My name is Kevin. I hope you will enjoy my videos of my great new life of early retirement in Dumaguete in the Philippines. Come along on my island hopping trips to beaches, snorkeling, mountains, waterfalls and other Philippine destinations. I’ll introduce you to friends, so you can learn about dating, finding a place to live, restaurants, and best places to buy groceries.

Congratulations! Another great sharing. You have my full support already, regards/Ned👍👏👍
Another option, buy a near new bike from an expat leaving Philippines and you save on the sale price as well as have a registered bike right away.
I've been looking at buying a scooter myself. Unless you can get a deal from an expat, the used prices aren't that much cheaper than a new bike. Better to buy something new, has some kind of warrantee. Even if it's only powertrain.
Nice looking motor, Kevin and Jennalyn ... Safe and happy riding to you!
Nice to see you again Kevin!!
Great to see you Kevin, congratulations happy trails brother
Great to see you back and I love your motorcycle.. I bought a good used Suzuki smash for my girl and I got me a 175 motorcycle for about the same price..I don't like putting my feet on a platform because I like to straddle a motorcycle that I throw my leg over.. I raced flat track for 15 years.. for the money you just paid for that motorcycle you could have got a nice used air conditioned car or a small truck.. I bought a Honda Civic with 30,000 MI on it for $3k usa dollars.. glad you got back because RUclips has been boring without you in my house.. please do some more rentals or house sales and restaurant reviews..👍👍👍😎🤗👌
Welcome back. You're going to love the Nmax that's what we bought for Marilyn. Take care.
Thank you sir! We’ll be heading your way again soon!
It is the official Tuber bike. Ask Regular Guy.
Glad your safe and sound🎉 on the bike
Mice bike. Congrats you guys.
Nice looking bike congrats as you know and have been here there’s alot of challenges here the list is long . Enjoy your ride and keep a eye for the check points you’re area has alot of them 😊
Congrats. I’m planning on moving to Dumaguete in January and I have my eyes on the Honda ADV160. You’ll enjoy the NMax. Yamaha is a solid company and they make great products
Good for you.
Thanks!
Nice!!
You could just rent a scooter on the days you want to island hope. They allow you to travel with the rentals all over. Good video. I’m looking to buy a new one next time I’m in Dumaguete.
Glad to have you back! Life's been dull without your lifeline from the islands. I think I would be happier renting, when I'm not riding in a trike. My plan is probably finding someone to drive or go get things for me; I hate driving anyway. Be sure you make videos of Jenna learning to drive! 😮🙄😝
Kevin,
Check with Mark. He said on a recent video that he went to Cebu and drove his new car from the ferry from the lower tip of Cebu. Maybe cars are different than bikes/scooters.
Glad to have you back.
Drove mine immediately. The dealer never said anything to me about a wait. That was 2 years ago.
Kevin never had an issue traveling with my to register plate and dealer certificate. Always cleared through LTO checkpoints as well. Go and enjoy I bought the same bike and colour from sibulan in January. I had my full registration in about 8 weeks.
All great news, thanks!!!
Are you friends with Marcos then?
Here in the states Scooter selections are limited. I bought the XMax (300cc) last year here in Florida. $8500 out the door. Not the best deal but they are very hard to get here. The nMax is not offered here. I believe its 155 cc. I love my XMax. Its been very easy to service. Very fast scooter. I use it mostly to travel along the eastern seacoast.
got a brand new NMAX last year in a different part of the Philippines. They promised me registration in under 2 months and I am still waiting for official plates... got the paperwork, but had to have "special" plates printed. I feel comfortable driving it around town, but to your point, I will not drive through a checkpoint yet.I totally feel your pain, having lived through the registration drama myself. It will test your patience, especially knowing how quickly you get that stuff in other places. Good test for everyone as to whether or not the Philippines is right for them-- handling this with a good attitude is not easy for some. A lot of people buy used bikes for this very reason, but I wanted new because many don't maintain their stuff and used nmax bikes are expensive too (they really hold their value). NMAX is a great choice for the Philippines.
don't wait for the plates man because it will take years before the government can produce it with the tons of plates they yet have rolled out over the years. just get someone to produce the correct temporary plate format for you usually around 300pesos you won't get apprehended as you have your papers.
