another thing i learned is that you can be within the guards range and they won't detect you unless they physically see you, if you are hiding behind a wall while in the guards detecton range for example, it won't start the hunt

As a knight main i always listen to the survivors footsteps as i am setting a patrol path and it always allows me to put a guard right on top of the survivor which always gets them detected.
The only way you can effectively counter the knight is by taking the guards attention and constantly making him waste his time so that everybody can do gens.
Its best to bring made for this since it always allows you to outrun the guards every time unless you make a big mistake. While it allows you to outrun his guards as your injured it does not mean you are completely safe since he can just run after you and finish the chase as his guard is hunting you down. Whenever a knight would camp a 3 gen you can run made for this so that it is way more difficult for him to get pressure and it makes it way less likely that a survivor makes a mistake and gets downed which would cause and easy loss for the survivors.
You should always be healthy against the knight because all it takes is for a guard to down a survivor to ruin all the pressure you put on the knight.
Its also best to stay away from teammates since the knight can effectively chase 2 survivors at once if he is able to zone good enough and if 2 people are caught off guard then he could slow the game down by a lot since 2 out of the 4 survivors are at risk of being downed quickly.
The most effective way people throw me off when i am sending a guard is when they have perks like made for this or light-footed since made for this will allow you to gain a ton of distance and light-footed will allow you to be almost impossible to track as he is sending the guard (as long as you are healthy).
But the things i have discussed are only really viable in some situations. Its just best to run gen perks and just stick to doing gens and healing while also keeping distance from each other so he does not force multiple people to waste time and potentially get downed at a very quick pace.
