One thing i would mention, you are correct with drk, but keep in mind the healing in single target is not enough to cross the safety threshold alone, and they will need heals once their living dead has proc’ed. Another thing to note that a lot of people misunderstand, is the amount they need healed is not to full, it is their maximum hp amount. Whats the difference? Needing healed to full means they would need to be full health or they die. Maximum hp amount would mean you could heal them 50% of their max hp with one heal, they take damage and go back to 1 hp while still invuln, and you heal another 50% hp again, meaning during the invuln buff they have received a total of 100% of their max health. This would in fact save the drk from death even though they are only at 50% health at the time. So while yes, bene does work if youre whm, other healers can quite easily save drk too, you just need enough total healing

When I accidently take my invul as a gunbreaker my first move is always using the healingskill on myself. And if I am a healer and I have a darkknight I always say: No need for invul, I got you😅 The invul of darkknight is just pure stress for me so please keep it in your pokets. (Had a Bad experience where I was yelled at for not healing the darkknight when they got their invul and it is just traumatic) But a question: I was told invul is a last resort Option but other told me it is mitigation sooo who was right and when the second one is true... When should I use it?
I remember my first Superbolide. i was in my berserker Whm era just mad unlocking dungeons and my GNB used it and i was unaware. Whole team wiped because i had just used benediction and was on cooldown for every other healing spell (Even the lily spells) They told me they had it on and didn't realize I had already healed them from 1HP and didn't realize everyone was low. XD
My typical experience healing GNB: GNB takes lots of damage burst lots of healing into GNB to get them back up GNB pop superbolide curl into ball and cry
Wonder if Square fixed the gnb invuln? Cause I've seen them and myself die before the invuln takes affect. Didn't happen too often, but it was annoying last time I played FFXIV before the current free login event
Yea, Superbolide and Hallowed Ground suffers from this "must be active before the hit" thing, unlike Living Dead or Holmgang. Let's just say for the case of Holmgang, the most ridiculous use I've seen is hitting it a split second before Tyrant's Unholy Darkness (P8SP2, AOE tankbuster that targets both tanks) hits, which is literally hitting Holmgang after the castbar disappears.
Gunbreaker using their invuln always gives me a mini panic attack when I play healer. There's always one or two frantic heals before my brain catches up and remembers they dropped to 1hp intentionally.
From my experience on drk, even if i pop a mscro with a sound notification about living dead, the healer will edge me just enough so i dont go into living dead healing phase and i die immidiately after it ends
I admit: I am so used to healing randoms that I usually do well with LD. Though I have slipped up a couple times and INSTANTLY realized I goofed and apologized. They always understand; y'all are awesome. ❤
Extra warning for dark knight, their super hp regen skill won’t trigger if they don’t drop to 1hp so be careful not to end up in a scenario where they are taking a ton of damage and you use up all your hp skills to keep them at critical just long enough for living dead to time out and they die right after.
GNB/Superbolide: Step 1. use benediction since they're low health Step 2. recover from panic attack Step 3. give them some healy juice Step 4. pray to the twelve they don't do it again Step 5. repeat
Here is the guide for Max Level Dungeons. WAR: Ignore, they heal themselves GNB: Ignore, they heal themselves DRK: Ignore, they heal themselves PLD: Ignore, they take no damage
Dude we had a gnb use superbolife on his normal pulls while at like, 75% hp I was absolutely thrown by it since, when asked afterwards, he apparently "just uses it when hes out of cooldowns" My guy scared the crap outta me
Essentially... pld and gnb, heal right after use and then wait, drk don't heal at all, war wait and then MAYBE toss a heal or leave them to their own devices
Here is a tip for fellow DRKs as well as any healers and friends of DRKs: (Note that I play on Crystal so the types of players I get might be different to what you get) TANKS, please remember this as I have never seen any other Dark Knights do this, but ALWAYS warn a healer if you want to use LD before a pull begins OR have a macro that at least lets them know say one GCD ahead. The latter is a little iffy, so please just warn them beforehand. (For bosses since it's easier to watch out for buffs, your healer shouldn't really have to worry nor should you really need to unless it is savage content where you need to invuln the tankbuster). Unlike other tanks, your invuln is about dying, so if they don't realize it in time and overheal you because you go too low, you will waste a cooldown and most likely you will die afterwards. Gunbreaker gets away with it because it has an immediate and large warning sign compared to a red buff. HEALERS (at least in my experience healing other Dark Knights of varying skill and equipment), if you are playing with randoms, keep an eye on their healthbar and avoid underhealing for pulls as they are the squishiest of all the tanks and will need all the protection they can get. Find that sweet spot where they won't die and you can consistently spam your damaging spells. If they do say they'll use living dead, wait until the end of the pull, then stop healing, then after they're revived you can start healing them again. Always be vigilant for their buffs for if they randomly pop it because they panic (which you should never do anyway unless it is one of those duties). Honestly one way I think this could be mitigated with (no pun intended) is that a Dark Knight's health bar both the one above them and the one in the party list/target list will have an animation of sorts to visually tell you that they've activated Living Dead. Not everybody plays with sound volume maxed out.
