    This was the very first African Sun Productions video that I watched when it first came out 3 years ago. The length of the film actually does the whole "virtual safari" thing the justice it deserves. The ambience of the miombo woodlands, with its countless birds calling nonstop, and just generally looking like anything could pop up around the next corner, is truly quintessential Africa. That lion was beautiful, too.
    I must say though that Jaco doesn't seem like the friendliest chap around. Very serious and always seems annoyed whenever Greg makes a joke. I wasn't there, so I really am no authority here, but the vibe between the PH and client was quite uncomfortable.

      Good day Max! This was a good introduction to ASP. I enjoyed this hunt a lot. Good people, good animals, good area. Unfortunately RUclips decided to limit the exposure it gets, not really sure why.
      Jaco was pretty busy with other things on his mind, I can agree to that. It was Covid lockdown and his season, like all of ours, was a mess and hunters required a lot of attention. He did deliver a good hunt though, cannot fault him at all.
      Thanks again for being such a great supporter Max!

    Nothing goes to waste in Africa. Meat protein is a vital commodity in
    Africa. Hunter, guides and trackers eat some small portion of meat
    around the camp fires. The remainder is turned over to the local
    chef-tons or numerous orphanages. The hunters take the trophies . So it
    is a win/ win situation. Americans, Europeans have never been truly
    hungry, so they do not understand.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  3 года назад +2

      100% agree on all of this, and you can add the millions of $ that goes into the African economies. It is used for many different purposed and one of those is to protect the land these wild animals live on. Without their natural habitat they can't reproduce and increase in numbers. Hunting a selected few protects countless others.

How many poachers have you come across while out in the bush, parks or reserves anywhere in the world, any time of your life? Give me an honest figure.
      Game reserves and wildlife parks in Africa doesn't generate nearly enough money to even sustain themselves, only two in South Africa makes a profit after paying only running costs, not even including anti-poaching units. The rest is all subsidized by governments who are corrupt and nothing gets done.
      Have a look at Kenya. They banned hunting in the '70s and have since lost over 75% of their wildlife. If you ban hunting all over Africa then YOU are to blame for losing 75% of all African game, and 100% in a few more years.

      @@AfricanSunProductions I'm the same! Just GOT to have fun when experiencing the privilege of hunting at this level - it just sweetens all your memories!!
      Some years ago now, I went to Zambia for buff and hippo, I met my new PH (Zim based) in Lusaka. He knew nothing of me. But it so happened that when we landed at Mfuwe there was a military parade with lots of brass, soldiers and their army band all lined up and at attention (we later found this was for the President of Zambia who was 20mins behind us in a helo).
      As we ambled across the tarmac from the aircraft into arrivals, my PH scratched his head and said: "I wonder who the HELL all this is all for?" Quick as a flash I said deadpan: "Don't you know who I am?"
      Jeez! You should've seen his reaction!! His body jolted a bit, his eyes went as large as saucers and he even stepped a little way from me!! I just chuckled, said nothing, and kept on walking. The BEST bit that capped it all was, for no reason except friendliness, I just casually waved to the Bandmaster - who (no doubt feeling flushed being all donned up) SALUTED ME IN RETURN!! My PH saw this, and from THAT moment on I was MADE!!
      So for that, and the next day, whatever bullshit I cared to dribble to my PH he just lapped it all up!! I had him cold, just as long as I said everything with a straight face - which was damn hard to maintain!! In the end I had to come clean and put him out of his misery, and we both had a bloody good laugh - but not after he had belted me and called me every name under the sun!!
      That was a good few years ago now, and today we're still close friends!! 👍
      (Btw, because the President of Zambia happened to be in our area, I ended up dropping another hippo and some PG for him - at no charge to me. It was a GREAT hunt!! 😊)

    And what does wildebeest meat taste like?
    Good video

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  2 года назад +1

      HI Miguel. All the meat is used in some way or form. A delicacy in Africa is to cook the stomach lining into a stew, so even the intestines are used.
      In certain parts of Africa hunting does help to bring numbers down. It is needed with certain species like Elephant which are very destructive when over populated.
      The biggest advantage of this specific hunt is that the funds generated are used to protect the land. Without their habitat these wild animals have nowhere to go. Each year the outfitter pays hundreds of thousands of dollars to the government. This is used to keep poachers out, keep villagers out and make sure no cattle comes into the area.

      Hello, and thanks for the question. If I remember correctly he was using a .375 Sako and a 7mm WinMag. I'm a camera guy though so please don't hold me to that!

      Good question he was using a, 375 sako and 7mm wingmag, am sure you are updeted already. I wanted to know also about it, even the damage it's causing, on organ of an animal, just think the way a lion is rolling, like Jack chain. 🖐️

      @@AfricanSunProductions the 7mm is great for most plains game, but shot placement is the real key. Great filming.

    This Hunt serve's to feed someone, or to control the growing population of the killed animals? Just for curiosity, i'm a carnivour man.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  2 года назад

      Hi V1NN1E. The answer is Yes to both of those and more.
      Thanks for being a carnivore!

      Thanks for the compliment, Rudy. I work hard to make something enjoyable. I think Greg talked about his rifles in the beginning of the video, I'll have to go back and check. I know somewhere in the comments he talked about it more.
      In my future videos I have more information from the clients about their rifles, many people have asked for this info.
      Thanks again for watching!
