I must confess that after I read "Professionals of Violence" back in the 80's there was some aspects of their lives that I envied, but even back then I kind of felt that the Richardsons sounded more dangerous. Fast forward to the age of the internet etc and although I still love the glamorous side of being a gangster, I know in myself that I could of never inflicted any violence onto anyone except in defending my family, so I would never of been any good to either the Krays or the Richardsons.
If being detainned in a number of Mental Detainment wards and later Broadmoor is your idea of 'glamorous' then it's a suspect galmour. You know spending stolen money for the few weeks, months, or years may be promoted as Glamourose but it's just delussionals pretending they are living the life of their imagined high-ups. But still the criminals only increase their debts and get deeped down. They were nasty criminals and any supposed glamour was the sort of delussion which got them interned in the institution where those who think sadisim is Glamourous are placed.

Wow you mentioned Long Grove. My dad worked there and was working the day Ronnie escaped. Reg turned up at visiting time wearing a coat and suit. He took his coat off and the twins just chatted away. Strangely Ronnie was wearing the same suit and tie as Reg When visiting time was over it was Ronnie who put on the coat and walked out to a waiting car. The charge nurse was furious and locked Reggie in a padded cell

You are absolutely right about there being two sides to the twins. If you look at the funerals of the Krays, it does reflect on the good side of the twins. I knew their next door neighbor and child friend a lady called Janette who grew up with the twins and told me that they looked after many people in the community than hurt them and only hurt or killed those who would've killed them just the same !!
They decided they were going to take over their idea of their manor. So some conflicts were due to them not getting what they wanted or when they tried to mussel in and some times the others objected and threatened in return. So I am not sure who you think was attacking them first? That goes all the way back to when they were starting out working for Jack Scarface Spot who was a razor gangster with a history of violence. They joined him as his enforcers and protector. But was Jack Spot up to any good or was he a violent theif and gangster robber. So at no time were they just attacking those who attacked them as they were already there doing the crime and victimizing (Conspiracy) the victims of Jact Spot.

Apart from the fact you can’t just walk into that place without a visitors pass, there’s No way Ron was unable to get up from his chair as was stated by Webb before and then let Webb punch him because Ron was scared of Webb . It’s all ridiculous and just Not True . Ron was violent but he also had a very caring and loving side to him too . I Adore Ron🥰and find him a fascinating man !!

The difference between the Krays and everyone else was they didn't give a shit about the consequences of their violence while others were worried about getting a very long prison stretch if they gave R&R what they richly deserved. The Krays were a pair of vicious and spineless pricks who believed themselves invulnerable because they were up the arse (literally) of members of the British establishment and they hid behind the protection they thought that gave them. They disgraced their mother and their peers and happily they both died (effectively) in prison and that is exactly what they deserved.