You should be able ride around your city without registration.
Here in Manila you can 🎉
I have bought 4 motorcycles over the years from Kymco in Duma. The first was over 8 years ago. I was given a temp registration that was good for 30 days. It took well over 6 months to get the permanent. To this day I still have not received a license plate for any of them. I had no issues bringing them on the ferry to Siquijor.
7 years for me waiting for a plate. All they want for the RORO is OR/CR.
Congrats Kevin. I would to meet you someday Dude
Sure dude😉
Nice to see you back. How was the flight back. ✈️
I hope you enjoyed your vacation kevin and now you’re back home in the Philippines bought a new bike love the color. Question do they have DUI in the Philippines?
Congrats on getting a new bike , curious as to why a new vehicle wouldn't come with at least a temp registration good for
at least 30 days so you could actually ride it right away anywhere you want to go, is it that the LTO is so slow ? must be.
anyway thanks for the video and stay safe out there ! I'd add at least a good pair of gloves, some knee/shin guards and
elbow pads for you and Jenny, we know road conditions there aren't exactly very good in some places :)
I was in Cebu working 2018-2022 and had a company Ford Ranger. In all that time the company never received the registration. I used that vehicle to go on ferries to Leyte, Mindano and Dumaguete without any issues, as long as you have the MV File Number and this is shown on the plate then you should be OK. Maybe it's different for motorcycles.
$1560 a year to rent vs $2600 forever. For me in Thailand it was about 75% cheaper to buy even with oil changes and registration. But it was more about having a nice newer bike and being able to throw box on it vs an older rental bike.
I see you hit the dragon. My hometown is Maryville TN. Nice curvy road 😂
Cool, yeah my buddy and I used to stay in Townsend and rent bikes from Wolf Creek. They moved to Pigeon Forge, so that’s where we stayed this trip
Gosh my stomping grounds. Used to jump off the rocks in Townsend as you went into the National park. The Y as we locals called it. Townsend has stayed small all these years pretty much. Love East Tennessee
Hows Drama a gette doing lol enjoy riding shout from Gerona Tarlac happy joyous and free
Just bought a 2024 Xmax 300, $8k out the door. A cousin was hauling it home in the bed of his truck and was rear ended. Tweaked the handle bars due to being secured by handlebar straps (won't know the full extent of damage until it's inspected) so it's going to be a while before I'll be able to enjoy it.
Happy riding with your new scooter ! Has the motorcycle dealer given you an estimate about how long will it take to get the registration ?
Loved my nmax . Unfortunately some toerags stole it and it was wrote off by insurance company . Would love to have another one .
I bought a honda a d v 160 in baguio. The dealers don't want to move their ass about getting the paperwork done for your registration. Go to the land transportation office in duma and demand it. I got my papers within a week. I don't.
Have a proper license plate. But I went to a printing place and had the numbers printed on a temporary blank plate that honda gave me.
I bought the same. Love the security features, how to use the code on the red card is boggling, there is a vid on here. I always turn handlebars left and fully lock when leaving it. The bluetooth isn't included in my 2023, that drained the battery and blew fuses, so no issues with that. I bought the rubber pads for the ceter area, protects the paint etc. I also bought a cover off lazada for the open storage on the left. Waiting to put a bag hook on too. It's a fantastic bike, I love riding it.
bike outlaw
Damn right!😈
Yes, the registration process is absolutely ridiculous. There is no reason in 2024 it should take 3-6 months. There is so much available labor the government could hire to streamline the process.
True!
I think it depends on where the car was registered. My Ranger was registered in Dumaguete and after 4 years still no registration. We bought a Toyota Rush in Cebu, and registered there, and after 1 month got the plates and registration.
