Hey mate!
I'm a new sub, stumbled across this video today and absolutely loved it.
I'm a soundscape type of person, but this video gave me a lot of tools to move towards trance/techno which I absolutely love listening to.
Thank you for sharing your workflow, and helping me simplify my jams!
Welcome aboard! I'm happy to see that it works out for ya!!!
I have learned so much from you in this video! Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge! Life-changing! ❤
You are so welcome!
It's funny that I stumble on your video, because my style in music is evolving into a more minimal focused style. Arpeggios is what makes the foundation most of the time.
Thank you for inspiring me and making me feel sure I am on the right track!
Glad it’s helping. It’s the foundation on which a lot of great music is built so it was logic to apply it to our style of music
Love this! Thanks for sharing your perspectives and approaches.
And thank you for watching! ❤
really enjoyed this video! great track, great energy, great insights. wonderful
Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it!
Love this man! Fun and informative run through of your workflow, applicable to both hardware and software setups nice one! 🔥🔥🔊🔊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the Analog workflow. Every step - every device, synth and effect - feels intentional. The orchestral analogy is spot on - an electronic conductor painting soundscapes with his sequenced hats and modular synth lines. Really reminds me what it means to play Techno, not just hit the play button.
In it for the right reason make the music sooo much better!
RUclips randomly recommended this video in my feed.
I’m glad they did, this is amazing!
Looking forward to watch your back catalogue of videos!
Subbed!
Welcome on board!
thks for this crazy one amazing as usual!!!!
Glad you enjoy it!
First time seeing your stuff. SMART. Thanks man. Love your approach and personality. Best to you!
Thanks and welcome
I just stumbled here. What a great vid. And takes me back to Lost nights in London in the late 90s. Jeff Mills. Derek May. Bit of Carl Cox. Oh those were the days. Today I mess around with my MPC and synths and try to recapture the vibe of those decades ago.
You’ve got a lovely manner too. Charming. Really digging this.
Glad you stumbled out here Ben. I’m also from that 90s era. Basic Channel, FNAC, Jeff Mills, Carl Craig etc
Love your vibe man. You got a really cool channel here. Subbed!
Welcome aboard!
Great video! Love your voice, it sounds so unique!
Thank you!
I’m glad i got to see you work I don’t have this much equipment or knowledge but that is so cool you would give us some real talk
Thanks for digging it! And for watching!
Super fun video and really helpful too. Cheers
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching my videos!
Subed, great workshop! Going to make a track following this flow
Let it know once you’ve done so?
Good stuff!
Awesome man!
Thank you!
Great video.
Thanks for the visit Matthew.
First time watcher, excellent video 😃👍instant new subscriber. Amazing work!
Thanks and welcome
Great insight!
Gratitude & Appreciation🎶💯
Thanks for listening
Just discovered your channel! Good stuff, love the set up.
Awesome, thank you! Welcome aboard!
Wow! The energy ⚡️you transport is incredible!
Thanks!
Sick vid, sick tune ❤
glad you dig it Micky! Stay tuned!
this is exciting content using hardware thank you for sharing
And you for watching!
Great idea. Something I had never thought of.
Glad you like it! Try it out and see it work for you!
This one is good advice in general for many styles of music. Arpeggios are such a crowd pleasing element that allows both familiarity by the listener and the subversion of expectations.
I love using arpeggios occassionally on guitar, mixed in with many other techniques.
And they’re versatile too. Especially if you embed call and response with different synths to play an arpeggio. Powerful stuff
@@AnalogKitchen What is that other term that is sort of a call/response, yet often with chords or repeated transposed patterns?
Ostinato?
I love that in music.
very good stuff!
Why thank you sir!
Love finishing dinner and relaxing in front of an episode of Analog Kitchen !
That sounds like fun there! Enjoy!
Wooooow, what cool sounds, love it ;)
Thanks!
Amazing stuff
Thank you!
Really cool tip.
Thanks!!
I just find out about you and your channel! Love from France! I like your way, the way you feel, the way you describe music production... I have to watch all your videos! I 've got a hardware setup, practicing everyday, but I' m always looking for advises to not be repetitive... Thanks for this, and thank you so much for sharing you knowledge with us!!
Thank you so much!! And stay tuned for many more vids. Glad you like them!
