Crazy thing is, I wasn't understanding the sketch at all because I thought student character was meant to be a girl. Really shows how strong the double standard is, that a sketch becomes incomprehensible when genders are flipped.
It made sense to me even when I thought it was flipped. In high school all the girls(me included) had a crush on one teacher, and he was hot. Unfortunately married though. I don't think the guys had interests in any teachers, but they were all moms or old. And not the MILF kind. But also in my head I pictured this as a college. So I was kinda confused why it was in a court. That isn't illegal to me.

And remember the wonderful cases when teens are prosecuted for having consensual sex with each other at say 17. Just saying, a 19 year old can be traumatized by the partner as well, or, conversely, a couple of otherwise happy 17 year olds can be traumatized by the society. It's a complex issue.

Part of me thinks it's hilarious. Sure I get the joke about a guy that is 17 or 18 sleeping with his teacher and everyone thinking it's all fine and they aren't a victim. But another part finds the whole thing disturbing cause this is exactly how it is treated in real life when it's very clear that the child is a victim, and there are quite a few cases where it is very clear that the child is a victim. Some of these kids are like 12-13 years old. There are even multiple cases where the teacher got pregnant and sued the kid for child support. And that is with kids that were as young as 13-14 years old, didn't find any that were 12 but they are probably out there. And this isn't always with hot teachers in their early twenties, it's way more often a teacher that is in their thirties, forties, or even fifties that is taking advantage of a child that is a third their age or less.
I'd love to see a skit where they start out acting the same, and then realize just how bad and messed up the situation is. Would probably be equally hilarious, and actually draw some attention to the fact that people need to stop making assumptions about situations like this.

Which is also understandable because whenever a story about a student-teacher relationship comes up, A LOT of guys support it until they discover it's between a male teacher and a female student.
I think there still is a problem with the sketch. Yes, sure, Zach Star himself doesn't condone child predatory, but in this sketch he's vague enough for it to be funny even for people who actually condone it. The "making fun of" part is only in undertone, no single joke targets specifically people who condone r*pe. It feels almost like he's trying to eat the cake and have it too. Statutory rape is still a huge problem and absolutely not okay.
I get that this is a joke, but let's not forget that particularly male victims are actually not taken seriously because "he was lucky to get some". This is a reality for a lot of people, and not something to take lightly.
Sadly, with the prime focus being on taking notes, and the punchline being that the victim is "the messiah", it seems to me like this joke rather reinforces the stigma of "being lucky" to get raped by educational authority figures.

@@ShokuaK how did you get that idea? Maybe in their state age of consent is 16. Maybe they are planning to get married. Maybe they aren't even in USA and age of consent is 14. Maybe they have laws for relationships with small age differences. There's no objective moral to this story.
Except for one that you ignored for some reason. Relationship with a teacher or boss in a workplace is a power dynamic where the person with higher authority has influence over their subject. That's why it's wrong.
@@helgenlane If it's all consensual, why does the power dynamic matter? Because the teacher used their authority to coerce the student into sex. Therefore it wasn't consensual, or in other words, it was rape.
