July 2023 - Nico Mi Amigo (Border Collie Rescue Dog)

Nico passed away on July 4th, 2023 in his home alongside his owners. We decided to put him down after noticing the symptoms becoming worse. We did an at home euthanisia, and they gave Nico the most stress-free goodbye.
We noticed Nico developing a head tilt, and realized this could be due to the tumor growing causing him to be nauseous. His drooling picked backup and there was blood in the drool around 80% of the time.
On Nico's last days, he got visits from all his dog friends. The night before his last day we took him to his favorite field, and he got a chance to say goodbye to his girlfriend one last time. Our friends surprised us with a big gathering for Nico, where a ton of his dog buddies came and even the local dog store employees came as well.
Nico's last few days consisted of him eating a ton of ice cream, cheese, and steak. It was nice to see him motivated to eat again.
His passing came too soon and him being gone has left a hole in our hearts.
These past few years with Nico are irreplaceable and there will never been another pup like my boy.
Thanks for everything Nico, you were the best dog and I wish you could have stayed with us forever.