Thank you maestro💯😎🙏❤🔥
No problemo! Glad you like it!
Nice setup. subbed
Thanks for the sub! And welcome !
Excellent tutorial. 😁
Thank you!!
you rocks ! :) nice track creation
Thank you!
Great to see you using the M8, glad it is in good hands now 😊
I love it and it works out wickedly! Did you notice it having startup issues? Mine resets itself
@@AnalogKitchen Oh! bummer. No, not really. I did notice that the device could "stutter" a bit when I got impatient and pressed buttons too quickly, but no restarts/startup issues. But then again, I only used it for a couple of hours before you took it of my hands. I would reach out to Dirtywave. The developer is a very nice guy.
Arps are indeed really cool, also if they are in a different time signature
BTW Just bought a second Midi Fighter. I love how you can also send MIDI cc values to it. Even made a video about it together with the Octatrack
I’m checking that out! Thanks for watching!
Good stuff ❤
Thanks for watching!

@@vjreimedia a well, no one’s perfect. And just don’t watch if it bugs you that much
@@vjreimedia and yet you keep watching…
@@AnalogKitchen just friendly advice pal jeez. He’s trying to help u out
@@joecordingley654 not really. He dropped and deleted a rather unpleasant comment hence my reaction.
M8! Man, I’ve watched your videos with great interest for quite some time now (close to one year maybe?), but just an hour ago realized the Quadrophonia via music xpress! Legend! So, Patreon->Discord->carousel is a no-brainer for me, I’m def going to hop on board with my M8! 🙃
Welcome aboard! I'll see you in there!
Great video! A thought: consider playing with the filter keyboard tracking on that Sub37 if you want to reduce (or, depending on the synth, raise) the brightness of the higher notes in the arp.
That's a great idea! I'm on that!
@@AnalogKitchen :) that’s my move on the Jupiter-6
This vibe go Haaaaaaaard. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ow yes!
Yeah! Got my mate the M8! Such a powerful little machine.
❤ I’m loving what I’ve seen so far 🎉
@@AnalogKitchen you know I've been a fan of Quadrophonia since I heard the album in early 92 . Los Angeles radio station Mars FM103.1 would play it in rotation. I started listening p it again daily since Jan. Gosh it's soo good. Somehow I'm stuck in the 89 to 92 Rave music like Quadrophonia, 808 State, The Shamen, Moby. Btw I step sequence instead or arpeggio.
I've seen some impressive demos. I use Renoise since 2010.
Niose one!
I forgot how some of my early jams were centered around a bass arp and they're still the tracks I remember best. (Obviously there's no rules in music but a good bassline is what makes people want more.) My two most favorite Praga Khan songs are also centered on bass arps. (Luv u still and Breakfast in Vegas)
OmG. Praga Kahn. Those were some days. Injected is still my fav from them because of that relentless rave feel. Thanks for commenting
Yet another great vid. Coincidence, the track I’m currently working on was inspired by a bass arp. Love arpeggios, love your work! Many thanks.
🎉 good on you! Thanks for watching. Bass for life!!!
Very interesting
Glad you think so!
i like this dudes energy
The ADD helps...
Nice stuff! your improv really sounded like Steve Rachmad and Stephan Bodzin had a baby LOVE THAT!
Wow, thanks! Both artists I know well and respect to the max so thanks for this com(ple)ment!
@@AnalogKitchenNo problem, that's awesome, keep it up mate :)
Loving your Vibe
Thanks 🙏🏾!
Nice!!! 👏
Thank you Pluto
Absolutely!! 🔥🔥
Listening to this on a big sound system and the bass is nice and deep. It's important to know how it's going to sound in the clubs so i have 2x double 18" on 12k of amps. a pair of W8C's over those at home.
Nice one! That’s a system right there!
subscribed!
Welcome 🙏🏾
Great ❤
Thanks 🙏🏾
My kind of bredda. SUBBED
Welcome aboard! Thanks for subbin!
Great video. For those producers who dont really use gear and/or are more DAW based, I suggest Cthulhu by Xfer. Most hardware doesnt give you much in the way of controlling an arp pattern and are "generally" limited. For $40, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Thanks for the tips!
