And this is exactly why now I only practice at 60bpm everything I know so far for a loong while and see what the effects are. Just accuracy and precision at 60bpm. It's tough as well, but I'm excited for my little experiment.

After 1 year of playing I still find myself hitting wrong strings when I play. How can I get out of this?

As a beginner, it is important to take it slow and relaxed. Work on accuracy at a tempo that you can be precise with and practice as I said slow and relaxed to begin with. Speed will come in time with practice.
