I don't profess to be a classical music expert, I only know what I like. I've heard most of the 'recommended' versions but this for me shows tenderness and emotion that the others lack
Just 'Mischa Maisky'.........I have heard lots of other musicians but Mischa's has soul and warmth. You can see his passion transporting him to another world. Speed means NOTHING. it's all about the passion
His bowing is not weird. Actually, given you have mastered the bow technique, no bowing is ever going to "feel" weird. The mastery he has allows him to choose the best bowing ever according to what the music calls for, without the need to do what is "comfortable" or "easier". That's why he is so great!

Whenever I hear Mischa plays Cello, everything is just lovely!
Of all the musicians who play the Bach Cello Suite, Maisky is supreme.
When playing or listening to Bach, all is right with the world for those few precious moments.
That may sound corny but its soooo true.
I got so confused because I was listening to this and Then an ad came up and it was someone snoring and for a second I thought it was Mischa lol.
I mean this suite is so easy for him, he could definitely play this while sleeping lol

It is not weird, it's just his personalities on bowing, we all have different bowing techniques
