@@AfricanSunProductions I was born march 1957 at that time Tanganyika, today as you know Tanzania. My dad worked for the government on a sisal plantation as a tractor mechanic. We lived in moshi and i went to the Arusha school. Then in 1985 i left the country for famly health reasons.
@@AfricanSunProductions Just a little bit of background of my self. I studid untill secondary school. Then i started to work with a road constructor as a mechanic tecntion. I was almost always living in the camp sites. At the age of 23 i had the opportuity to buy two rifles from a white hunter in Kenya, a mauser 300win mag & a 375 single barel H/H. The time Kenya closed down hunting. All hunters started selling their guns. I payed both guns 1,000$ with no optical site real african white hunters rifle. I must say i was very lucky indeed also for the price. I already owned a shot gun of my dad Browning auto 5. So once every 3 months i used to go hunting privately with 4 locals of the place. One of the 4 was a kenyan, a mkamba tribe he tougt me how to follow the tracks and trail of the animals. He was a poacher when lived in his village,he then came to Tanzania you can imagine why. He worked with me 7 years,i taught him my job and became an excelent mechanic. After some time when I was in Italy he wrote to me thanking me for teaching him the job,he took my place where I was working. To answer your question ,yes it took some time every thing went well thanks. I sold the shot gun but the 2 rifles i took them with me to Italy. Excus me for this short prvate history of mine. Thankyou.
Wow, that is an amazing story. Thank you for for sharing! We don't hear life stories like that anymore. Everyone seems to be following the same boring path. I hope those rifles become something your family will pass don't to following generations.
I agree! The picture paints a thousand words. I remember that morning I had to walk from my tent to the dining area, I had to get there to film what happens, I didn't have a choice. Tough walk for sure, haha!
What was that "gray ghost" at 1:07:47? Is that a Nyala? I have always wanted to hunt Africa...Oh, sorry- reading comments, it is a lesser Kudu. I don't think I could have made that shot! Very skilled.
Thank you! I have a few Elephant hunts that I'm keeping private. It's a very touchy subject, as you know. I do have permission from the hunters to post it, but for the time being still want to hold it back. They create too much negativity about hunting and that isn't what this channel is about.
@@AfricanSunProductions Unfortunately we are in the cancel culture era, where I have no doubt the social media NPC mob will rip you apart if they find this channel. And I agree not every aspect of your life needs to be posted.

@@AfricanSunProductions we by instinct are very emotional based and we grew up in a generation that’s been brought to relate to animals through movies and TV. They are the traditional Masai clothing. Keeps the sun away during daytime, and keep them warm at night. The game in the area are used to the Masai walking around so we used it as camo. Worked pretty well!

Hi Johnny. I'm not 100% sure, but Greg does discuss his guns in the first part of the movie which can be seen here: ruclips.net/video/QhKuzHpUW6o/видео.html
I was actually looking for this as well, but then I got sidetracked and ended up hearing him mention them. From around 1:15:00 (with the Wildebeest) and towards the end, he mentioned a .300 and a .375 a few times. The hunter didn't mention the exact cartridges, but I would guess they were a .300 Winchester Magnum along with a .375 Holland & Holland, as they are, if I'm not mistaken, some of the most popular calibers used in southern Africa.
I do agree those calibers are the most popular. You can hunt just about anything in Africa with that combination. I have to be honest, I'm not a gun guy although I've been filming hunts for 18 years. I can give you all the info on the camera used to film it!
Hi, and thanks for watching. Greg used a .300 and .375. More detail on the ammo is in the first part of the movie, the Selous hunt. Greg himself also check the comments every now and then, and I'm sure he'll reply with more details. ruclips.net/video/SunLJUZJ9J8/видео.html
Yes sir, we eat some of each animals, the rest goes to nearby villagers. Nothing goes to waste, even some of the intestines are used. In the Selous part of this hunt you can see some of the meat being cooked out in the bush. I'll make sure to film more of it in the future. This is the Selous part of this hunt: ruclips.net/video/QhKuzHpUW6o/видео.html
That's part of the tradition Masai clothing. It helps to keep you warm in the morning, out of the sun during the day and believe it or not, it's good camo! The animals are so used to the Masai wearing it everywhere that when a hunter wears it, you get much closer to the animals. Very interesting!
i just want to comment on how the way you suppose to take a shot, every time you prepare the stand for the gun you put in a very open position where the animals widely sees you which probably driving them away,,, next time maybe you can shot the target even when you're covered with few bushes.
Valid point, and some guys prefer this. On the other hand if you have too many bushes, you might not see them through the scope but the bullet might hit a branch of twig which will send it off target. Another advantage of being in a more open spot, is if you need to take a second shot you have space to work with. Thank you for watching and for your comment. We appreciate the support.
Haha, that does make more sense! I never get involved in that side of the hunt. All I know is that Tanzania is one of the most expensive countries in Africa.
Yes, the local Masai tribe always wears these sheets to protect them from the cold and also from the harsh sun. We used them to get closer to some of the species. It worked really well!
@@AfricanSunProductions Another thing I was thinking, how do you know there aren’t locals in the areas you go hunting ? Bullets travel a long way if you miss.
@@bannedone3ice138 Agreed, bullets go on a long way. We take extra care to make sure there aren't anyone close-by. As you've seen there are many Masai trackers travelling with us and we all keep an eye out. No accidents like this has happened, so it's safe to say the system works.

Wow, congrats on the Lesser Kudu. I was in that concession with Robin Hurt, probably 15 years ago, and also struggled with the Oryx. It's a totally different landscape up there, if I remember correctly.
@@AfricanSunProductions yes stone covered hills hard going in places ! and that mountain climb evergreen forest later with big pit falls Hmmm ! i ll never forget ! similar to my Lord Derby eland hunt with mayo oldiri 2012 with gee (guy) took a 52 1{2 eland and i bloody earned it ! !
Wow, you had some great hunts! I filmed with Gee many years ago, my first job in Cameroon rainforest. Had a blast with him. Do you know has passed away since?

