Best knife, I have two (1x serrated) and also a spyderco fixed blade. I work on the ocean.. a lot of my time is spent there.
Heavy use, thick tow lines, fish cutting, dirty jobs, blood&guts, net mending, tuna farms, engine rooms …these are savage! I go over it with any water and a light scourer.. no oil, no safe storage, it lives on a shelf of rust on the boat.. they are all spotless and razor sharp. 2+ yrs💪
Love LC200N. Working around water and slippery fish , Spyderco's FRN with their bi-directional texture is WAAY Grippier then g10 and g10's texture wears out but frn does not ....
There is a 3" blade model(Delica size). Great little knife. The knife also has a purpose for the Navy. So it's meant to be more of a maritime tool than an edc for the average person. It's a great edc if you live in humid areas as well.
I have the H1 version of this knife and I have used it as my top-side knife when I go scuba diving. It is a good around knife for a long day on the boat. I removed the pocket clip. I also have the Enuff fixed blade in H1 that I take underwater with me and the Dragonfly in H1 for the beach. All three have exceeded my performance expectations. This LC200N version should be a winner. Wishing you the best in 2021 and beyond.
The green/black color scheme looks waaay better than the old yellow. Amazing weight too being under 3oz. This will be my new food and fruit knife or zombie poker
Great video! Love Spyderco wouldn't mind picking this one up!! Happy New Year!
Let's goooo! Happy New Year Complex!
That would be a fun knife for food prep at camp or even in the kitchen. I almost want it just for the color!
People of BF say the clip is Ti. I checked mine with a magnet and yes, no magnetism.
Caveat to this is serrations. The LC200N FFG for plain edge definitely, but for spyderedge the H1 gains back a lot of traction. It’s one of their best performing steels for serrations and it’s even more corrosion resistant than LC200N afaik.
I dont live anywhere near the ocean, but the fact I don't have to worry about rust us a huge plus. It's pretty rainy here and I do alot of food prep. My ideal would be a para 2 or smock in lc200n.
Great balanced and thoughtful review, MC!
I’m getting the serrated version to use in the garden. I already have the Byrd FRN Hawkbill and Cara Cara Rescue, which are great. I wish they would bring back the Spyderhawk!
I think there is a very good point for not having a finger choil on a knife you might be using while gutting a fish on a lake shore or just having your hands wet and possibly cold.
You're exactly right. Mr complex here went a little crazy on that. But I wouldn't want a choil on this knife. Not only are you closer to the blade. But the wetter your hands the softer they get. Which means you could just get cut by the choil jimping and edges itself. C'mon complex. Think about it. We still love ya tho
Don't take the bait MC! lol we're mere hours into 2021 lol
I definitely, definitely still want a choil on this guy. No exceptions 😉
@@metal_complex you’re the boss 😁✌️
@@metal_complex I don’t see you using it in water for a long time then :p. But then again. Not a ton of people do
Happy New Years MC! Just a few more days before you're at 40K subs. Way to go!
😊🤝
I like lanyard. My main carry knife, the PM2 ha a bright neon orange lanyard to make the knife visible when I set it down and dangles down the side of my pants.
6:10 for a quick subharmonic B1. Thought I was still watching vids of bass vocal techniques!
This is my dream pruning knife. I really do wish.
Think we can all agree. Syderco makes the best.
I love that color
You don't need to take it apart to clean it. Just leave it in your pocket when you do laundry or throw it in the dishwasher
Lol true!
Best knife. Your lucky to own 1.
What's up buddy! I love it!
Pm 2 in lc200n for a pacific northwest man on the Oregon coast
I love that green
I prefer the Native 5 Salt for my fishing knife and the Dragon Fly 2.
I fish with russel dexter fixed knives. I also fish with gerber multi heavily greased. Anyway the point is fishing 👍👍
@@wesleymadsen4357 exactly I can’t wait for winter to be over to get back out there and catch some fish 🎣👍🏻
This is an amazing knife. It’s one of two issued knives we get for work. The other is the Atlantic Salt for our in water use. But this is our deck knife and it’s extremely suited for this. It definitely benefits from pants that have a designated knife pocket on the front of your pants or back of your leg. It sits out enough to grab easily. The length of the handle is long enough for use with gloves and the length gives you plenty of purchase. Anything less is not enough. And to touch on the finger choil, i have tried knives with them and they get hung up ALL the time when cutting line because you’re not going to use the choil when you need to cut quickly. It’s also cheap enough to not care too much about which is important for professional use. You want quality but not expensive. This is exactly what you get with this knife.
I think metal will rust in space, so this knife would be great. I suppose if there's any iron present this will "eventually"rust tho.
LC200N was developed for NASA, so yes your line of thinking is on the right path.
Space Knife. Nice!
I’m watching to the end. I’m debating between this Pacific and the green handled Salt 2. Help? 😀
If you like big knives go for the Pacific. Myself, I had an Endura for a minute and it was just too big. It felt like a sword at times. The Delica handle is big enough for my average hands and so I pulled the trigger on a Salt 2. Looking forward to trying LC200N.
