They didn't fall in love for real. They both have significant others. There are upwards of 10-20 people on set during these scenes. While it's intimate to us and seems real, it's NOT. They are ACTING. :)

It took a few times watching for me to understand that when she says she can’t stand it anymore and has to resign, Ömer assumed that she meant an office relationship with Sinan. That’s why he asked if anything happened between them when he was gone. The whole time, Defne thinks Ömer is telling her it’s inappropriate for her to have feelings for him, but Ömer is talking about her and Sinan.
That’s why he’s so angry, jealous, and makes her stay the 15 days. He thinks she wants to be free to be with Sinan. Sinan is having a hard time hiding his feelings for Defne, and Ömer is misunderstanding it all!!
Because Defne fell in love with Omer and she cannot stand playing the game no more. That is why she wants to resign . Omer knows they love each other now, because of the book. Omer said he got everything wrong about Defne and Sinan, but cannot handle that Defne wants to resign. So Omer says you have 15 more days than you can resign. Omer does not want Defen to resign , but treats her bad for two days , because of his pride. After two days Omer makes Defne breakfast , because he feels guilty what he did treating Defne bad. Omer is mad at Sinan , because Omer jealous. Omer knows Defne loves him , and Omer love Defne , but does not know real why Defne wants to resign. Then Defne resigns ,and becomes Sinan assistant. Sinan is in love with Defne . Defne is so naive to not see Sinan also fell in love with her. Defne only loves Omer. Then Sinan lies about Fay that Omer and fay last year had something going. Nothing happens , but Sinan wants Defne to think something happens. Defne is jealous of fay. Then Defne goes to Omer house and Omer finds out she was the model in the picture and knows Defne wants him for sure. They almost kiss Omer and Defne . This is the start of their love Omer and Defne.
So, in Omer's book, it's inappropriate for Dafne to have a r/ship with Sinan, but it's not inappropriate if she had one with him?!
That’s why on the stairs, after he tells her it’s inappropriate to have a relationship with anyone at the office, and Defne assumes he’s realized how she feels about him, but the whole time Ömer is talking about her and Sinan! In other words, he DOESN’T NEED to be INVOLVED EMOTIONALLY/ROMANTICALLY & be IN LOVE! BEING ABANDONED/LEFT by whoever he gets emotionally attached to is still the STRONGEST feeling in Omer.

She would rather leave now than let Omer fall in love with her. In fact, she doesn't want to hurt him.
