This is quite an admirable ethical choice to make as a RUclipsr. Regrettably I cannot afford to continue to your channel at this time, so instead I'm liking/subscribing, and commenting to boost your numbers. This is a terrific video which was brought to me via my Recommended feed, and I fully intend to to a deep dive on your work past and future. Thanks for being cool.
Usually the reason guitarists tune right before is that it can get out of tune as you play it (if you practiced before the start) or even with things like temperature (if lights are shining on it it'll heat up). And then there's just the obsessive perfectionism of wanting to make sure it's just right
@@jareddesai8467 yes, all true, what I meant is, imo, the guitarist should tune right before walking on stage, not in front of the audience. Also, if it’s going out of tune that easily, might be time to save up for a better guitar. 😊 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I’m guilty of tuning my guitar between each song, for multiple reasons. Many songs don’t use standard tunings, a lot of songs you need to tune to drop D, or half step down, or open tunings. But the biggest reason is that guitar strings are tiny strands of flexible metal, so they naturally stretch out as you play your guitar, and they get loose and out of tune. Nothing worse than playing the wrong notes, it can ruin the song. Some skilled players can even tune their guitar while in the middle of playing a song live. That skill requires a well trained ear for sure.
Guitar player of 20 years here. Found this very entertaining since I’d consider myself an “expert.” Watching you navigate all the intricacies (very accurately btw!) was a lot of fun. Only “note” I noticed is fretboards generally fall into two camps these days, rosewood and maple. Both have their own characteristics. Another deeper dive you could’ve taken is on PIckups. How they work, the different types, and all those characteristics could make a video in itself. Anyways, good stuff!
I started guitar pretty much a year ago, I finally had the time, the income, and the inclination to really dig in and learn to play, especially with all the online resources you can use to learn. But the one thing no one tells you is just how often you'll be tuning your guitar. There's a bunch of different variables that will affect tuning and tuning stability, from the guitar neck angle to the bridge type to whether the guitar has a trem to the tuning peg type to the temperature and humidity to the tuning machines ratios and on and on. Plus you quicky learn that a lot of songs use alternate tunings, which is a convenient excuse to buy more guitars 😃. I have at least 4 guitars parked in different tunings, you know, for convenience 😂. Excellent video, really enjoyed your approach!
Most ebony boards are dyed in order to make the black uniform. Some companies have moved away from it completely. I’ve got a few guitars with undyed ebony boards and they look amazing. Pale moon is an especially beautiful wood.

The reason guitarists are always turning their guitars are because they could be trying to get into a different tuning, or because the weather can have a big effect on guitars and just a final second test to make sure ur in perfect tune
I believe the "extra switch" on the guitar with the tone and volume controls is either a Master Volume Control or a blender knob (for blending the sound of both pickups).
