We knew you'd love it even if you didnt want to watch it. Frieren is in the race for anime of the year afterall. As for S2 Im sure it will have one since their is enough material for it.

If you simplify it, I'd say Serie basically passed all the mages who not only were objectively powerful, but the key was that they weren't afraid of her when they met her, even if the reasons why they weren't afraid was were completely different for each of them. Denken wondered how to fight her and changed his mind because he realized it was ridiculous and he had no chance, Ubel is crazy, Land tried to trick her, Wirbel gauged her strength correctly and without fear and has views that perfectly align with hers, and Methode wanted to cuddle her because she is tiny and cute. The only mage who was powerful and didn't fear her but failed anyway is Frieren, and well, she's a special case given their history. I think Serie doesn't know how to deal with Frieren because Frieren is everything Serie disapproved of in Flamme multiplied by ten and sprinkled with some extra traits she doesn't approve of that Flamme didn't have.
Serie: "Lernan is so shy and meek. He needs to have more confidence." Lernan, meeting up with Frieren literally the next day: So anyway, I started blasting
I like the animation - it's original. Shots like Serie dabbling in the water with her foot, for example. Don't see that a lot, most artists struggle with feet. I like the subtle smiles sometimes, or the way Fern and Frieren will go icecold when fighting demons. My favourite fight was Frieren vs Aura. But there are a lot of good moments, like her flopping over Fern in her sleep, or complaining Fern's boobs are blocking her vision, or lewdly offering the potion that dissolves clothing. She has an impish side. Denken being a powerful mage, an excellent tactician, but also someone who will pull out a fistfight as a last resort - that was great. Frieren being able to still her mana to the point a monster sat next to her and drank water was pretty incredible too. It was extremely moving to see her realise, years too late, that Himmel had proposed to her. I think the whole series could be called "I was in love and only just figured it out too late!" At least Fern and Stark seem to be moving together. I hope they have lots of kids.
Love the call out to the scenes. Serie dabbling in the water was such a nice subtle scene. LOL Frieren is lowkey a freak, I love her little antics. If I were to explain Himmel's relationship to Frieren briefly, it would be "the ultimate friendzone that transcended a lifetime"😭
i have to say, Land really has guts, my man thought he could fool the most powerful mage in history with some clone shenanigans lmaooo but hey, at least he was safe in his hometown (i mean not like it matters how far you are from Serie, but still). I liked the interviews a lot, Methode was expressionless like... "ok but i can i pet you?" 🤣
This is really the best end to a series that isn't completed yet, I've seen so far. It feels so natural to the progression of the story and I would even go so far, that it wouldn't be the worst if there were nothing after this. There certainly will be because of the series popularity and I hope it will be close in quality to this one.

On another note, my theory is that Serie didn't bar Frieren for failing the exam, but rather she is angry that Frieren ended up getting her to admit how much she cares about her students. She's the ultimate tsundere.
Remember what old man Himmel said when they were going to see the Eras Meteor shower. "And you [Frieren] were always there in those beautiful memories." Turns out the he is always there in her memories too.
With a series this good, it's hard to pick a single fondest memory, but if I absolutely *HAD* to, I'd probably say the end of ep.12, when Frieren explains the meaning behind the giant hamburg steaks and Stark suddenly understands (a) how Eisen really felt about him and (b) how much Stoltz loved him, which allowed him to finally unblock the part of his childhood memory where his brother specifically told him to run away and survive. There is so much emotional power in that one short scene, and we get to watch this sweet boy start to heal some deep emotional trauma. 🥲
My favorite scene is probably ep12 ending. Ive had many of my childhood memories changed by future events and revelations. The ring scene will also be immortal to me. Lernen is up there as my favorite mage, so his resolve to be remembered even if he had to kill Frieren sticks with me as well. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and thoughts.
Seeing Frieren & Fern's relationship (whether sisterly or motherly) was my favorite part of the series and just how differently Frieren's interactions were compared to 80 years ago, which shouldn't be a shock, but that 10 year journey changed her. Great series and the sentiment behind the title of the last episode was perfect.
@@SnuggleswithVy I don't think it would be anytime soon. Frieren S1 took 3+ years of production. Currently, the manga author and her illustrator is on hiatus again. However, the last time she reportedly went on hiatus was to consult and provide inputs for the anime. So fans are hoping that this time is the same situation again.