When I saw the other video I knew you would go for the N Max over the X Max, they’re just too big for the environment you are operating in. I tried a used X Max in Thailand and it was a pig compared to everything else around it. I like the N Max, it has great styling and great safety features like anti lock brakes. You made a good choice. 👍
Bought my new bike from Duek Sam in June 23. Got the rego and plates in 10 weeks.
🤞🏻I would be happy with that!😂
LTO is so stinking slow. I bought a ADV 160 took over two months to get the registration bought a Honda beat still haven’t gotten it and it’s been two months and I’m waiting on my Toyota pick up. I bought six weeks ago.
I was able to go to Siquijor without a registration. They asked for the registration at the ticket office and told me i couldn't bring it without it, then a guy overheard my problem and took me across the street to another office and they sold me a ticket. I gave him 1k and we were off to sigijor
That’s good to know, but I would not plan on that happening. Seemed like a chance thing. 400-450 a day is fine with me
I started with the mio 125 and I'm 270 pounds I went everywhere on that bike with my girl. Just got the adv 160 this year plus lossing weight!
Took us 3 months to get our registration
Lol they will sit there until they go on lunch or break then everyone goes.
They usually only give one year of Registration with a scooter that is under 300 cc in the Philippines, Check your paperwork. I have never had my paperwork checked when I am taking my scooter on a ferry, but maybe you would. An oil change is only about $10 in the Philippines and you shouldn’t have any problems with that scooter for years as far as maintenance goes. If you go through a checkpoint and you don’t have the registration, they can find you 10,000 pesos and confiscate the bike until you pay the fine. Inspection points do not pursue people so if you see one you can turn around and take a different route if you choose to you.
Great advice, thanks for watching!
That's a beautiful scooter you have. I bought a Kymco 155 cc scooter new from GUD in Dumaguete in 2016 when I first arrived. It did take about 3 month to get the registration but the dealer issued some sort of certificate that made it good to drive around (not off the island, though) for a one (maybe two) week period. So until my registration came through, I had to keep going back to the dealer for that temporary certificate. I suppose it would have gotten me through checkpoints, but I never actually went through one where I was stopped. I am still waiting for the metal license plate to be issued nearly 8 years later. Talk about SLOW. I go bcak to the dealer every once in a while to inquire about the license plate and they said they have not had any delivered since about 2014. Welcome to the 'pines!
I got my registration in 3 months. I got the "real" metal license plate after 4 years.
Nice bike Kevin! Let’s know how much it’s costing owning vs renting since you’ve done both now.
10-4!
sorry-- another thing... the dealership did not want to sell it to me at first. I was paying cash, but they really want to get people to make payments at crazy interest rates. Did you experience that? They make very little when they actually sell a bike that is not financed at some ridiculous interest rate.
I never thought i would ever be seen on a scooter.........When i returned home from the Philippines, i bought a Yamaha Zuma 125, and love it as much as my two other motorcycles. However if i stayed in Philippines, i would definitely invest in something that can power two comfortably like the X Max (300cc). Scooters are a joy........
Heh Kevin , great to see you back in the Philippines. Looks like you’re spending some time the gym. You got those pythons flexing 💪🏽. Anyway good to see your new investment. How’s the heat been over there lately? Getting much rain? Later Bud
Thanks Robert! Yes, Jennalyn and I started working out before I went to the US. Unfortunately I pinched my sciatic nerve and have not been able to work out in almost 3 weeks. It has rained a little in the last 2 days, but it needs more. Almost all of the vegetation is dead around here. It definitely took a few days to get used to the heat and humidity again. It was in the 50s at my parents’ house in the morning
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 oh Yes something about waking up in the 50’s that is so refreshing. If you take Jennalyn to the U.S. she will certainly have that experience and many thrills of a life time. But It’s back to the Philippines
Nice bike great deal LTO IS MUCH FASTER NOW 6 WEEKS
I hope so, I’m getting close to that. My next scheduled oil change is Aug 15th….id love to have the registration around then. We want to visit Moal Boal on Cebu
The first year I was supposed to renew, i was late by 3 months. I thought it was 1 year from the time of payment. For 3 years I was paying 3 months late and I had 3 months unregistered every year. Every time I passed an inspection stop I was anxious to be stopped. I realized they see a foreigner and would never stop me.
