Venice is one of Italy's most picturesque cities and a very popular destination for travel. With its winding canals and beautiful bridges, its striking architecture, secret gardens and incredibly romantic places, Venice has a lot to offer beyond all the tourist attractions known all over the world. Founded in the 5th century and spread over 118 small islands, the famous Italian City of Venice also known as the “City of Canals” or “The Floating City” is one of the most visited cities in Italy. Venice is a city in northeastern Italy, built on a group of small islands, separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. It is a major Italian port to the Adriatic Sea and the capital of both the Provincia di Venezia and the Regione di Veneto. Venice is unique environmentally, architecturally, and historically and therefore, the lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was styled la Serenissima (“the most serene”) in the medieval Europe, when it was the greatest seaport and the commercial and cultural link to Asia. One of the world’s oldest tourist and cultural centres, Venice is renowned not only for its beauty but also for its Venetian glass produced in the Island of Murano and the lace produced in the Island of Burano.
Coming by train, you reach Venice’s central train station (Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station), near the western end of the Grand Canal, which connects Venice with other Italian cities. Traveling by train from or to other cities in Italy is an easy and comfortable way, considering that Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station is close to the city center. At the main exit of the Santa Lucia station, you will immediately find Ponte degli Scalzi. At the second exit you find Ponte della Costituzione, opened to the public in 2008 to connect the station with the Piazzale Roma, the main bus station for Venice.
Grand Canal (Canal Grande) is the main waterway of Venice, following a natural channel that traces a reverse-S course from San Marco Basilica to Santa Chiara Church and divides the city into two parts. Grand Canal has an average depth of 5 metres, it is more than 3 km long and between 30 and 70 metres wide.

Buongiorno Dante. Venezia la bellissima ed eccezionale Venezia. Quanti traghetti indispensabili per spostarsi con tanti canali. Tu sei arrivato con il treno noi generalmente con il pullman. Che meraviglia di città e quanti gabbiani. Una volta abbiamo percorso le ville Venete con il Burchiello un barcone e siamo entrati a Venezia attraversando il Canal Grande e siamo stati accolti da un nugolo di gabbiani magnifici. Bellissimo video che ci mostra i vari percorsi via terra e via mare con il famoso Hothel Danieli nel quale io mi sono fatta un giro con la porta girevole😅 ed ho ammirato il carnevale di Venezia con maschere fantastiche. Bravo Dante hai girato proprio un bel video nel quale hai mostrato una parte essenziale della città. Daniela😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Nel video ho mostrato il primo contatto con la città arrivando in treno. Venezia affascina fin dal primo momento in cui entri in città.
