Great for small businesses working in a town, maintenance, gardening, technical service etc it’s perfect. Real world range of 180-200 miles will work for many. Great for a farm truck.
I test drove it last month. It is very good car - comfortable and with heavy battery doesn't feel like a horse carrige without any load like standard pickups. Interior is great, the power connections in the back. And crazy quick. I am in love - I was about to get Tesla Y as company car, I am changing to this - for same money I can have top spec Radar RD6 (I hope my boss approve). The price cut for base model happened mostly to match the price for ICE pickups in China - as a way to appeal to small businesses, as purchase cost is important and most pickups in China are around 120 - 160k RMB that would be similar speced but as ICE.
Geeley will concentrate first on the domestic China market, but once they get excess capacity they will start exporting to Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Korea, and other place in South America, Europe and Africa. Not expecting them to sell in the US, but it would sell well here if they did.
I don't believe trucks are big in the Chinese vehicle market? I do believe the Asian market will be huge. I do believe Geely will look at the US market, if there is a way around the import tax.
It looks really great, now let’s see how it performes in the real world. If build quality and durability is good we’ve got something to talk about here…
Throw in an energy dense battery in 4 years and this is THE vehicle type to own! Just add a trailer and camping trailer, and it's everything anyone would ever want.

It's interesting to note what may be the comparison between colour TV's and EV's. When the BBC in UK first started to broadcast in colour in November 1969, TV's cost around £300 (equivilent to £4850 in 2023). You can get a good budget TV for £300 today which is ten times better than in 1969! Will be interesting to see how advanced EV's are in 54 years, the range, power and price along with seeing all commercial vehicles effortlessly transporting heavy loads and being charged as they go along highways. Governments will always want to be in control to extract taxes with law enforcement agents being able to imobilise any vehicle with occupents carrying out crime at the flick of a switch....
Hopefully single cab, cab chassis basic workhorse models will become available. I want a roof and front rack so I can carry 6m (20 foot) lengths of material and 2400mmx1200mm sheets in the back. The fronk would really help the shortcomings of single cab.
Here in America many workers use pickups for work. My son, a remodeling contractor, uses his for hauling lumber and other materials. Many of our neighbors (in Northern California) also use pickups for work. Few carpenters drive anything else. Why would they?
I'm going to buy one..I love it as well..thank you for showing that it's even out there..I don't need a over sized American gas hog truck ..just something if I need a bed I have it ..not useing for work purposes..
Changli Explorer: $2,000...sure can't compete with this Geely...but I am pretty sure this would meet most peoples' everyday needs perfectly. Imagine it getting a Sodium Ion battery with real 500 km range and them upping the quality while selling it for $4,000. This would be a killer.
If the one you can buy at your local dealer is even close to this truck’s specifications, I expect it will be a huge hit. Especially if you can get one with those dropsy side flatbed trays you Aussies love and a set of kangaroo bumper guards that seems to be installed on every 3 truck I see running around in Australian videos showing cars on the street.
I'm not sure if I want to show this to Dad or hide it from him. XD He's likely getting far more efficiency with the Model 3 and no massive toolbox during his commute right now. Maybe a future consideration though when the four wheel drive comes out, it'll be interesting to see what becomes available in the four wheel drive and ute space over time.
I was just watching a few reviews and those reviews were VERY positive................... Now also cheap as............ I'm still hoping for the Maxus but I may have to start with one of these (assuming they come to Aotearoa soon).
Wow 🙂 ... I would be interested if and when these show up in California, USA. I like the competitive lower price, room for 4 Passengers, plus the LiFePO4 Battery chemistry in base range version. What I want to see is evidence of great tech support after some history on the road, ... along with minimal complaints. 🎶🌠
Very exciting. Now we just need a change in mindset in the tradie ute market regarding range anxiety. It would help if tradies could could benefit by charging onsite. One way of achieving this would be for tradies to negotiate discounts with their clients in return for being able to charge on the job site.
Please can I have a simple 2-door tray top. A tray long enough to load a 2.5M pack of plywood between the builders bars. I don't need or even want 4 or 5 seats. I don’t want fancy... just a simple practical Ute.

Great, I'll go down to my local Geely dealer and pick one up now... darn, you got me with again with your clickbaiting, Sam. There is no $20,400 pickup, not one I can buy anyway.
@@MrFuckwit999 do you want me to let you know how much petrol is in Australia? Would that useless information be helpful you you as well. I generally only care about how much things cost where I live, or places I intend to visit and will likely purchase.
Love your enthusiasm and for sure we need more affordable electric cars. But in the vid you are also enthusiastically overstating the range. For one, 410 kilometers is not 300 miles but rather 255 miles. Those 255 miles are likely on the Chinese CLTC Standard, if so they will translate to about 200 miles in EPA/WLTP. Now put any serious amount of weight in this pickup or drive it at freeway speeds, and the range will unfortunately be borderline unusable. I fear for trucks we really need those 400-500 miles EPA to have any headroom for towing or heavier loads.
Chinese EVs have great potential, but most are not exported out of China in quantity at a reasonable cost. Once they actually do that then I will pay attention. It will take more than potential.

Pretty much the pickup I’ve been hoping to see! Wonderful news!
Bring to Australia for under $50k and Hilux is done for!

Also what will it actually cost outside of China? So far the Chinese evs outside of China aren't cheaper than the Europeans or tesla evs. 🤔
As a mid sized truck owner, I would jump on the awd version of this truck in a heartbeat.
