  • The clip captures works on the Folkestone Bypass contract, awarded to Walker Construction in 1969.
    Folkestone Council commissioned us for the then contract sum of £130000.00. Equating to approximately £6 million in today’s value.
    The 18 month contract to build a new bypass from Cherry Garden Lane to the top of Blackbull road included 2 subways and a new roundabout.
    The Folkestone contract was a huge opportunity for the firm, presenting the largest works the company had ever undertaken at the time. It took a whopping 75% of the company’s resources!

    Wow you can see the creteway estate we moved there in 1970 -82.loved it up there.

    No hi-viz no flashing lights and I bet they didn't need to watch a pointless induction DVD and have an even more pointless CSCS card..good old days when you could just go straight in and crack on,