@@chw5007so now that 2 years have passed. Do you like the salt 2? Thinking of picking one up tomorrow and was curious how it did for you in the long term.
That delica is beautiful
would've loved to see it against the Endura and Endela but we can't always get what we want can we lol
Is that pocket clip steel ......mine is not magnetic? Im wondering
Titanium clip
About disassembly... you sound like a guy who's done it, because thats exactly how you do it lol. I put a pair of flytainium brass scales on a ZDP-189 Endura and a pair of Titanium scales on a K390 Delica. I'm no expert... but they can be a PITA ! especially if you drop one after you take the body screws out....
Can u swim with it?
Still waiting for my ZT from Europe, keeps getting delayed and I'm paranoid now, if it doesn't turn up I'll be devastated, and it could mean ordering flippers from Europe is no longer possible; please send good vibes, lol.
I'm sure it's just the holiday pace. Good vibe sent. You should be receiving it................
...................now!
@@_MiMo_ Thank you very much for the good vibes, didn't receive it yet, it's been put back to Monday, but let's hope. I'm curious as to what happens if a knife gets seized, (hope I never find out) nut it's worrying because it makes me double think spending say, over £400 on a Hinderer. Thankfully we can get non flippers from a great store here, so there's no worrying if I can ever afford a Rockstead or something, but I do like manual flippers very much.
According to a data sheet by Zapp, LC200N is a tool steel with a 15% chromium. This is why the steel is so resistant to rust.
www.zapp.com/fileadmin/_documents/Downloads/materials/powder_metallurgic_tooling_steel/special_material/en/LC200N_Datasheet.pdf
Interesting. Aren't most tool steels used in knives more geared towards edge retention than corrosion resistance? K390 and such. Interesting it's flipped on its head.
@@Camelotsmoon That would depend on the intended use of the blade; for example, extreme sharp is thinner than wittling ones.
Did you edit this video or is RUclips tripping out?
Couple edits in there
Love Spyderco, but I think the FRN is cheap looking. IMO, great video
I agree. Perfectly functional, nothing wrong with it... it just doesn't do it for me as a knife guy.
Hmm.. Pacific salt 2, or the siren? I like how my siren is built, better XD. We need a LC200N PM2 or shaman... Just lc200n all the things.
I have the chef and Caribbean. Chef is worth every damn dollar. Caribbean is kinda meh. Action isn’t as nice as the pm2 but ergos are a little better.
@@TheTl33 hahahaha true. I've been thinking about getting a chef, but I want a shaman first. Only reason I have the siren is because I won it, but it's a good knife, and I'm glad I have something in lc200n.
@@Camelotsmoon I have a m4 shaman and love it too. It’s crazy how much better the action is on it over the PM2. And don’t be afraid of the tab everyone complains about hitting in the closing action. It took me like 3 flips to get used to it.
I have the pacific salt 2 and siren. The Siren has a thicker blade stock and more dramatic distal taper. The shorter blade length of the Siren makes it more edc-able for me. But the pacific salt 2 slices better. The g10 slabs on the Siren feel more robust than the hollowed out frn on pacific salt (the frn is gripper thanks to bidrectional texture). The Siren has a thicker, smoother lock (like the native). It's a toss up and they're pretty different knives. I think the Siren is a little underrated.
I love that none centered knife
You like the crkt CEO?
Try the new one with a flipper.
@@theknifeconnection9571 absolutely will...appreciate the reply
I think I'm going to pick it up. I try to wait for the price to go down tho. Crkt prices are high for the materials in my opinion. Yes they're good knives but they're typically made in china like most other that are half the price for the same quality.
"This Area Right Here Is Stupid, It's Stupid!" LoL I totally Agree!
why not make all knives with this steel?
LC200N has mediocre edge retention on abrasive material. All steels are compromises. S45VN is a good balance of all attributes, Magnacut is too but price is too high
The price of this knife went up 20.00. Sucks. 😢
I got the serrated version
🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
Good god I can’t stand Frn scales. Why can’t they just use G10 on these knives? That’s what keeps me from buying the Endura in K390, the upcoming Police K390 and this awesome LC200N Salt. I hate the cheap ass plastic scales. If Civivi can use micarta and G10 and carbon fiber on pretty much all of their $40-$80 knives then Spyderco should be able to as well. Shame on Spyderco for charging premium prices for sub-par materials
This pocket knife is specific for fishing ....
Or gardening, or food prep, or..... anything lol.
@@troyounce3295 why do you think the name and salt? why do you think steel is highly resistant to rust? you probably take an damasco knife to fish in the sea.
Second
This centering crap must end
You forgot taiwan some of the best ones
The new Salt 2 is the delica of the salt line. Just came out. But it’s too small for a working knife. This handle is the prefect length for work on the water. It’ll fit your hands with gloves amazingly well.