Lovely kick sound ,a.r.p is good for trance Electro ,I did a good one with saw and flanger
Oooh. I can imagine that working indeed. Did you speed up the flanger or was it slow psychedelic style. I remember having an awesome one in a RSP550 back in the days. Smoked a bit then too. Did a stereo flange on 808 closed and found myself spaced out on the floor
@@AnalogKitchen It was only the other night ,a bit psych trance as thats what i like making most as well as bass line organ house .But flanger does do it justice or chorus.135 bpm .I record them as a demo on my lg smart phone .I need to master and rec from my rc 505 looper onto my dad s pc .cheers for replying
“I’ve found that the best way to do it is simple layers”. Meanwhile, patching together 37 different pieces of hardware 😂
More if I had more room? But 37 is a nice number
You’re the best, thank you for these free masterclasses 🙏🏽 . Why don’t you ever use your mpc one? the buttons are the shit
Mainly because of the outputs. 1+2 stereo, 3+4 go to the Acid Box III and 6 is my Kick. More pump that way! And I’m used to my oldschool MPC 😂. Thanks for watching
Nice Luus!
Hey Bro! Hoe ga je??
Thanks for this approach l think l will try this with my toraiz squid what l like about the squid is it has a few different running directions.
Have fun! I love that running thing. The Makenoise Rene does the same thing!
Rad!
😎
Sound advice!
😎 🙏🏾
This is cooking I love.
Diner is served
I am using VCVRack to generate arps. The m8 in my setup sits where you are using the MPC. It's the brains. For now, it's samples and midi. It has some really good synths built in, though. I'm excited to see how you integrate it into your hybrid system, as we're kind of using similar setups. The crashing is weird for sure. Trash80 will get you sorted, though. You may just need to flash the firmware again, which is a simple process.
Smashed that like button, as always. I'm going to get on your patreon one of these days.
Back to Arps. I don't use the built in arp function in the m8, even though I could. There's a large learning curve. It's not like the analog synths. You can't record (To my knowledge) polyphonic midi. So I'm converting root notes into chords with the j-6, sending that midi to VCV, and routing it to my synth, the MC-101. VCV lets me split the polyphonic signal into 4 monophonic midi signals, and I use a eurorack style switch to arp the chord. I get good results with this, but you can use the midi instrument to program arps directly from the m8 as well.
Keep up the work, and don't lose patience with the m8. You will find a niche for the m8 in your setup for sure, and I'm sure you're going to love the FM Synth engine once you get into it. We're also getting new modulation routing with the next update that's going to take the m8 to the next level.
I’m gonna have to check that out. Looks like you’re on a similar path indeed! Thanks for your insights!
Bass Station 2 has a pretty sick easy to program arp
I keep hearing dope things about that machine!
Thanks for the mention Lucien!Actually I’m not new:) was Patreon already :) had to cut my subscription for a bit but i’m back :)
Well, in those famous Jerry Stringer words! WELCOME BACK ❤
Great video. Heads up, you can mirror the m8 display on a computer for easy screen recording
Yes will do that in the future
You have the baddest, bassy-est, stank face inducing intro on RUclips. Instant like and subscribe!

Thanks bro! Stank face is where it’s at!
A man after my own heart - lotsa Moogs.

INSPIRING :-D
❤ I’m glad that it is!
inspirational as always
I appreciate that! Thanks!
Ok, thanks for the idea. The next time i am stuck (writers block) I will use this method.
Did it work? Let me know!
Perhaps u can make something about rolling baselines. Perhaps with some pitch bend. I love those pumping baselines
That might be a great one! There will be a new addition coming soon of which I can’t say what it is. But this topic could be right for that situation
NIce video! Where might one find diode clipping cables?
I got mine from Kink and his friend Konstantin. They’ve made one for me
first dude ive seen in a while with mayyyybe more records than me lol
Vinyl forever!
Can you go into more detail on that voicey pad ? Amazing
I'll do a sound design video on the Minilogue XD soon!
Thanks for the inspo! Is the sub37 using the internal arpeggiator or are you using a different device?
I’ve made the arp using the the note repeat/chord mode on the mpc
More details on the diode clipping cable please.
There aren’t. This cable has been custom made for me. However, there are a lot of diode circuits online so you’d have to experiment with making one. Zener, Germanium etc. Loads of options
Audio tip, your voice is hard to hear with the background music. I would turn the music down a bit, or use a beter quality mic and boost the voice volume.
