If you think Bob Hope was a "good guy" you know nothing about him. He was one of the biggest jerks in entertainment history. I knew him slightly in Rancho Mirage as a kid and he was a world class jerk.

Bob Hope was hired to do a comedy stand up show for a big 4th of July event in the 80s. The organizers wanted to approve his jokes before he delivered his act to the conservative crowd. Apparently this kind of censorship didn't sit well with the legendary Mr. Hope. He improvised a full hour and a half of non-stop sex jokes that petrified the crowd for years. I don't know any other comic who had that kind of memory, material, or talent.

I have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rare much like all the other Dick Cavett interviews

Rodney Dangerfield would completely DESTROY Bob Hope in a head to head joke telling contest.
In terms of stand up comedy, Bob Hope was not even worthy enough to tie the brilliant
Rodney Dangerfields shoelaces if they both waited backstage before they are about to go on and perform one after the other.
Bob Hope was an excellent actor, singer and dancer.
A great entertainer in his own right.
But he was simply the worst comic ever to walk into a TV studio.
The troops just wanted to escape from their problems so they laughed at anything that he did just as a way of taking their minds of war.
    Like I said,
Rodney Dangerfield would completely DESTROY Bob Hope in a head to head joke telling contest.

@phr tao. I have heard from several sources that TFG cheats at golf. Bob Hope would not have been shy about calling him on it.

Notice when Bob says it’s true sounds just like Trump when he says the same thing.
