- Lecture 4 in UCSD's Digital Integrated Circuit Design class. Here we introduce models for capacitance found in typical CMOS transistors, including intrinsic parasitic and extrinsic capacitance (like overlap capacitance). We then discuss why capacitance really matters in digital circuits - specifically for setting the propagation delay. We finish by describing how to do basic modeling of propagation delay in digital gates.
Great lecture! Note: at 49:41 the PMOS was drawn incorrectly. All the capacitors should be pulled up to VDD, see West and Harris Ch4 pg 147 Figure 4.5