Thanks. Yes I’m aware of it.
@@AnalogKitchen you just need a lapel mic or something like that
I have one. Honestly was pressed for time so didn’t check the background music thoroughly enough. Which I should know to do better as I’m a mixing engineer as well
just turn captions on no problem. great video
We know he loves to blast the music 😉🤣
Synth lover from Meppel says hi! 👍
Hi Bert, thanks for watching. Groetjes uit Dordrecht!
Hey man! Those diode clipper cables are hard to find. Did you get them custom made? More info would be awsome and most appreciated. Thank you!
They were custom built for me. That's why you can't find them. And the person that made them for me didn't say what diode he used. My guess is germanium.. But can be zehner too...
heres a q i want to know. Where is the best resource for quality samples which you are using in this setup in the bb? esp arps etc
Hi William, I make um myself and then export! You could find more of my sounds here: www.analogcourses.com/collections/sample-packs
Hey Dude, your Videos are really cool. I would though recommend you to put a compressor on your voice as you speak with lots of dynamics. Some words get lost on their way. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip! Done! Check tomorrow night's vid!
@@AnalogKitchen you're welcome. I will. 🙂
Where did that Diode Clipper cable come from? Did you make it. If so, how??
Kink and Konstantin gave it to me. It's a much sought after thing that I can't and won't divulge... x
sounds like classic house music from the 80's
Wow. Thanks 🙏🏾
I love bass. Best tasting fresh water fish!
You got that right!
15 mins in to your incredibly complex setup you keep saying your keeping simple and , as I beginner, you still haven’t told me why I should use Bass Arpeggios which I thought was the point of the videos. The one thing I did learn is about a cable with a diode in which you can’t buy as I went through comment but you didn’t answer the basic question you posed there either. Enjoyed the music though anyway …I did learn it will be fun to connect up my drum machine to my synth. Thanks
We all started somewhere. Try out what I’ve shown ya. And you’ll see what happens. Thanks for watching.
what is the little device right of 101music blackbox?
That would be a Dirtywave M8 Tracker
You’re blowing up your sub frequencies.
What a great name you have! Not on my end though? For some my voice sounds gone. Are listening on decent speakers? I’m looking into it too
@@AnalogKitchen in this case, I was. :) check like sub ~60 hz, 40 or so especially.
I wanted to hear what you had to say, but the boom in the kick is so loud, it just completely drowns you out. :)
@@JonValtandtheEvilRobots I’ll check it on my next vid. Turn the music down more. But me loves the punch
@@AnalogKitchen I hear ya. It was less about punch (higher freq) and more about the boom (lower). You mentioned something about something blowing up the mixer I thought, and I was like oh crap, he may not realize he’s filling the mixer channel with a ton of low end that he probably can’t hear.
Thhhhhhaaaaaaaannnnnnnnkkkkkkkkkkssssssssss :)

@@AnalogKitchen merci :) i would love to participate in that circly idea music project/game you mentioned. would love to exchange ideas and jam.
when producers clearly aren't engineers... your background music is completely blowing you out
Great to see some music kit being put to work and not just ableton + pluginzzzzzzzz.....
Thanks! Not the easiest route but the most fun imho!
When's your mixer coming out?
We’re getting close to proto now! Stay tuned!
How Stella got her groove back (by using bass arpeggios) 😁
She be dancin
What's a Sub27? A Moog where 10 of the keys don't work ;-)
I hope you’re still within your warranty period
@@AnalogKitchen haha, no it was your section label in the video!
Wich is the name of that mixer please? I cannot hear properly (I'm italian 🙂)
The one I’m using now is the Midas DM12 mixer. The one that’s coming is my own brand the AK AM1
@@AnalogKitchen thx so much!
This may get lost in the comments but what’s one piece of this music puzzle that you wish you had got sooner? Great work man and great tips!
Well, interesting question. I think I’ve learned to not take myself and this industry too seriously. Don’t get me wrong. It is pro level bizznizz 100%. But at some point I forgot to just make fun and enjoy it
@Analog Kitchen thank you for the reply! I just found your channel and will be watching intently. Greats stuff, I love DAWless work
Find the chase. Cut to it. Sheesh
