I saw this audio flying around the internet and since i got nothing better to do stares at Episode 02 nervously I threw this together. If you want to see a great SFM animation here, then you picked the wrong house fool!

Eh, Heavy could appreciate elements of communism while still hating the Soviet government for their crimes. Either that or he's just reading up on theory to better understand exactly what he's opposing-either way good for him lol
Maybe they're one of the more libertarian ones or did ordinary crimes. That's a more likely reason to get sent to a Gulag in contrast of actually loving capitalism.

Heavy's father was a Counter-Revolutionary, possibly part of the White Army, during the various revolutions against the Bolsheviks(led by Lenin) and their Red Army that ultimately gave rise to the USSR. Heavy, and his mother and sisters were imprisoned in the Gulag in 1941 only after his father was killed, who remained politically active after said revolutions. So, it can be inferred that Heavy hates the Soviet government and may actually support capitalism since he works in America for an American company to earn money for his family. The Soviet-themed cosmetics and weapons may be to just further the Cold War Russian stereotype Heavy is supposed to be.
His profession doesn't really prove anything tho. He is still a worker that kinda really work to die. He isn't like any capitalist.

I can actually imagine the "defying reality" parts are actually in their heads, like the start where soldier said heavy's name, was actually just real close to him, and the part where soldier has three arms was just him being specific about the symbol on the book, and when demo showed up to the two dancing was actually him noticing them fighting, and when he was "ascending" in the conversation, it's just how soldier saw demo's interruption.

There's also the moment when heavy said it's literature reading and he has glasses on, that's probably soldier trying to imagine heavy doing some reading, and not buying it, and the part where heavy is floating away is probably heavy slowly running out of excuses, and the part where soldier's helmet raises up, is probably how heavy imagines soldiers eyebrow raise, and the part with the monitors is probably how bad soldier sees the "situation," and when soldier found out he was on the RED team, his world went swirly because the world he knew didn't make sense, and his face changing at the end ment he thought he was a communist as well...

The part where heavy and soldier are holding signs may represent the argument in demo's head: a simplified argument about an economic structure associated with a controversial government.
Also, the crude nature of the title may represent the ridiculous nature of this argument to heavy, who in the actual Canon is opposed to communism and the USSR after being locked up in a gulag when he was younger.
Your use of the word "ascending" was incredibly appropriate, given the music playing.
The explosion at the end was just the concussion soldier felt running straight into a wooden pole

When heavy had to deal with a trick or treater, he told the kid how he had to work hard every day to feed his family and that he wouldn't give freebies to lazy children.