looking at a health-bar has the buffs/debuffs right under it. any competent healer should be able to read that an tell. im a tank main yet when i play healer i still keep a eye out just in cause. an you dont even need to know every tanks skillset. just go look at their inv moves an gets those down in your head. literally everything else is off gcd heal an dmg like normal. most healers just want to play a braindead class for dungeons and trails that arnt extreme or higher content. most just want something easy to play that also has some form of usefulness to it. more so then some dps classes. i play with my sound completely off aswell an still can tell when things are happening. yes i still fuck up here an there but who doesnt?
Paladin = Don't need healing Warrior = Don't need healing Gunbreaker = Might need a bit of healing Dark Knight = Will soak up 3 dungeons worth of healing out of your kit
As a healer main, ive started to level my tanks. So far, Paladin and Warrior are the two tanks i got to 90. I plan on levelling my dps and saving the last two tanks for last as a reward for suffering the dps queues. 😂 luckily it won't be too long. 😂 But i will say that I quite enjoy Warrior the most out of the tanks. 😁
At least in Dungeons WAR is the most fun Tank because you literally need 0 Heals. But it really shifts outside of that. on 8 People Content i think WAR is the most boring class
So so many healers don't know shit about Living Dead and hardcast their GCD heal so what usually happens is the LD expires without proccing and with hp not being high enough most DRK end up dying anyway :')
i thankfully had a gnb friend when i started out healing, but i still hate healing for tanks lmao my old wow days basically mean i HAVE to keep everyone above 50% or i _panic_ as you can imagine, I DPS now rofl
So glad they changed DRK to be able to heal themselves. I hated being dependent on healers that never paid attention, even when I had a macro warning them I had Living Dead up.
Even though this is for dungeons, reminder this is not so accurate during low level runs, for example Warrior's self heal does somewhat exist but is much weaker below 60
hopefully lots of healers see this, i try to living dead in dungeons near the last mob groups and even let them know before i do it, but they heal me through the first buff ;-;
I once had a Gunbreaker waste my Benediction by panic mashing Superbolide when his health dropped below 40%. That moment cemented Superbolide as my most hated skill in the game. I will never forget that moment of pure disappointment. It was just... pain. On a side note, I've never really seen people use their invulnerability skills for trash mobs. Is it for early wall pulls for speedier clears? Edit: I accidentally called Superbolide 'Hyperbole' once and fixed it later when I realized what happened.
Depends on the tank. A pld should be popping hallowed ground on the first set of mobs to get as many uses per instance as possible, Drks too. Many newer tanks believe our invulnerability skill to be the "oh shite" button to be held in reserve when you can use it in rotation and be more than fine.
I’m violently aware of gnb’s superbolide bc my friend constantly torments my whm ass with it OTL love him tho. He’s silly and just likes watching me panic for a second.
If only random healers trusted my holmgang. I use it and instead of letting me sit a 1 hp in trade for 2-3 dps spells they start heal bombing me the moment i click my "Tank invuln incoming" macro. I can pick myself back up with bloodwhetting and a single steel cyclone.
When I heal as a WHM for a WAR, the only heal they're usually getting is assize, only because I use it for damage and a starting shield with beni. (Unless they're somehow really struggling, in which case I always have my bene full heal ready) Actually had a couple WARs commenting that they're happy they actually get to use all their abilities for once without being healspammed as soon as they get to 70% hp.
As a healer and tank main i do not trust ANY last stand mitigation to actually pop off and work so I trust in healing them to full or getting healed to full during it honestly dont see any benefit popping them mid pull unless DRK speed running
Summary: PLD- don't heal them, their rotation heals them DRK- don't heal them, LD heals them WAR- don't heal them, bloodwhetting heals them GNB- heal them if the mobs aren't dead, they can't heal themselves And people wonder why they say healing is boring and is the "free carry" class...
I will use holy to stun mobs so the tank takes less damage. Its not my fault if other people didnt set spell effects to limited in the configuration menu.
note that using superbolid on mob when not necessary mean you can heal yourself and I will look at you doing it because you sure should hope your HoT is enough

On the flip side I've had a few DRKs tell me I was a bad healer when they refused to use LD, or didn't know what LD did.
Don't forget the magical rare moment where the tank hits Superbolide, goes to 1hp and gets hit before the game registers they're invulnerable lol
When I accidently take my invul as a gunbreaker my first move is always using the healingskill on myself.
And if I am a healer and I have a darkknight I always say: No need for invul, I got you😅
The invul of darkknight is just pure stress for me so please keep it in your pokets.
