This is still my favorite big screen adaptation of The Hulk.
This the hulk I wanted in the avengers. Yeah ruffalo hulk was ok but I wanted Norton hulk and his savagery

I didn’t really like Ruffalo as the Hulk. Too much comic relief when the Hulk is a deeply tragic character imo. Plus that weird af Hulk/Black Widow thing still puts a sour taste in my mouth.
The Ang Lee Hulk has something special about it. Direction, music, even CGI at times are phenomenal.

Marvel Studios was actively sabotaging the character because they didn't want demand for a solo movie.
Edward Norton made me fall in love with the character as a kid. Really showed the complexity between physical strength and intellect.
This was by definition my guilty pleasure movie as a child

The Erik Bana Hulk is actually very good and is a very powerful Hulk since his anger actually gave him more strength physically. The comic book panel scene transitions was nice too.

Except the villain made no sense, they combined multiple Hulk villains into one antagonist, Absorbing Man, Zzzax, and Bruce's father, that was such a bizarre decision, but hey Jennifer Connelly as Betty was👌

Edward Norton was the hulk and Bruce banner for me Ed and the director for this movie had a different of direction of the hulk character they wanted to go more dark but marvel went with the calm hulk as we have see in the mcu And marvel and the director had hired Ed Norton to rewrite the script because the script zak Penn had was bad, zak Penn got jealous, so they didn’t give Ed Norton the credit that’s kind of shady from marvel
Yeah I stopped liking Hulk right after this movie. Avengers was his next best appearance after this

There’s actually like a 30 min cut of deleted scenes that would have made sense in the future movies with mark ruffalo because like how he said I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out that was in the Incredible Hulk deleted scenes but marvel cut it out something from and Edward Norton and the director of this film wanted to leave in

@@Chasejones2004actually it’s marvels fault for it. Cuz this movie came out way before it was bought.
Plus Edward also wanted to make a dark sequel of it similarly to dark knight, but Kevin Feige thought about it and then said that he didn’t want to.
From what I heard was that in the sequel we could’ve gotten we would’ve explored Bruce’s perspective when he’s in hulk form. More like we’re exploring more into Bruce’s psyche.

This is WAY BETTER than Mark Ruffalo's performance and design, like i respect him but why did they change Hulk completely?
The scene with tony and ross, ross was considering to have shield bring in the abomination as part of the avengers instead of bruce banner and still painted him as criminal for wreaking havoc in new York for why bruce should not be part pf the avengers. Agent Colson had tony come in and talk ross out from going with that idea. This could a potential what if episode, what if the abomination was actually chosen over bruce in joining the avengers?
T bone ross will be played by Harrison ford in future marvel projects due to the original actor has recently passed away

Universal own the distribution rights to The Hulk. That's why there was never a sequel to this or any other live-action Hulk anything.
Also, Ed Norton has a habit of being hard to work with because he likes making script changes.

After appearing in the MCU in 5 different films, William Hurt (General Ross) sadly passed away in 2021 due to complications of prostrate cancer. He was still a trooper and showed up in Black Widow even though he was showing clear signs of deterioration, but it seems like the MCU canned a lot of his scenes and that’s why his appearance is reduced to a cameo.
Nevertheless, Harrison Ford will now take the mantle as Ross in Captain America 4 and the Thunderbolts.

Yeah when this was made Universal had to sign off on this as they own Hulk movie rights so Disney/Marvel could make this...since then they refused to let them make any more as in their contract for ownership of the character if Disney tldid make another movie Universal would loose the Hulk rights...So Disney/Marvel can never make a Hulk stand alone movie until Universals rights to the character ends whenever that is...sad but true!!

I hope Disney is paying attention to Zimaut's hulk animations, I don't wanna say a lot of us would but I at the very least would be very disappointed if we didn't step it up and get an atomic thunder clap or brutal punches from glowing gamma fists, it just has to be done in live action after all these years (Another slight hope I have is for What If? season 2, the only one we know about is gamora and tony so we'll see if they were inspired by the fan animations these recent years and cooked up an episode for hulk)
It’s so disrespectful how marvel recasted Thunderbolt Ross after William Hurt died but killed Tchalla after Chadwick died
Plus William Hurt doesn’t have the greatest reputation of being an emotionally stable dude. He’s got more abuse (both verbal and physical) allegations than Carters got peanuts. I know allegations aren’t convictions but that’s still pretty sketchy. Chadwick on the other hand seemed like a universally loved actor and a great dude in person.

Marvel finally has the rights of hulk because fox had it for so long thats why we never got another hulk movie
actually it was Universal who had joint ownership with Disney, Universal specifically had the distribution rights, which meant that if Disney made a solo Hulk film, Universal would get a substantial profit. Disney didn't want to share the money, hence no Hulk movie.

The original TV series Live action hulk came out way before you guys were born. I remember watching every week when it first came out. It was cool for its time, but it did not capture or resemble anything from the comic books. The MCU version is closer, but they still massively nerfed the character and even more so in the later appearances in the MCU. Gone is the Hulks greatest ability, which is the angrier he gets the stronger he gets. So, if you are a fan of the OG comic book character, you won't find it represented well in the MCU.

Spoiler alert -There is a comic book showing what happened to the leader we're Black widow captured him and he ended up in shield/Hydra custody. The leader is the main villain for Captain America 4 and he'd how thunderbolt Ross become the Red Hulk. Also there are rumors that he's behind a lot of things happened in MCU the power broker the arms dealer in Ant-Man and the wasp.

Norton was replaced due to creative differences, asking for rewrites and wanting Hulk to be thematically "darker," "depressing," and "dramatic."
Eventually the studio couldn't make anymore changes or compromises and let him go.

I was born in 2006, but I watched this and the 2003 movie religiously. I watched the old tv show and the other marvel movies out at the time, and i can say hulk in my opinion was the peak and is still top 7.

I remember when this movie came out sooo many people gave it sh*t! In In retrospect, I think that was just audience retaliation for how poorly the studio treated Ed Norton (it made its way around the headlines). Can't deny this is easily the best stand-alone Hulk movie.
Love this movie! Was so epis when I first saw it in theaters with my cousin, we parked at the top of the parking structure and when we came back my sub was stolen out the back of my civic hatch back 😂

@@Chasejones2004 Unfortunately, it is very unlikely for characters to revert back to the original actors. So most likely Ty Burrell, or Christina Cabot (who plays Ross’s right hand woman, Kathleen Sparr).

Hey! its dope ur watching this now..one of my favourite MCU movies and Ed Norton is one of the greatest actors out there, nominated for an Oscar 3 times..watch Fight Club, American History X, Primal Fear, Rounders, The Score, 25th Hour, Death To Smoochy.. dude is too damn talented...he does like a lot of input on scripts which makes him awkward to work with for some people......he co wrote screenplay for this but the studio wanted the ending changed for more action and he wasnt very happy...They did ask him back but he didnt want to work for the studio again so that was it..Id say he regrets it now but i like Mark Ruffallo..good actor and i like MCU Hulk but Norton is so much better and i prefer Hulk in this..Ah well! Thats life...
It seems that you guys never watched the original HULK (1977-1982) tv series with Luo Ferrigno or THE HULK (2003)? Which this is HULK is sort of a reboot of 2003 version b/c at the end it shows that Banner survives the atom bomb then a year later is in middle of South America jungle but in the intro opening of this 2008 movie was altered showing them in lab testing on himself then shows him escaping to brazil when things go wrong.
