Hollywood Logic: Take popular fantasy story... such as Aliens.... create new story but modify the characters: 1. Have one or more main characters be extremely young. 2. Have female characters be more wise, smarter and physically stronger than any male characters. 3. Hero(es) of the plot can't be white males. 4. Must display rainbow type relationships within the plot. RESULT: Movie dies horribly at the box office Hollywood Logic: Blame the fans and repeat the exact same process with a different popular fantasy... over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
Just because Sigourney Weaver was a bad@ss in all of the Alien movies, does it have to be a female hero in EVERY Alien movie? Sigourney worked as a hero because she was awesome, not because she was a female. The writers just copy and paste, without understanding why a movie is successful. If they don't get a great actor to play the protagonist, then we don't care if she gets eaten by aliens or not.