(Had a Bad experience where I was yelled at for not healing the darkknight when they got their invul and it is just traumatic)
But a question: I was told invul is a last resort Option but other told me it is mitigation sooo who was right and when the second one is true... When should I use it?
I remember my first Superbolide. i was in my berserker Whm era just mad unlocking dungeons and my GNB used it and i was unaware. Whole team wiped because i had just used benediction and was on cooldown for every other healing spell (Even the lily spells)
They told me they had it on and didn't realize I had already healed them from 1HP and didn't realize everyone was low. XD
In high level dungeons for GNB, give them a GCD or 2 to use Heart of Corundum, which gives a good chunk of healing. Save a bit of MP.
My typical experience healing GNB:
GNB takes lots of damage
burst lots of healing into GNB to get them back up
GNB pop superbolide
curl into ball and cry
Videos like this let me know that I’ll never be up for endgame material in FFXIV. I’m just destined to remain a sprout 🌱 😂
As a meme Dark Knight. Dont heal me. just let me face my own faillure
We embrace death lol
What is your Warrior's Body Armor called?
Wonder if Square fixed the gnb invuln? Cause I've seen them and myself die before the invuln takes affect. Didn't happen too often, but it was annoying last time I played FFXIV before the current free login event
Not sure if they fixed it tho because I haven't experienced that myself. But, hopefully it's fixed because that sounds terrifying as a healer 😰
Yeah there's like a half second of being at 1hp before the invuln is in affect. It really sucks when an enemy hits within that small time frame
Yea, Superbolide and Hallowed Ground suffers from this "must be active before the hit" thing, unlike Living Dead or Holmgang.
Let's just say for the case of Holmgang, the most ridiculous use I've seen is hitting it a split second before Tyrant's Unholy Darkness (P8SP2, AOE tankbuster that targets both tanks) hits, which is literally hitting Holmgang after the castbar disappears.
what's a whm doing on this tank list?
Gunbreaker using their invuln always gives me a mini panic attack when I play healer. There's always one or two frantic heals before my brain catches up and remembers they dropped to 1hp intentionally.
From my experience on drk, even if i pop a mscro with a sound notification about living dead, the healer will edge me just enough so i dont go into living dead healing phase and i die immidiately after it ends
Addendum. If a Dark Knight is fighting one enemy, please keep healing them until the hourglass icon turns red.
Usually a DRK can still get enough lifesteal to fill up, but a random OGCD thrown our way never hurts.
I admit: I am so used to healing randoms that I usually do well with LD. Though I have slipped up a couple times and INSTANTLY realized I goofed and apologized. They always understand; y'all are awesome. ❤
Superbolide, panic because a tank health bar just tanked and blow everything on your hotbar.
Extra warning for dark knight, their super hp regen skill won’t trigger if they don’t drop to 1hp so be careful not to end up in a scenario where they are taking a ton of damage and you use up all your hp skills to keep them at critical just long enough for living dead to time out and they die right after.
GNB/Superbolide:
Step 1. use benediction since they're low health
Step 2. recover from panic attack
Step 3. give them some healy juice
Step 4. pray to the twelve they don't do it again
Step 5. repeat
Here is the guide for Max Level Dungeons.
WAR: Ignore, they heal themselves
GNB: Ignore, they heal themselves
DRK: Ignore, they heal themselves
PLD: Ignore, they take no damage
I just slap a regen on the gnb and call it a day. If I need to heal more I give a tad extra but that’s about it. Holy spam after that (:
Dude we had a gnb use superbolife on his normal pulls while at like, 75% hp
I was absolutely thrown by it since, when asked afterwards, he apparently "just uses it when hes out of cooldowns"
My guy scared the crap outta me
Essentially... pld and gnb, heal right after use and then wait, drk don't heal at all, war wait and then MAYBE toss a heal or leave them to their own devices
Didn’t they change living dead and walking dead about 2 patches ago 🤔
In all of my time healing, I haven't had to worry about this because all I need to do is keep my tanks out of danger.
Here is a tip for fellow DRKs as well as any healers and friends of DRKs: (Note that I play on Crystal so the types of players I get might be different to what you get)
TANKS, please remember this as I have never seen any other Dark Knights do this, but ALWAYS warn a healer if you want to use LD before a pull begins OR have a macro that at least lets them know say one GCD ahead.
"How to deal"
Pala - you dont
Warrior - you dont
Dark Knight - you dont
Gunbraker - you call a hitman that "takes care" of he router.
Bolide looks like it's the one that gives healers the most ptsd lol
Make sure to use all your big heals on gnb when their health reaches 10% so they could superbolide the health away
This helps SO MUCH
Paladin = Don't need healing
Warrior = Don't need healing
Gunbreaker = Might need a bit of healing
Dark Knight = Will soak up 3 dungeons worth of healing out of your kit
I can't remember all of this D: this makes me nervous as a sprout healer lol I don't want to eff up...
