Like you, I initially thought there wasn’t much to this flake. Upon revisit from being jarred up for a month, I was thoroughly surprised. It’s been in my top 5 for years.
While at a pipe show last year the guy next to me was smoking Capstan Blue and the room note was really nice. I bought two tins and smoked one of them over the next couple weeks. I liked the flavor but the tongue bite was too much for me. The second tin has sat for a year now and I will try it after the holidays. Thanks for sharing. God bless Jim
Beans ‼️ 😎 I hope you enjoy your vacation brother 👍 good review I always appreciate reviews greatly..they do help me out...I don't think you have ever made a pipe that I didn't like that one counts well done
Pretty much my first thoughts with this too. I got it because it was a favorite of Tolkien, but my American tastes are too set on aromatics to really appreciate the Capstan. It's just too mild. I suppose if i smoked all day, it would be a different story, but smoking a bowl is just too much of an event for me to have something so subtle.
Greetings from New Zealand 😁 Absolutely spot on with Capstan. Nothing special at all. Also I picked up on an unpleasant note while smoking that was a real turn off...and checking the pipe afterwards, it really reeked of ammonia. Yuk... Has anyone else noticed that? Anyway - really enjoying your reviews!
You gotta drink British style tea with milk and sugar with British style Navy Flakes. They were made to go together. Coffee doesn’t work with Virginia in my opinion. Burley yes but not bright Virginia
I’ll have to check it out sometime I like strong black coffee with almost any type of tobacco and if I’m not having a bourbon with a good cigar I like root beer with it
@@beans316 Or any black tea. The British heavy black teas are blended to include milk but something like a Darjeeling is more delicate and doesn't need it. There are good Chinese black teas like Keemun, and Lapsang Souchong which is smoked over pine wood kinda like Latakia. They don't need milk either. I drink black coffee every morning but just never liked anything but Burley with it, but that's just me of course haha
Lou G Agree 100% not fair to make my final thoughts yet , what I meant was OGS was more spicer the Capstan Blue was very mild with just some grassy citrus notes
Waiting for my plumb pudding to come in. Having a hard time with these flakes. Rubbing them out still leaves chunks for me. Don’t smoke real good. Any tricks to flakes?
mrairborneranger87 Yes if your new to this our community on here is called “YTPC” U Tube Pipe Community anyway there is another great member who made a vid awhile back his name is Ericsrandomworld he made a great Flake video look him up and scroll down his vids
Man, i like watching your channel, but please, don't get me wrong, when you make that "funny"voice you scare me off...Capstan is an all time classic, Ok! not so much going on as a first read, but really an honest tobacco in my opinion when you have the time to contemplate...Best wishes for a happy new year!
Beernurse Lol yeah I have made that funny voice for years try to break up the normal boring once in awhile. For me the Capstan is just eeeeh not great not bad but definitely a all day smoke
I think that voice is hilarious!!!! Reminds me when I was a contractor working one night me and my partner were guarding military helicopters that were a an Air show and I had just bought a police interceptor from one of the guys and I was showing my partner the car and he looked underneath and it was completely wet with oil!!! And he kept saying "It's all wet!!! You got screwed!! Its wet it's wet"!! And he was doing it it that same voice that beans does!!! He was doing it all night long in that voice!!! LOL

Excellent review Beans. Thanks a lot my friend. Have a great week-end. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
Hope you will let it stand for a while & let it dry some, think it will make a big difference! It did for me!
jerryspipe Yes it’s really not bad just not much flavor for me but I’m definitely going to give it another chance 👍

It definitely gets better with age but it is certainly on the mild side, I like the blue more than the yellow
The Yellow is very good with age and similar to OGS.
Happy Smokes, brother! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!! lol
Oh man a review I wanted to see new subscriber here thanks for doing this review

I'm fairly new to your channel so apologize if you've mentioned this before, but what do you do for work?
I work for the Dept of Highways
I agree. This blend has never done it for me. Simple and singular in tastes....cheers!
The Pipe Professor Merry Christmas bro , yes it’s not bad just not a lot going on for me

Richard Holmes Thanks my friend yes agree it’s just ok for me a little bland but with some age that may change
Knew exactly what you were saying when you said it tasted like Orlik Golden flake. I have a blue coming. I think I’ll let it age.
mrairborneranger87 Are you new at smoking pipes or a veteran ? Just subbed you seen your Alaskan adventure very cool
beans316 new guy at smoking. Alaska was a blast.

A bit spicier than Orlik GS. Give it a few days to settle down and some air time before you make up your mind.