Congratulations. I wouldn't worry about roadblocks. I bought a new Rusi in 2017. I had it about a month and stopped at the roadblock. I showed them my valid Philippines drivers license. The police asked when I purchased the bike. I told him and I was on my way. I had a receipt but, no registration yet. I wasn't asked for any paperwork. I think all you need is a valid Philippines driver's license.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a Philippines license & recently they passed a law that you have to have 6 months on your visa to get a license….problem is, they no longer issue 6 month visas…..my guess is that it will take 6 months to 1 year of losing that revenue for them to overturn that😂
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 I moved to Dumaguete in 2016. I went to the LTO to get my lic. as soon as I got the ACR card. So, I had only been in the Philippines for a few months. I went back to the US in 2022. I came back June 2024. My Philippines driver's lic. would expire July 2024. Hence I went there in June and renewed it. It took 3 hours. However my lic. is now good for 10 years.
I got my SRRV in 2021. The SRRV might be an option. You won't need to deal with immigration and you can get a Philippines driver's license.
I read the thumbnail wrong. I thought it was a Sunshine Shoulders video. 😀
Hahahaha, thanks for watching. Sorry Calvin wasn’t in it
Good decision in buying. Don’t understand why anyone would finance a bike or car like Mark did.
Interest rates are horrible here!
Ive never ridden a motorcycle like that. Do you recommend getting a motocycle license in the US first before trying to rent one in the PH and just wing it?
Absolutely! You can go by your local Harley dealership. You definitely don’t want to learn how to ride one here. It’s way to chaotic and dangerous
born to be wild
Get your motor running 😈
Kevin, nice looking bike sir!
do you recommend any place in particular for renting a bike in the Dumagete area?
Yes, V12 Rent a Bike on the corner of Perdices and Sta Rosa. They are right across the street from the Yamaha dealership in Dumaguete
Strange having to wait weeks to drive a new bike, VS driving off the lot immediately buying a new car.
A car is just as illegal
Can a fixer speed up registration?
Just a note for you in the stock market. Buy hims and hers. Health ,revenue is going to explode. Do some research. Not investment advice, lol
Registration you'll have sooner, the license plate is what takes 7 months
Thanks for watching Rick! I hope so
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 that's the way it was for me. The dealership will call you when the paperwork arrives.
Why not rent another one for three months if you want to travel? It's not that much money to have freedom and piece of mind to do whatever you want legally.
I may do that. I can also teach Jennalyn how to ride on a rental in case she wipes out 😂
I've been on lots of ferries n lots of islands never once in 5 years been asked for a registration
It’s hit or miss…you’ve definitely been lucky.
I just bought the Honda Click 160 from the dealership by I.T. Park. It took them 19 days to register mine. $2100 U.S.
I hope mine comes soon. We are already over 60 days
What sort of warranty does the bike have,😊
12 months, engine…& stuff. Free oil changes for 1 year
Huh? I thought you said you bought the bike on Cebu island and said you would not be allowed on ferries. Why are there not individuals who buy new bikes, wait 6 months for registration, and sell them as used bikes with their registration at a premium?
Nope, bought it in Sibulan….which can sound like “cebu land”, but Sibulan is northern Dumaguete. The bureaucracy in the Philippines is 10X worse than the US. It’s ridiculous
Stock market huh!? May I ask what you after, what you chasing there man?
P.S. you can go to cebu to liloan port no one’s asking for registration not sure about other island.