Youll be ok. :) youre intelligent so you got this.
I know it’s been 10 months, but just assume the tank is going to pull everything lol.
Superbolide shouldn’t bother you to heal. Cuz a good GNB will aurora/Corundum afterward and get half their Hp back instantly anyway.
instructions unclear, eyes was to glued to catboy to listen
As a healer main, ive started to level my tanks. So far, Paladin and Warrior are the two tanks i got to 90. I plan on levelling my dps and saving the last two tanks for last as a reward for suffering the dps queues. 😂 luckily it won't be too long. 😂
But i will say that I quite enjoy Warrior the most out of the tanks. 😁
At least in Dungeons WAR is the most fun Tank because you literally need 0 Heals. But it really shifts outside of that. on 8 People Content i think WAR is the most boring class
So so many healers don't know shit about Living Dead and hardcast their GCD heal so what usually happens is the LD expires without proccing and with hp not being high enough most DRK end up dying anyway :')
i thankfully had a gnb friend when i started out healing, but i still hate healing for tanks lmao
my old wow days basically mean i HAVE to keep everyone above 50% or i _panic_
as you can imagine, I DPS now rofl
So glad they changed DRK to be able to heal themselves. I hated being dependent on healers that never paid attention, even when I had a macro warning them I had Living Dead up.
Even though this is for dungeons, reminder this is not so accurate during low level runs, for example Warrior's self heal does somewhat exist but is much weaker below 60
GNB giving Healers a jumpscare everytime they shot themselves
hopefully lots of healers see this, i try to living dead in dungeons near the last mob groups and even let them know before i do it, but they heal me through the first buff ;-;
thx for the video
90 SGE has so many abilities that tank health doesn't even drop in expert dungeons.
as a healer main, DRK is still one of teh hardest tanks to heal for me. And it's mostly a lack of understanding of the DRK class.
how to heal tanks invun
warrior: heal them
paladin: heal them
drk: heal them eventually
gnb: heal them but you've now got diarrhea
I once had a Gunbreaker waste my Benediction by panic mashing Superbolide when his health dropped below 40%. That moment cemented Superbolide as my most hated skill in the game. I will never forget that moment of pure disappointment. It was just... pain. On a side note, I've never really seen people use their invulnerability skills for trash mobs. Is it for early wall pulls for speedier clears?
Edit: I accidentally called Superbolide 'Hyperbole' once and fixed it later when I realized what happened.
not sure about the speed, but mostly it gives your other mitigations more time to come off cooldown😉
Absolute panic on each one because I'm not going to notice that buff... just OMG AUGH THE BAR GOES TO 1!!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
As a drk, this my favorite video
If only random healers trusted my holmgang. I use it and instead of letting me sit a 1 hp in trade for 2-3 dps spells they start heal bombing me the moment i click my "Tank invuln incoming" macro.
I can pick myself back up with bloodwhetting and a single steel cyclone.
When I heal as a WHM for a WAR, the only heal they're usually getting is assize, only because I use it for damage and a starting shield with beni. (Unless they're somehow really struggling, in which case I always have my bene full heal ready)
Actually had a couple WARs commenting that they're happy they actually get to use all their abilities for once without being healspammed as soon as they get to 70% hp.
As a healer and tank main i do not trust ANY last stand mitigation to actually pop off and work so I trust in healing them to full or getting healed to full during it honestly dont see any benefit popping them mid pull unless DRK speed running
Summary:
PLD- don't heal them, their rotation heals them
DRK- don't heal them, LD heals them
WAR- don't heal them, bloodwhetting heals them
GNB- heal them if the mobs aren't dead, they can't heal themselves
And people wonder why they say healing is boring and is the "free carry" class...
Um...GNBs absolutely can heal themselves with Heart of Corundum and Aurora.
I will use holy to stun mobs so the tank takes less damage.
Its not my fault if other people didnt set spell effects to limited in the configuration menu.
I get yelled at for using my invuln because of healers thinking it means I dont trust them. Should send this to whatever healer yells at me next
I did not know how DRK worked...I am sorry to all the DRKs who have wasted their invuln because I start panic healing them.
note that using superbolid on mob when not necessary mean you can heal yourself and I will look at you doing it because you sure should hope your HoT is enough
Things like this is why I like to play a healer solo.
Cheatsheet: Heal no one. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
*dies in shame as gnb using superbolide on accident midfight and starting to panic and heal myself up as much as possible immediately*
😂🙈
Bruh... I've just talked about trying FFXIV on twitch chat. Now YT is recommending me this 😂
You forgot holmgang ends if the target dies early.
I feel like I've been playing healer wrong the whole time.
