Thanks very helpful. I'm in far west Washington state in Port Orchard. I grow indoors under lights and a 6' very sunny window. Very interesting discussion. Thanks
Very good presentation. You are very honest in your diagnosis and not trying to sensationalize the problem. You solved a few problems. Thanks for sharing..:)
Why at 2:07 would you loose half the plant if you cut the rotting pseudobulb off? It's already dead/dying from the base, so it can't provide energy to the plant. It looks like it's at the very back of the plant..or is it in the middle and it's just hard to see on the video? I'd personally cut that off with red hot cutters to prevent the disease from spreading, but if that's wrong, please let me know. Also, isn't it better to remove the sheathing off the pseudobulbs and manually clean up the scale before spraying so that you have fewer survivors that are missed so you don't get ones with insecticide resistance? Thanks so much!
Great vid, Thanks for showing. Im sure most come to the vids to see plants they enjoy and how to possibly grow them better. If you come to an American video just to criticize American pronunciation then maybe just maybe your not coming to the video with the same goodwill, appreciation and gratitude that you should. Thanks Will
Question: I have a well with a water softener for all my water resources. I have read that you can NOT water orchids with water that has run through a water softener - the sodium will kill them. Is this True? Thanks,
Barb, Would you please reconsider the way you pronounce Cattleya? As an orchid expert you will be well aware that this generic name was applied by Lindley in honour of my ancestor William Cattley. Cattley is English in origin and pronounced Kat-lee NOT Kat-lay. On the positive side, I note with interest that you avoid the Americanism of pronouncing the letter T in the middle of a word as a D, thus you are avoiding making the name Cadd-lay-ah, now if I can get you to go fully English, you will hopefully land up at:- Kat-lee-ah. Regards Tim Cattley

Beautiful collection of orchids. Thank you sharing. I noticed most of your orchids are growing in terracotta pots. Why don't you use plastic pots?

Tim Cattley now I know how to pronounce it properly. Thanks 😊
@@julieannjohnston7333 It would seem that you do not. Its Katley-a not Katlay-a. See what the American Orchid Society have to say on the subject.
@@timcattley1056 why the rudeness… Julie was saying thank you for your knowledge
Its strange to see orchids in clay pot... they grow in trees.
