  • A comparison between two baritone ukuleles of similar price range and quality: My Kmise which I've had for about a year, and a Batking, my most recent purchase

I have the spruce top kmise baritone. I replaced the strings with Martin 630 Baritone strings. I like the sound. I haven't tried a Batking ukulele but I appreciate the comparison. I wish they would remove the cheap looking koi fish or whatever it is and simply put holes in the face of the instrument.

    Hi my friend.
It's great to see a lefty for a change, great comparison, but the Batking comes way out on top.
I have just turned 75,and i have only been playing the Ukulele for two years on and off.(i started playing during lockdown)
I guess in that time,i have bought and sold about 20 Ukulele's,most of which have been Tenor's,but my favourite has to be Caramel.(Batking)
I ordered the same Baritone Uke that you have in high gloss about a year ago,and it came in satin finish just like yours,so i sent it back.
Judy,at Easternsound, who are part of the Caramel/Batking group, contacted me about a month ago and asked me if i still wanted a Baritone.
She is arranging for me to have a Batking High Gloss Baritone Left-Handed Acoustic/Electric tuned to GCEA. but she has told me i will have a long wait.
I explained that i don't have bulging pockets of money, but we have agreed a price of £120.
Over the last year i developed Carpal Tunnel, which is why i have been playing on and off,but i have never let it get to me,as long as i play in moderation.
I only use four chords...C,Am,F and G.mainly due to mild athritus in my right hand, but that didn't stop me from recording over 80 songs.
I deleted them all once i got Carpal Tunnel, because i was so depressed.....but i figured what the heck, stop feeling sorry for yourself, and make some music.
Once i get my Batking,i hope to pick up where i left off.
Sorry my friend,i am digressing here, but being a Music Teacher,i'm sure you will understand?
God bless, and may you continue with good health and happiness.
    Lew. ( York,England)

Thank you Lew. Yeah I have to agree that the Batking wins this comparison. As mentioned in the video, I was going to put the Kmise up for sale in my shop, which I did and it sold almost immediately. Since then I've also bought an electric Baritone and I'm now trying to get hold of an electric tenor, But as a lefty you know how difficult it can be, and even more so here in Thailand.

I got the Bat King Baritone Ukulele two weeks ago. I'm 73 and trying to get away from the screen. I didn't know it was going to be so hard to fret this thing. I chose a Uke because of the wider neck and strings, but I'm struggling with some of the harder cords. I've made a bit of progress and am looking forward to learning a song or two in the next while. I wish I had you as my teacher, but I live in Central Canada, so that would be difficult. All the best!