What do u mean chasing? That’s how I make my living
I have a nice 2023 Kymco X-Town cruiser 300cc 13k kilometers on it excellent touring bike 2 years left in registration for sale in Dumaguete 160k pesos
Hey man, my buddy watches you on TickTock. He said you’re from NOLA and live in Dumaguete . I grew up in Gretna and I live in Bacong. We should meet
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 we had a pretty big channel lol 32 million views but that video I had up about American vs Filipina women somebody commented America is blown up meaning it’s over hyped you know the saying and I got permanent ban for not removing terrorist threats lol I was like WTF ? Terrorist threats ? I had no idea what they were talking about I appealed but lost that lol so I told them in a email what I thought of them and I’ll never do anything with them again for sure
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 definitely we over in Sariago Island right now we leaving back for Valencia tomorrow I’m from Slidell
Sorry for the late response! We’re heading to Mindanao tomorrow…1 way tickets. Not sure when we’ll be back. I’ll reach out to you then😉
bought new bike in Malavi Mindanao in Feb,,registration and new tags two months later
That’s good news!
It could be very useful if you mentioned the prices in Philippine Pesos also since you are in the PH and not everyone watching is american.
Will do, thanks for watching!
Come on, I would guess at least 50% of the vehicles on the road here do have registration, papers etc…
Thanks for watching ! I’d take that bet! Look at all the scooters lined up on the side of the road….sitting for hours when there’s a roadblock
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 I was in diversion rd in Bacong, at a mobile coffee shop when I saw the police setting up a check point and I started to count how many vehicles stop or turned around, it turns out 20% went through the check point. Imagine how many people are driving illegally here 🙄
Have to ask you How much did it cost you to fly to the Philippines? I.m trying to fly to Cebu from Ohio its over 3000 dollars for 4days if you can help because i.m looking to move to the Philippines next year my name is Mark from Ohio
Hi Mark, I use a “Business Class Consolidators” for my flights and it’s $2200 from Manila to Houston in business class. There is a new company called Starlux that is very cost effective, if you book ahead of time
A normal motorcycle with gears is much better for here n the Philippines.
Lived here going on 5 years, crossed from Dumaguete to Cebu more times than I can count.....Never been asked for paperwork boarding the Ro-Ro.
Ever.
LTO allows you to ride with the paperwork the dealer gives you when you purchase, until or/cr arrive.
No registration=no drive. If caught, 10,000 peso fine. LTO's little money maker, yes; but it's a fact.
WOW! That’s terrible!
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 That's not all; next time you show up for license renewal, they will deem you are ineligible for the 10 year license, you will only get the 5 year.
one of my relatives says his dream vehicle is exactly what you bought a blue 155cc Nmax. how much is a used one?
Does a rental scooter include insurance? Where did you rent in dumsgette? Im retiring in feb'25 to bacong
QUESTION
Went into IMMIGRATION service to get visa extension today. Lady said new law NO MORE 6 month visa extensions. Only 2 months.
That is correct & the stupid thing is, you can’t get a license if you don’t have a 6 month visa🙄
did you not like the ADV
How did you get it home if you can't get it on a ferry?
YOU can get home, but your bike can’t….too scary to even attempt
$19 off and a dodgey as hell helmet! 😂
Happend to me. The Scooter was over 120K. They offered me a Discount of 300 Peso. 😅
Do you need a drivers license to drive a scooter? Is a regular card license (International) ok, or do you need a specific motorbike license?
Yes! Technically….they want a motorcycle endorsement on your license. I would encourage everyone to get their endorsement in their country. You can normally take that class at your local Harley dealership
Also, you don’t want to learn how to ride a motorcycle or scooter in the Philippines….its WAAAY too chaotic!
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 thanks
Will you be scouting for guys that Mark can interview ?
He actually wants to interview me today 😂
Be careful with Mark.
he may want to wrestle you , using horse play as his excuse to fondle u
Why be careful? He’s been nothing but a good friend to me and JL. He’s helped our channel too😉
@@KevinTucker-y8r dude has dementia and gets violent when frustrated
Wait. I rented a bike but didn’t buy one to make money on stock market. But spent 300 a month to rent instead of paying 6k. That’s 5% a month. You are making g more than 5% on stock market. Sweet share any secrets?
@bryanprehoda I spent $135 per month, and after taxes AND paying for the bike I still walked with almost $600 month investing that money….i made plenty of investment videos. One has over 400,000 views. I have not had a real job since 2021, and too young to get social security. I trade weekly stock options, selling cash secured puts and covered calls.
