. M1 is always late to the party on these new ETFs...

Welcome! Thanks for all the support this year. Merry Christmas!
Yep I'm with you on waiting/watching. Interesting they are long the micro E-minis along with the short SPX calls.
Different approach. I'll see what I can learn!

Yes. 60/40 tax treatment on futures and index options and I don't see any reason that it would not be passed through... But I'm not a tax pro! 🤷♂
great content as always good exspense ratio on Bali not a big fan of Blackrock
Thanks! Curious that it is growing so slowly out of the gate with the Blackrock name behind it.
My question is who is on the other side of these options transactions?
Someone else at BlackRock! Lol. Or any other investor that is a buyer.
Dave will we get your winner of all the income funds you are reviewing?
Certainly! But they just keep coming so I need to cut it off soon and put them together.
@@wealthadventures It would be fun to see your top 10 favorites and why. :)
I vote for a tier list, you would be the first!
Buy BALI and move to retire in Bali
Sounds nice...

There's so many funds coming out in the covered call world.
Yup and you should invest and get few shares . Take those dividend and get dividend growth stocks
Can we get an updated video on Bali?
Sure. I am a fan of this one and have been adding shares.
I like the approach to this fund. I think I'll put an itty-bitty bit of skin in the game, maybe 20 shares.

Most people that invest individually can’t even make those returns over years ( minus buying etf ) I mean trading
