I had travelled when the Kochi and fort Cochin during 2016,very nice city.The ferry cost was 4 rupees.Wellington Island.is also a good place.Also spice market is a must visit.The only complaint these guys have so much in a city the entire time you feel I missed something.Must visit,sorry repeat visit 😊

Fort kochi beach was one of the best beaches. Due to regular dredging for ship movement beach eroded, now there is almost no beach, consequences of development.... Chinese fishing nets where introduced more than 700 yrs ago. It is still used in fishing. There are operated at certain times when the fish comes to the shore. Fishermen know at what hour of day fish comes near the shore. Kochi is the real name, cochin was put by British when they ruled here. Some years after independence it was renamed Kochi. The name has nothing to do with china.
The name was given by Chinese merchants. "Ko Chin" means 'like China'. Kochi was one of the destinations of Ming dynasty ships. Read more history about Kochi and China.
