I learned so much from this wonderful teacher.
Thanks very helpful. I'm in far west Washington state in Port Orchard. I grow indoors under lights and a 6' very sunny window. Very interesting discussion. Thanks
FYI bugs don't attack healthy plants...
super thanks
Helpful information. Talking by some lady in background very distracting.

Question: I have a well with a water softener for all my water resources. I have read that you can NOT water orchids with water that has run through a water softener - the sodium will kill them. Is this True? Thanks,
wow
Please can you help me with my Wanda? The roots don’t grow, but the orchid is doing well, she has two new leaves, but the roots don’t, what can I do? Thank you so much
Is possible to grow roots in a rootless vanda,,mine is rootless and im afraid Im losing it...
Its strange to see orchids in clay pot... they grow in trees.
If you have a Vanda that is basically a stick with only a few leaves on the top is it ok to cut the stick and pray for new roots for the part you keep?
That’s some great information. Thank you for educating me.
Bard good to cut down the black one. That black plant will slowly affect others plants
I love you flower Do you have a website to sell
Some great tips on growing orchids in your backyard here in Florida - using ironwoods (most of the wood species for mounting an orchid that Gary Murza mentions grow in my yard), tips on controlling the amount of light the orchids get, and a very clever idea for using PVC piping to create orchid towers. Yes there is a bit of backyard chatter during the first half of this short clip, but it doesn't take away from the very useful information you'll find on this video if you live here in Florida and want to do a better job of growing orchids. Thanks again for another helpful video.
Some excellent tips in there... Little pearls of wisdom and experience. Thanks for this video! Well done.
Excellent video!
Hi, my Vandas top crown is broken and it has only 2 fresh roots coming. Will it survive
Hi! such a beautiful orchid! I wonder if they will get the scaling when you keep them outdoors only? I have orchids but I keep them indoors.
Talking on the background ruin the video
Now that’s how to buy an orchid!
Good information.
Thank you so much for this helpful information. I live in the New Orleans area, and assumed that I could bring my orchids outside (I recently moved here) since it's sunny, humid - plus we have a pool, just not covered, so I thought that it would help to add humidity, and I've been really careful about watering them, feeding them, but not overdoing anything. My cousin actually convinced me to bring them outside, because "they'll love being by your pool!" Well, next time I see my cousin, she's gonna get a seven year old Vanda that fried in ONE DAY despite having her 15 minute daily morning root soak, and the fact that I hung her from a hook under an eave on the northeast side of my house. Within six hours, my Vanda that has moved from Minnesota as a seedling with me all the way through nearly six years, and she'd bloomed late last summer, and had a lovely spike growing for this spring… Well, I hope that I was able to save some part of her with keiki paste. All of my orchids that I brought outside that day were either killed or seriously set back; when I mentioned this to her, she laughed, and said that she has a GREENHOUSE, hence her success with her orchids, that it's much too hot and sunny for any orchid in May in New Orleans. I know whose advice I'll be taking from now on… I wish I had access to the nurseries like those that are in your area. There is a surprising dearth of vendors that sell any orchids at all, or they're all white Phals, usually from "Just Add Ice!" (Right, and be back for another $40 Phal in a week because I froze it by following the very care instructions given to me by the "grower".) Sorry about my rant, I'm very happy to have found your channel, as well as so many others here on RUclips.
Where do you get the honey terra-cotta pots
Looking for that terra-cotta pot, any ideas
jana darnold looking for terra cotta pots
Can’t concentrate on what he is saying with her going on in the background.
One of the best vanda videos I’ve watched , short but packed with information
Very good presentation. You are very honest in your diagnosis and not trying to sensationalize the problem. You solved a few problems. Thanks for sharing..:)

You talked about established vandas but I bought my vanda as a new...small vanda. It got some sort of infection and it died. But can a young vanda like mine be without soil....just in the air like that?
That's what she said. They need air on the roots. I have mine on top of wood chips in a wood basket.. Thinking of getting rid of the media now and just letting it hang cuz it's not growing much
I wanted to see the large species they were going to see, why did you cut us off?
Could have brought a shopping cart :) I love it when I get behind the scenes access...Thx for sharing!
Hi there I just subscribed to your channel to help me with my Vanda, besides that in the video when u where talking about the Vanda with the yellow leave I noticed that stick looking orchids on the piece of wire I have 1 piece of that and I don't know what to do with it please help and what is it ??? Thank you so much ♥

hi Barb.. one of my vanda roots developed an indendented black spot on the tip.. what is it?
AWESOME PLACE ...
yes, it was an awesome place, would love to go there some day
love this orchid' place
Great vid, Thanks for showing. Im sure most come to the vids to see plants they enjoy and how to possibly grow them better. If you come to an American video just to criticize American pronunciation then maybe just maybe your not coming to the video with the same goodwill, appreciation and gratitude that you should. Thanks Will
Why at 2:07 would you loose half the plant if you cut the rotting pseudobulb off? It's already dead/dying from the base, so it can't provide energy to the plant. It looks like it's at the very back of the plant..or is it in the middle and it's just hard to see on the video? I'd personally cut that off with red hot cutters to prevent the disease from spreading, but if that's wrong, please let me know. Also, isn't it better to remove the sheathing off the pseudobulbs and manually clean up the scale before spraying so that you have fewer survivors that are missed so you don't get ones with insecticide resistance? Thanks so much!
Yes ,yes and yes.
the fertilizer bag idea is genius!!
THANKS
BEAUTIFUL
Barb, Would you please reconsider the way you pronounce Cattleya? As an orchid expert you will be well aware that this generic name was applied by Lindley in honour of my ancestor William Cattley. Cattley is English in origin and pronounced Kat-lee NOT Kat-lay. On the positive side, I note with interest that you avoid the Americanism of pronouncing the letter T in the middle of a word as a D, thus you are avoiding making the name Cadd-lay-ah, now if I can get you to go fully English, you will hopefully land up at:- Kat-lee-ah. Regards Tim Cattley
Tim Cattley now I know how to pronounce it properly. Thanks 😊
@@julieannjohnston7333 It would seem that you do not. Its Katley-a not Katlay-a. See what the American Orchid Society have to say on the subject.
@@timcattley1056 why the rudeness… Julie was saying thank you for your knowledge
Thank you! This is helpful info
