The talisker parley was actually pretty tasty. Tried a sample a month back. Ended up picking up the bowmore aston martin 18 for around £80 though. Beautiful dram and a good price. Definitely contains older whiskies in the mix
Hello from Glasgow! I just passed through the Duty Free at Heathrow yesterday! I'm in Scotland July 1-15. On my way to Springbank in the morning. When I get back to the USA ya'll need to come over to Half Moon Bay for a visit.
Love Heathrow … years ago you could try before you buy several fine malts, I tried my first Craigellechie 13 and been loving it ever since. Thanks for sharing your amazing holiday. Much appreciated. Kindest regards as always. Ciao 👋 S.
Last trip thru Heathrow i picked up 3 bottles. The Smoketrails was on "sale" amd they had a Craigallachie 17 for about £90. My wife wanted to gift an Aberfeldy 16. She liked the bottle and he doesn't care about abv or integrity. It was a different shop, dont remember which terminal, we flew United. Not as crowded and they did 10% off if you spend 200, so that was a bonus.
That's a lot of Caperdonich for a duty free... I'm gonna guess you didn't buy anything there;-) Looking forward to the unpacking video! Welcome back Phil & Deepa!
@whiskymystery agreed, the 90, it's lovely. I've managed to track down a fair few over the years since it was discontinued. However, I just cracked the 83 on my 40th birthday (barrelled when I was born) and that was very special too. I do love a good Balblair. Although I did let them know at last years whisky show in London how upset I was at their changed marketing strategy haha
Yes if it is official Duty free then they will give you the bottle in a sealed bag that you can take on as hand luggage. Anything bought outside duty free/airport must be in checked baggage.
Great tour. I was very impressed how you managed to avoid the other customers and do the video in a single take. I always find the Duty Free (Travel Retail) very disappointing and boring these days but some of these were interesting. I still need to check that Lagavulin 10 Travel Retail 43% abv 70cl. In the past it was a vatting of Refill Ex-Bourbon and rejuvenated and Seasoned in Sherry Ex-Bourbon barrels. Rather experimental. As for this latest batch, there are conflicting reports out there. Some (TWE) write that this is a new cask recipe consisting of 100% First-Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrels. Others (WhiskyBase) claim that even the new batches are a combination of Bourbon and Rejuvenated. I have tried reaching out the Diageo but so far, they are not forthcoming. In my opinion, it should be legally mandated that if the distillery radically changes the cask recipe then they should be forced to change the barcode, indicating that this is indeed a different whisky. (On the other hand, this would make life difficult for the smaller distilleries like Bruichladdich and Kilchoman etc, who are always changing recipes from one batch to the next).

Excited to see what you brought home. Great store tours and tastings. 👍
Thanks Carl

Oh great Erik. Just missed you. Enjoy Sringbank
Didn't know you were over again Erik. Not in Glasgow at mo, but do you pass that way again? Regardless, have a great trip.
There is a smaller store with a better selection a bit further down towards the AA Lounge in Terminal 3, but I had already bought what I could carry.
I saw that. It did have Craigellachie 13 at least

Do they have electronics or gaming consoles in duty free shops?
@@vibesnovibes6320 I’ve never noticed any, but then I wasn’t looking
A 25yr single malt for $375? That Longmorn sounds like a steal!
We did pause at that one
I'm still butt hurt that not too long ago I was picking up 27 year-old Balblairs for £99. Miss those days.
@@manimangat7293 oh that 1990 2nd release is amazing

Yeah prices are challenging
can't really see a damn thing with the camera swinging all over the place...😑
Try half speed

And Springbank never having a standard recipe it seems
I bought a glen grant 12 and dewars 16 double agent but glen is more effective coz of 48 abv
Hope they are good
