I remember those old school kits. Organization of the pieces could take some time-I don’t think I miss that part. I finally bought this set about a year ago, this, Death Star 2, and the super star destroyer were my only missing ucs sets. I’m still not in procession of the other 2, but this was acquired and promptly built. Absolutely love it.
I just finished parting this set together. I had the windshield on a wanted list on Bricklink just to see if it would pop up and I snagged one cheap so it went from there.
I just wish I could find the instructions so I don't have to build from a screen:(😢😢
It maybe rare, but with a few mods and part replacements it can be quite a cheap build to recreate!

Mine actually has 24 bags not counting the instructions, but i also think it may have been opened previously because the instructions weren’t in a bag between boards
Good for you for building. I’ve built all my most prized Lego sets, except this one. Had for 3 years, unopened in box. I want a second one to build, but they’re selling for over a thousand now. Insane.