As South-Africans I don't think we always appreciate how fortunate we are to live 2/3 hours drive away from this.
Very true words, we are fortunate and should use this more. Thanks for watching!
Good Job! Always fun to watch Greg on his hunts! Lots of good footage Martin!

excellent hunt one shot one kill doesn't waste any bullet ///
Thanks Richard, I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, I had fun making it. Greg is a great guy and a very good shot. Have you watched any of the other movies on my channel?
As always, a Great Video 👍🏻 just one Little thing, could you Show the entry and exit spots of the shots?? Or is that Not possible on RUclips??
I showed those shots on some videos, but then get flagged and viewers need to log in to prove they are over 18. I actually don't even film it anymore, most clients prefer the videos to have as little as possible blood, then they can show it to more friends and family.
Thanks for the comment and for watching!

It reminds me when i was living there in Tanzania, Moshi&Arush.
What make & calber is the rifle that Greg is useing.
Compliments to the video. 👍 48:23
How long ago did you live in TZ? Arusha is busy place but it seems very interesting also.
I'm not sure about Greg's rifle, he did give the info on one of his other videos. I'll try to find it. Normally he carries a .300 Winmag.

Wow, interesting history. I hope after the move everything went well for your family. Thank you for the reply!
1:01:20 Greg's coffee mug says it all. That sound would put anyone ill at ease.
I agree! The picture paints a thousand words.
I remember that morning I had to walk from my tent to the dining area, I had to get there to film what happens, I didn't have a choice. Tough walk for sure, haha!
Greg giving out sweets is such an amazing gesture.
He had bags and bags full of sweets. The kids, and adults, loved it!

What was that "gray ghost" at 1:07:47? Is that a Nyala? I have always wanted to hunt Africa...Oh, sorry- reading comments, it is a lesser Kudu. I don't think I could have made that shot! Very skilled.
Yes, the lesser Kudu. These guys dissappear like you won't believe!
Thanks for watching Christina, I appreciate your support.
Another amazing video mate. When are you guys doing an elephant hunt video?
@@MrGatsu Agreed, some things you can keep for yourself. Also agree that they can rip this channel apart, but I'm trying to keep it clean and so far it's mostly good comments coming in.
@@AfricanSunProductions we by instinct are very emotional based and we grew up in a generation that’s been brought to relate to animals through movies and TV. I’m 21 my generation is very emotional based and they never ask what’s the reason for why we hunters do this, which leads to conversation, change of ideas and could educate people about hunting.
@@MrGatsu I agree and understand completely. I have no problem in education people, or just explain to people, IF they are willing to at least listen with an open mind. Many of the guys commenting on this channel never gets shows, I just delete them.
The Top video Of Animals 🎉

That rams hunting is supper
Agreed! Most of the animals did become supper, very good.
nice one, like you dude
Thanks, much appreciated!
What is the purpose òf the shukas (I probably spelled that wrong) ? The red and black coverings.
They are the traditional Masai clothing. Keeps the sun away during daytime, and keep them warm at night. The game in the area are used to the Masai walking around so we used it as camo. Worked pretty well!
great vid

what caliber did you use
There is also a H&H .300 magnum.
What rifles and calibers are using for this hunt?
Hi, and thanks for watching. Greg used a .300 and .375. More detail on the ammo is in the first part of the movie, the Selous hunt. Greg himself also check the comments every now and then, and I'm sure he'll reply with more details.

Thank you for watching and for your comment.
Do you guys eat the game as well ? Would love to see how you cook it.
@@AfricanSunProductions Thanks I would love to see that.
What’s with the red cloth ?
That's part of the tradition Masai clothing. It helps to keep you warm in the morning, out of the sun during the day and believe it or not, it's good camo! The animals are so used to the Masai wearing it everywhere that when a hunter wears it, you get much closer to the animals. Very interesting!
Good,, 😍🤝👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great!
Thanks for watching!
i just want to comment on how the way you suppose to take a shot, every time you prepare the stand for the gun you put in a very open position where the animals widely sees you which probably driving them away,,, next time maybe you can shot the target even when you're covered with few bushes.
Um how many fails stalks are they going to have
That's hunting for you!
How much did that cost for a 21-day large gate hunt
I'm not sure about the cost, best is to email the outfitter, their details are on the video.
What is a large gate hunt?
@@AfricanSunProductions I meant to say large game hunt
Haha, that does make more sense!
I never get involved in that side of the hunt. All I know is that Tanzania is one of the most expensive countries in Africa.
Gregory is very happy
Yes, he's a cool guy!
What’s with that towel that you wrap around? Is it because the locals wear them and animals don’t scare . I’m guessing here......
Yes, the local Masai tribe always wears these sheets to protect them from the cold and also from the harsh sun. We used them to get closer to some of the species. It worked really well!
@@AfricanSunProductions I see, interesting to say the least. So the animals don’t feel danger from them.
Not as much as with a westerner walking by. They still won't let you get extremely close.
@@AfricanSunProductions
Another thing I was thinking, how do you know there aren’t locals in the areas you go hunting ? Bullets travel a long way if you miss.
@@bannedone3ice138 Agreed, bullets go on a long way. We take extra care to make sure there aren't anyone close-by. As you've seen there are many Masai trackers travelling with us and we all keep an eye out. No accidents like this has happened, so it's safe to say the system works.
You didn't mention the place names, airstrip name, etc
You can contact the outfitter directly for those.
