Thanks for the free ride!! For reasons not given, I haven't flown since my solo at 14 hrs. That was back in the early 80's when I was starting my family. I remembered all of the pre-flight checks except I had never heard of CIGAR. Still learning.
Oh it wasn't free, you've paid with your time :) I'm glad you enjoyed it Donnie, the whole starting a family bit threw a pretty good wrench into my flying path for a while as well. Somehow was able to get through that and now onward!
Thanks brother for bringing us along. I'll have to bring you along on my ride of the gelding I'm starting. His name is Rooster. He's doing really well. That was fun going flying with you. When I get ready to ride a horse I do what I call a pre-flight check as well, but the purpose for me is so I'm not launched, lol.
That brings back good memory's from growing up around Cessna's and Pipers at my dad's flight school. I really wish I'd gotten my ticket when I had the chance. Thanks for the ride. 😎
A Happy& Prosperous New Year to You& Yours Zack. Thanks for Being You, for Being There for Family, Friends& Peers. ‘Hope You still have& Ride your Bike, Spring seems so far away N of the 49th. Have a good One Today& Always, more Power to You!
May have the ability to purchase a Franklin 220HP powered Stinson in the near future. They seem like an engine that most actual owners love and the bad rep about parts availability isn't true anymore. Do you mind sharing your opinion and experience on the matter? Thanks, Christian
I know I will try, but if u are interested, look up "blue Pacific air group" on RUclips and u should find a video about a restoration of an A26 invader. The video is 5 or so years old but that is what is consuming my free time. I'm not in the video but it's quite a project. If u watch it I would be interested in your thoughts
WOW what a peach of an airplane to have been spared combat service as well as having not gone into service putting out fires. It's quite the monumental project you guys have got there but it's great to hear that it's continually plugging along. I'd love to come visit the next time I get into Provo. Not sure when that'll be but I'll look you up when I do!! Cheers
Nothing as smooth as a Stinson. Great old planes. Seems to me the 108's issued out with 150's in them. That's a big engine. My 180 had a 235. Good flying, Lee
Thanks Lee, she is a sweet flying ship. This one did have a 150 in it from the factory. At some point rather than overhauling the 150 they opted for the upgrade. Makes a real performer out of it.
You know, I've had some difficulty figuring out where to string a hammock in this thing. Although you're hammock isn't a big lol, might be easier for you :)
I just lost my Stinson in a wind storm. 70 mph gust took it over a couple times. That being said if you are interested in selling, I'm in the market for a super Stinson! Olease let me know if you're interested in selling.
I helped a friend of mine on his 108-3 was 150 went to 165 Franklin then a friend of his crashed it now his new old plane is 108-3 with a IO 470 in it.
I see you have small bush tires on the Stinson, gonna put a runway in at the shed? How's that removeable camper project coming? I haven't started mine yet.
Why not do some corrosion control, cleaning, and re-chroming? Also, a clean airplane makes for a better preflight. Cracks show up much better on a clean tube or spar than a dirty one. Rusty TW steering springs break much more often. Etc.
Lol no, no I didn’t. I looked it over closely checking for the kind of critters that hide out in shag carpet lol. Believe it or not that’s actually something that closely resembles black terry cloth that’s faded to it’s current hue. One of the things on the list to do something different with.
Great stuff cheers Zack really interesting. Do you follow TheMissendenFlyer on YT ? He’s a flyer that also does loads of motorcycle reviews and info , or it could be the other way round . Cheers from the Brits 👍
I want a b17 bomber remember all those USA military planes landed on ice as ran out of fuel.American dug one plane out with world heating up i wonder if a bit closer to surface.Ice moves so they will have moved from last position.
I got a kick out of you when you dropped into pilot-announcer-voice at about 16:43. Channeling Steveo1Kinevo there. Throw in some vocal fry and you're ready for CRJ's.
Hey thanks for the ride along... I'm trying to remember when was the last time I was in a 108 I think it was 75... Dad liked the 108 over the Cessna 170 and 172. His pride and joy was a Piper Tri-Pacer converted to a Pacer. Me I liked the Piper Tri-Pacer and Pacer... I'm working on a homebuilt for off airport use.
Hey Kriss, thanks for coming along! I also enjoy the flying milkstool and it's tailwheel sibling. It's a lot of bang for the buck, the whole door setup always struck me as odd though.
Dad had the Seaplane door put in his... People laugh at the Tri-Pacer but it's faster in the air at the same cruise power, will carry more, and get off shorter than a like powered 172. And as you said a lot of bang for the buck! Dad cruised his at about 90 on under 5 gph... There are many things you can do to them to clean them up and make them faster. One guy cleaned his 135 hp up and was getting the same Vc as the guys were with the 180hp engines.
The ABC's of flying a Stinson... makes it look easy. Right on!
Thank you Zack for the trip around the block. Nice looking plane.
Thanks Scruffy, I’m pretty fond of her.
Love the sound of that six.
Beautiful, wonderful, great sounding Stinson !!!
Love that Franklin !!!
A pleasure to be in your good company … nice AC and enjoyed your familiarity …

You had me at "want to go flying"!
That's funny, I never thought of pre-flighting a horse but it makes good sense.
That brings back good memory's from growing up around Cessna's and Pipers at my dad's flight school. I really wish I'd gotten my ticket when I had the chance. Thanks for the ride. 😎
Thanks for coming along Michael!
Where's my best bet to find a 220hp Stinson? So far I've only seen 165s. Thanks!

Love that 220 Franklin I used to have a 108-2 with 165 Franklin wish I had it back lol

Also great video!!! Really appreciate the walk around and pre flight as well 🙂

Yes you do Bob, get out there and get some wind beneath your wings!

Beautiful 220! I assume you have replaced those checked tires by now though.

Ya, I'll bet it does. Need a constant speed prop now.
Just inherited an old piper or something like that. Just watched your video and am considering taking her up for a spin. Great video.
I hope the fuck that you actual know what AC that you own…. live by knowledge.
Thanks for the ride! Excellent.
Why thank you! Thank you for coming with.

Devil knot, it will hold the devil down!
Nice flying Zack, plenty of room to string my hammock up.

Very cool Zack Thanks for the Ride along
It was my pleasure! Thanks for watching
I’m thinking of buying a 170b with a 220 Franklin but am worried about parts availability. How has it been owning a Franklin?
Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year Zack!
I sure do miss flying. There is nothing better in the world to do. I no longer have my medical.

Man that motor sounds mean. Love it. Do you have issues getting people to work on it?
My 47' 108-3 is so clean inside and out you can eat off of it. Just wish it would cruise at 160 . Oh well.........
Well done Captain.
Thanks Steve!

hardly bush tires...
I want to hear the story about that plane.
Time for the Stinson and the Mooney to head to the Bahamas.
Very interesting, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Awesome! ⭐️
Thank you very much. It was fun to do.
Santa Paula, ever come to fox field?
run up with wind at your back?
Greetings from 2020. Hope you’re out social distancing some place.

When are you going to fly a paramotor?
The tires on this plane are cracked and very dangerous!
You forgot to preflight the carpet on the windscreen.
Lol no, no I didn’t. I looked it over closely checking for the kind of critters that hide out in shag carpet lol. Believe it or not that’s actually something that closely resembles black terry cloth that’s faded to it’s current hue. One of the things on the list to do something different with.
