I'm a therapist who uses the Muse with some of my clients in my professional practice, and I know of other therapists doing the same. I use the Muse S which is a higher level model using a fabric headband instead of the plastic headpiece. It costs a bit more but will adapt itself to the head size and shape better, and would solve the problem related to head shape mentioned in the video. It also has a sleep mode called "Digital Sleeping Pill" that the Muse 2 does not. The app is very well put together, and as Tyler said doesn't require the subscription and there is lots of value without it. However I'll say that the 500+ meditations are from some of the most famous meditation teachers in this country, and if you like guided meditations they're a bargain. I've been meditating for 50 years, so I don't need the Muse to get into meditation, but it's well-worth it in my opinion. My background is in electronics, so I understand how it works and it is well engineered. It generates real biofeedback that drops you deeper. The Muse S has a sleep mode which the Muse 2 doesn't, so if you want to improve your sleep, the Muse S would be the better buy. If you want reviews from a Navy psychiatrist who is way into the nerd stuff, look for Cody Rall on RUclips, he interviews some very cool people who have used the Muse for research and knows a LOT. He did a great interview with the brain researcher Dawson Church which is well worth listening to if you want to dive into how this is used in scientific studies. There is a mode on the app in the session review screen near the top which hides a very interesting option to display the relative amplitude of the 5 brainwaves measured by the device, beta, alpha, theta, delta, and gamma. It's called "Brainwave Power Band" and superimposes the five brainwaves on top of each other, so you can see which ones were more powerful today and also whether they were coherent (calm mind) or scattered (scattered mind), and see how that shifted towards coherent during the session. It's accurate enough to be used in publishable research studies. Personally, it drops me like a stone into a nice deep meditation in as little as 5 minutes. I'm very happy with it.
