- Here's some footage I shot of the Midwest Central Railroad during the 2008 Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. This video features the Henschel 0-4-0T #16 steam locomotive. This engine was built in 1951 in Germany and is the only coal-burner on the MCRR. I like to call this engine "Percy" due to its many resemblances to the Thomas & Friends character. He's one neat little engine!
The #16 is a backup engine if the #6 or #9 have problems the #16 pulls the train until the engine that is down gets fixed. It
Number 16 is a beautiful and little engine. Probably the most unique in the collection since she was made in Germany.
Yes, it's the last 36" narrow gauge line in Iowa.
Usually for the first 2-3 days of the Reunion #16 doesn't pull anything, although sometimes it pulls the freight train, which is cool to see. I think on Sunday and Monday it pulls passenger trains. I've only got to videotape it once pulling a train. I agree, it needs some cars behind it!
the Selfkantbahn engines have a similar design, but they are not build by Henschel but by Jung Locomotive Works in 1956. Cab and frame design, size of the side water tanks are different.
I heard from someone recently who works on the MCRR that they are working on replacing the boiler of #6, and it may not be operating for the next reunion ? If that's the case, I'd guess we'd be seeing a little more of #16, which I have to admit I wouldn't mind at all!
The whole boiler is not getting replaced that was done several years ago whats happening is the boiler is getting new staybolts, and new flues and it will not make this years show.
awesome. German museum railroad Selfkantbahn have same locomotives.
@RCdash9 yea, my friend and i will hopefully go there when its finished!!
It was built in West Germany in 1951.
what program did you use to make this video
Probably out of recycled Tiger tanks lol
I use Adobe Premiere Elements 2.
What kind of whistle does #16 have on her in this video?
